my god my dream as a child was to be on fun house. I remember my grandma was always really disapproving of it because it "encouraged children to make a mess"

At least I'm not the only one that found Blue Peter a bit of a bore fest. My mum once made me take part in a design an energy saving lightbulb competition and I questioned my abilities when a poorer drawer than I won it. It being picked at random was too much for me to fathom but the presenters sat in a panel judging thousands of children's drawings wasn't.



These were all the shows I knew my late mum adored growing up! I have just put Watch with Mother on for my one year old on youtube. He isn't glued to it as he would do to modern kids shows as it's in B&W but equally he hasn't protested over it and has shown interest to The Herbs especially! he usually would protest if his usuals aren't on in the morning which is so nice. My house feels so calm. How amazing and beautiful is "mothers" voice and accent though! She is so soothing! If anyone finds ASMR soothing they would really enjoy Watch With Mother! He is still interacting with me, yet he is still enjoying it! Definitely will be something we are doing more of!

omg I loved this! very much not of my generation but my grandma gave me the videos of it as a child. Some of it was so bizarre, like that weird island, all of it is on youtube I think

Remember the Enchanted Castle? I was spooked by that scene where they do a stage show with an audience of made-up dummies which then come to life and start clapping.

Does anyone remember the serial Children of the stones - a genuinely scary series set in Avebury Wiltshire. They gave it another name in the series. Avebury is well worth a visit.

I just googled it was called El Nombre it was a segment in a show called number time and then it went on to be its own show I can still remember the little song when he was doing the numbers in the sand!

I think after newsround between 5.30 and 6 on BBC2 they had flash Gordon, monkey Harold Lloyd Laurel and Hardy etc. At 6 my tv time was up.

Monkey? With Pigsy? That was a favourite in our house too.

My nans house all she had to entertain us was a load of taped VHS' with recordings of Flash Gordon, the Littlest Hobo, shit wild west's that went on all day and creepy, ancient, anthropomorphic cartoons which quite frankly terrified me.
