Anyone else still got wrapping to do tonight or just me? 😂

Currently laying in my daughters bed making sure she’s asleep so it’s safe to start wrapping.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas ❤

I’ve really enjoyed this thread over the last few months. Nice to be able to talk to others who enjoy the prep and build up too.

If anyone wants to make a Christmas 2025 thread, I’m here for it. If for no other reason than to see @Miss Begotten ‘s head explode 😂
Yes please! I was going to ask if we could do this soon, any deals/tips and tricks anyone thinks of over the next year we could use that in preparation 🤣🎅

Maybe we could do a sales bargain thread for presents for next year!

I'm alone, so nothing to do. Don't k ow what to do with myself! I'm watching repeats of the Ghost Stories for Christmas specials, and I've done all the prep for lunch tomorrow...

I've turned off the phone, because I need some peace and don't want any crap from my troublesome family members.

Alone here too 🙋🏼‍♀️ i won't see anyone till Friday when I go to work. I've taken myself off to bed, going to put a cheesy Christmas film on, and sleep. Hope you're OK ❤

My awful neighbour who I've talked about in the rant threads, has gone out and left her 1 year old cane cors alone, in a crate in the flat above me. He is howling and will continue to howl until she gets back, which I strongly suspect will be Boxing Day. The noise is very loud and very sad. I've complained a lot to the council, but they say they can only treat it as noise nuisance, not as animal cruelty. The RSPCA said I could ring them back if he's left alone for 24 hours. I'm hoping they will really DO something at that point, rather than write her another letter she will ignore.
I can't stand people that lock their dogs away all day - especially Cane Corsos are gigantic dogs and need stimulation. Poor baby only being one and locked away all day :(

I volunteer for RSPCA and even I can say they're a bit tit. Very picky. I'd keep pestering RSPCA or maybe some other local dogs homes. Best of luck ❤

I'd love to see what a Christmas alone is like although since it's just me and my mum now it is very quiet, but still I've never had a Christmas completely alone and I think I'd enjoy it. Even with just one other person it all feels like a bit of a performance and this year I can't be arsed at all but still trying to make an effort so we're not completely miserable!

I'll be honest, it doesn't feel like Christmas Day today. The build up hasnt felt the same this year. Not sure if it's cos I'm getting older and don't have kids to worry about 😅 it's made me feel like I'm missing out on something haha!
Today is being spent walking the dog then watching Christmas movies and just enjoying some rest. Hopefully the Christmas movies make it feel christmassy 😅🎄

Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope today is kind regardless of how you feel about the holiday

I've never known it to feel so much unlike Christmas as this year, including the build-up. Even during lockdown, the year Russian invaded Ukraine felt more Chrissmassy than this and the start of the cost of living crisis.

I have wondered if it's just me but on social media lots are saying the same, that they/it does not feel even the slightest bit festive.

So I do think something is going on with everyone?

I'm glad I'm able to stay at home and just have a nice meal with someone I can mostly be myself around. The thought of the Family Christmas of years past would have me running for the hills just now!

To be fair, it's mostly the build up I kind of like these days, but even then it's becoming a bit tedious. I said to myself the last couple Xmases that I need to get away for Xmas and New Years, but I never do.

I am making myself the promise now that next year I'm going away somewhere for about 3 weeks, going into the New Year of 2026, god willing. Have you or anyone else here done or thought of the same?

Yeah, we went away for a week over Christmas, took the dog too, a few years ago, it was a nice change.
You don't even need to go abroad, just a change of scene somewhere else in UK can be great.

I also have zero Christmas spirit left. I didn't buy a tree, decorate. or buy gifts just normal food like mince pies and shortbread biscuits.

I think it's to do with watching a year of Genocide unfold in Palestine and for my own government to be complicit. It seems strange people are celebrating the birth of a Palestinian, when over 18,000 Palestinian children have been killed over the past year.

I've done a few solo holidays over Christmas week before. I would recommend it. I don't know if it necessarily makes it more festive, but it does give you something to look forward to, and function as a break away from real life.

I'm not all dolled up like I usually am on Christmas Day! I started putting on my makeup, rhen just felt annoyed, and I won't see anyone and I'm not in the mood to take selfies, so I'll just be a scruff today, haha!

I stayed up late watching different versions of A Christmas Carol, then slept until noon. I'm annoyed at myself for sleeping through half the day, but who am I here to impress, lol?

I feel guilty that I haven't gone to church this year, or even feel able to watch a seminar on TV. I just can't manage the thought of something that emotionally intense. I just want to be comfortable.

I'm watching Wallace and Gromit, and cooking the chicken.

Happy Christmas to you all!

We had a power cut this morning... Luckily before I'd put the turkey in. It took out the landline and the mobile signal too so I couldn't even do my ringing round the family. It was a fairly big one, from what I can tell it took out most of town and some surrounding ones, but it only lasted 15mins or so for us so wasn't a big deal. Just a mild panic ;)

Sat down for lunch and at the final moment MrDanDan misfired some spring-loaded kitchen tongs and broke a wine glass (it was rather spectacular - shot it across the room). so we had to pause to sweep up...

Quite possibly the most exciting xmas we've had, which tells you what mild mannered lives we lead ;)

Just had dinner and Mr Duck is 100% going to have to roll me home 😅

My mum bought an M&S turkey in a box which ended up being tiny for the amount of people here, so I volunteered as tribute to have some of the plant based option, which was really good! It was the Sainsbury’s plant based beef Wellington from the frozen section. I might pick one up if they're still available next time I go food shopping.

My main complaint is that there is no rosé here, even though I called before we left the flat and asked if I should bring some and was told not to 😭 🤣

Any idea if they will still be selling mince pies and other xmassy food tomorrow in the supermarkets? I was considering picking up a few bits.

Last year my local supermarkets were selling all their Christmas bits on clearance for a good week after the 25th until it was all gone
