Ive just finished the doc. I was a bit surprised to learn one it wasnt a lamp, and two, the blood was actually hers. I dont remember ever seeing any article stating it wasnt Lewis' - maybe I missed it. Whilst what she did was terrible, if she wasnt who she was, lets be honest, the case wouldve been dropped. We've seen it a million times over, women who are victims of DV, are not heard - most of the time, until they've been killed. And it all comes out then that they were failed by the police

Caroline was clearly fragile, clearly hanging on by a thread even before that happened I truly believe. As soon as the tide turned in the press, she'd never have coped

I don't really understand Lewis' post though. Nothing in the doc was a lie - he did get a text from another woman, she reacted, he called the police after she said her life would be over if he did (rightly so that he did btw) He said he didnt want her to be charged, but yet he sent the bloodbath photo to his friend who then sold it. Whats he got to clarify exactly? Thats the chain of events and even though its not his fault she killed herself, thats the truth and is why it led to her not wanting to be here anymore
Why ring the police? He was hit once. He woke up. And could have just been like wtf. Could have calmed her down and spoken to her and sorted out the situation. This wasn't a frenzied attack....where his life was in danger? Not that we know of. Fair enough if he really thought she was going to kill him but I doubt it. We know he lied about the lamp. The blood wasn't even his. So why ring the police, she wasn't holding a knife to his throat that we know of. He was caught out cheating and turned it around on her, in my opinion. He even supposedly had said he was gonna ruin her. Then for social media he played the loving and doting boyfriend. Yes she shouldn't have hit him but I imagine she was so upset that he was cheating on her and she had a moment of madness where she's clipped him with her phone on his head and obviously because he's been asleep, it's probably a huge shock and makes it seem worse than it is?

The thing which gets me is the photo...imagine your partner has slit their wrists and you're alone in your partners house. You take a photo of your partners blood and send it to a mate/ex. That isn't normal behaviour either and if that photo hadn't got out, maybe it wouldn't have seemed half as bad for Caroline. Just my opinion and I know others will disagree

Even if all of that is true it still doesn’t change the fact that she assaulted him. Victims don’t have to be likeable or nice people to be victims.
Yeah true. But imagine if he had been gaslighted her for months. We just don't know do we. No one deserves to be hit on the head while asleep though but I can understand why she was so mad.

Yes I would if a female sent a pic to a friend of a boyfriend’s blood all over the bed who’d been self harming. Knowing the press interest in the case and that he didn’t want to press charges, he had no business stirring things up and sending a pic to someone.
Yeah exactly. The picture. It's about respect. Respect for your partner. People seem to forget he was cheating on her. He didn't give two hoots about her. Not one bit. That's a calculated move taking a picture which he knows can be easily sent on and sold for money. He knew it would get out. I can imagine he sent it along with the words of what a pyscho witch. Etc etc.

Yes she shouldn't have hit him but due was deeply hurt and angry that her whole relationship with him had been a lie whereas she thought it was love. It's so very sad.

You’re right we just don’t know so why can you understand why she was so mad?
She went snooping on his phone while he was asleep and didn’t like what she saw. That didn’t give her the right to assault him. She was a 40 year old famous woman who had been dating a nobody in their 20’s for 4 months so the power imbalance was in her favour not his. She had a history of unhealthy intense short term relationships so I don’t think you can blame him for her behaviour.

We don’t know if he was cheating on her and even if he was that still does not give her the right to assault him.

He didn’t lie about the lamp. If you had read the CPS review someone posted earlier he didn’t know what he had been hit with. He thought it was a lamp or maybe a desk fan. Remember he had been woken up by being assaulted, maybe he absolutely did in that moment think his life was in danger. It wasn’t until later it was established it was a mobile phone. He also wasn’t caught cheating as far as we know either. Reports suggest it was an 60 year old tennis client. And it shouldn’t matter either way, she attacked him, you can cookie crumble it all you want. He is the victim, she is the perpetrator. Just because it wasn’t a knife to his throat this time, doesn’t mean to say it might not be some other time. She obviously wasn’t in control of herself if she whacked him on the head with enough force to draw blood.
It’s also crappy of whoever sold the picture to the The rum and also The rum for publishing it. Lewis didn’t sell it to the rum. But we don’t know on what basis he sent the photo. Why is he responsible for everyone else’s crappy actions in this scenario?

The police body cam footage showed the attending officers had to physically restrain her. I would assume to stop her attacking Lewis or the police themselves.

You’ve obviously never been around an emotionally erratic person under the influence of alcohol (and if rumours were to be believed ❄). Said person has woken you up by battering you over the head then proceeded then to cut themselves again I assume with something glass as this was mentioned in the 999 call. Any normal person would be terrified regardless if they themselves are a cheat

She still assaulted him and he has every right to phone the police. You are making out it was a spilt second of madness but for someone to then cut themselves to the point theres blood all over the bed and then when taken into custody goes batshit crazy again....that's an episode and you and I have no clue if he feared she would do him more harm.

As for the photo im pretty sure he took that so she couldn't claim he had done that to her. He was the victim in this instance but she could have swung it round and said he had done that. Im sorry but if the shoe was on my foot and my partner assaulted me then started cutting themselves im sure as hell going to document it so I dont get accused of being the instigator!

There was stories about them months before, and they were photographed arguing on a yacht in ibiza (it's on the Lewis Burton thread) so I'm guessing she was suspicious for a long time about cheating etc...so I'm only guessing. I've been in situation before where my ex would completely gaslight me and tell me I'm crazy and tell me i am insane etc when in reality I was exactly right with my intuition. Whilst I didn't hit my ex, I'm sort of emphasising with her tbh because I was so mad I felt like I could have done. If she had been mistreated for months by him, I can see why she did something so wrong broke the law by assaulting him in a moment of complete and utter turmoil.

Yeah true. I've never been around people in that state ❄ so I have no idea and maybe he did fear for his life which is fair enough ringing police in that situation.

I just find it so sad that she made this one huge mistake and ended her life over it. I just find it heartbreaking for her friends and family.

They'd only been together for 12 weeks. He hadn't been doing anything for months. Cheating on someone after 3 months is "don't let the door hit you on the way out" territory. If it winds you up to the point you're unable to stop yourself from beaning them while they sleep, you've got a problem that needs to be addressed.

It’s possible to think that Lewis is potentially a bit of a douche, but that he was a victim of assault perpetrated by Caroline and he was right to call the police due to her violent behaviour, and think that it’s desperately sad that she ended her life over this all at the same time.

We know from what her friends have said that she was a fragile soul and wasn't as strong as that to be that kind of woman who is like oh well...his loss. I get the impression she just wanted to be loved and settle down but always chose the wrong man. Doesn't help that they were younger than her. Yes she was deeply troubled and needed help. It's sad that now she ended her life over her actions. If it was my best friend, I'd be devastated, no matter what they had done.

It's an absolute tragedy that Caroline died but all this rewriting of the facts is wrong. Yes she was a troubled soul but she hit someone. Change the roles and if this was Lewis there would never be this conversation. She hurt someone it was wrong.

I absolutely agree. Having just read the Lewis burton’s thread last night, he seems like one nasty piece of work who was totally gas lighting her! Yes she absolutely did wrong, but anyone can make a mistake in the heat of the moment when drinking and upset. To then say he’s going to ruin her and take a pic of her blood and send to a friend is cruel!

The report said the only drugs she had in her system were antidepressants.
