Has Chase ever mentioned wanting a Kelly or Birkin ? Or anything Hermès ? Be it bags, belts, boots or jewellery. I would've thought that by now she would have graduated to Hermès / Goyard / VCA / Cartier ...
I believe she has an Hermès blanket. I would definitely want diamonds/fine jewelry instead of all the handbags she doesn’t useHas Chase ever mentioned wanting a Kelly or Birkin ? Or anything Hermès ? There is a bit of a game going. I’ve been fortunate myself in getting hold of a K (through my husband) having only ever bought a scarf and a couple of clic clac bracelets whereas friends who inquired shortly after have not managed to secure a bag, they’re still waiting. It was easier getting hold of the B&K during lockdown (here in the U.K. at least) as stores weren’t open and Hermes had bags waiting to be sold, and they don’t sell those bags online. Then again, they were still being quite selective as to who they were willing to sell to (really depends on how well you get on with the SA). All this from my SA who I’ve remained in contact with. Demand continues to go through the roof. I was at an Hermes store yesterday and overhead 5 ladies starting their wish list for the B, I was only there 10 mins.I wonder how much of the “game” is an urban myth though. I can’t help but think of Karen Britchick walking into Hermès just to see and then walking out with a Birkin. I know hers was probably a rare case, but it makes me wonder if demand is lower now.
I liked Amie way back when she first started. She had straight hair and was kinda cute for a 20+ something old. She wore cute pink and red bags. She only had a few bags and her shopping addiction wasn't that bad though she did buy Chanels and LVs too often. But she still was in her flat with Dan, and worked a 9-5 regular job. She was more relatable.A few years ago, I really liked her and her channel. I like how it seemed she had worked hard in her career to be earning enough to buy the things she likes. Later on, it seemed to me that she would just buy anything, and buy a lot! I don't believe she is using every bag she buys and I don't see how she can give a fair review for her viewers. It also seems like she rushes into purchases without any thought or research - I remember one time, she bought a Gucci wallet on chain, opened it up and was so surprised that it had a mirror inside. I would be more interested if she took the time to consider her purchases and do an in-depth review, something that will be more useful rather than the usual handbag hauls every week, or change up her content.
She still seems stuck in the LV/Chanel stage for her high fashion brands and then also obsessed with basic YSL bags that looks like they’re from river island in every neutral colour. She’ll probably jump onto Hermes, Cartier and VCA in the next few years considering she’s quite behind on trends in general she seems to come to everything a little too lateHas Chase ever mentioned wanting a Kelly or Birkin ? I totally agree. The Hermes Birkin and Kelly aren't all that. I personally prefer bags with an edge to them (like the Chanel boy bag) - but that's my preference (not that I have money for the Chanel boy).Maybe she just doesn't care for Hermés styles. I don't care to ever own a Birkin even though I think the 25 is nice, but I think Kelly is one of the most basic granny-ish bags I've ever seen - my opinion - and any other Hs I've seen I thought were weird. I don't care for the brand at all. Sure she could spend less on the crap she likes, but I'd have even less respect if she blew £10+k on a bag she doesn't even like.
It seems like she’s shopping for the fleeting high/content and likes on social media since she’s sold so many bags that she barely used. I still can’t get over how she sells bags that Dan got for her, but then again I’m very sentimental.I totally agree. The Hermes Birkin and Kelly aren't all that. I'm not even sure Amie likes her bags. I thought part of the fun of buying luxury bags was the research, the saving up, the savouring and the using of the bags. Not sure Amie does that - more like she just clicks her computer and have things shipped to her place. When you have so much stuff, do you actually enjoy them anymore?
A lot of bags in Amie's collection looks way too old for her - she sold a lot of the bags that I like. I'm a sucker for Chanel boy bags because they're young looking. I feel honestly that Amie should have stopped her bag collection 4-5 years ago. She could have branched her channel in another direction - young professional in the city, starting your own business, how the pandemic affected her business, capsule wardrobe, using what you have, fast cooking after work, etc... I think she expected to do lots of sponsored deals with companies such as My Therese or FarFetch - but most of those companies pay in affiliated links and vouchers for their products. It's certainly not a long term strategy you can earn your living by, more like to get some extra cash on the side sort of thing. It's not like Amie is rolling in subscribers - they've been stagnant. It seems like she’s shopping for the fleeting high/content and likes on social media since she’s sold so many bags that she barely used. Two reasons come to mind: 1) Content for her "luxury haul" videos. 2) She doesn't understand style, so when a thing doesn't work, she doesn't take that information and learn from it. Instead, she keeps reverting to her comfort zone of the same 3 bags in the same narrow color range, thinking: "Well, maybe this time..." This would also explain why her channel has barely evolved since its inception. She won't branch out into the topics you suggested because it's too foreign to her. She likes her bubble of girly, blush pink Shnells and Pinterest house and silk camis.Amie bought and sold 2 Chanel Deauville totes. I can never understand why Amie buys and then sells 2 more bags of the same sort - like the Gucci Marmonts. If the first one didn't work out, why get the second in another colour?
agreed. and if she wasn’t interested in talking about new topics or other ideas that would actually grow her channel, then she should have focused on her actual corporate job and kept youtube as a side hobby (as she originally kept insisting was her intent). maybe then her shopping addiction would have also been kept in check.I feel honestly that Amie should have stopped her bag collection 4-5 years ago. she was in marketing. at the time she started her channel i think she was already a senior in her field so her salary would have been respectable. combined with Dan’s (he’s in financial services?) it would have afforded them a comfortable lifestyle, though probably not the bling bling lifestyle she tries to portray where one has a department store-like walk in closet and a wall of Chanel in every colour. Can someone clue me in on when exactly Amie started doing Youtube full-time? I don't follow her closely (just when I feel like dragging herso I may have missed that.
I agree with your sentimentality. My aunt gave me a Burberry wallet and scarf that is not my style at all, but I kept it because my family is spread out throughout the world and I don't really see them very often. I could have easily sold those for some money, but when it is gifted with the best intentions, I can't just let it go even though I am not a fan of the look of the item, it is the thought that counts. It seems like she’s shopping for the fleeting high/content and likes on social media since she’s sold so many bags that she barely used. I remember when she lived in London, she and Dan ran a business together, but does she still do that since they've moved? I don't remember her saying she quit all that to just do YouTube.she was in marketing. at the time she started her channel i think she was already a senior in her field so her salary would have been respectable. combined with Dan’s (he’s in financial services?) it would have afforded them a comfortable lifestyle, though probably not the bling bling lifestyle she tries to portray where one has a department store-like walk in closet and a wall of Chanel in every colour.
