After years of not enjoying Christmas, I finally want to cancel it this year. But I don’t have the guts to go the whole hog so I just plan to celebrate it minimally
My daughter turns 2 in November and I remember last year’s stress of not knowing what to get her for Christmas as she’d only just had a birthday. This year I think I’ll get her literally one or two Christmas presents plus some money into her savings and/or towards an experience. I might even skip the presents as she shows so little interest in toys

I don’t spend crazy money on anyone else’s gifts, so I’ll just continue buying them the same sort of things (either something I know they want, or something useful)
I don’t like roast dinners and the guests I had last year felt the same so this year maybe we should cook a nice meal we enjoy, even if it’s not Christmassy
I have a tiny tree with baubles and one Christmas ornament. Have realised I dislike seasonal decor so may send them to the charity shop. Have also realised I have the tiniest sweet tooth on the planet and end up giving away/wasting treats so will avoid purchasing
I know a lot of people see the crappiness of this year as a reason to go all out at Christmas which is fair enough but to me, coronavirus has helped me to realise what I really value; personally I don’t value Christmas and find the pressure to celebrate it depressing and stressful. I’m actually excited to try this cut-back version to see if it makes me feel less miserable
