also, with present buying- do any of you wait for Black Friday for deals? My partner wants a Nintendo switch this year and I’m torn between buying now so it’s done or hoping for a Black Friday deal to get it cheaper

Sometimes it's cheaper to look now. Check the prices now to see how many games are being offered too, then you know if you are getting a better deal come Black Friday. The new X-Box and PS5 are being released soon, so the Switch might try some extra deals (the Switch is the beal selling console and they sold out over lockdown)

I wont be going to the shopping Centres for presents thats for sure! Not sure what we are doing for Christmas day yet but I might host it this year as last year we went to my mums.

The John Lewis Christmas shop went live online today. Bit earlier than usual because they've been getting loads of requests for it apparently so seems like people want something generally regarded as happy to focus on.

I always look forward to Christmas and don't think this year will be any different in that regard but I'm not wishing away the months between now and then either.

One thing that I've thought could be really different this year is that we're not allowed music playing in shops/restaurants at the moment so Christmas songs everywhere could be missing! I think that would create quite a weird atmosphere.

At least this year you can buy a large tin of Quality Street instead of the pathetic tiny plastic tubs which seem to get smaller every year.

I've just finished a small tub of Sainbury's own chocolate treats, not bad at all. Might get some for the December Holidays.

Anyone know what drinks M&S have that are worth buying? Any bottles of pre made cocktails worth getting? I’m not keen on the cans. Missing a nice cocktail and I’m tier 3. Some bars are doing deliveries but not on Christmas Day so they won’t keep for a few days and the prices are silly!

Starting my Christmas cakes this week, I'm a couple weeks behind but wanted to wait till both children were in school.
I always make 3, one for December 1st, one for my husband to cut on his christmas eve birthday and then one to cut on January first


I always do my foodbank shop in November, usually take my eldest child with me to pick things out for children (advent calendars, sweetie tubes, selection box etc) always a favourite tradition of ours. Was looking forward to getting my youngest involved this year but I don't know if it will be possible to have them both in the shops with me

oooh lovely! What cakes do you make? I absolutely love traditional Christmas cake. I make it a couple of months ahead and feed it weekly with whiskey before icing with marzipan and white icing. I find that so few people actually like fruit Christmas cake though. Fortunately my fella loves it, so I end up also doing a Christmas cake for his birthday!

I've only ever bought presents early and start food in November. What type of things would you get from September to start putting away? Would love some ideas
