That really irked me... because it’s actually racist what she’s saying. She’s a total hypocrite. She constantly bashes white women and that’s okay because we have white privilege? Nah... that’s not okay Candice, it’s just not.
There’s no such thing as reverse racism...but I agree she’s often rude and assumptive about ‘white women’ and clumps the whole group together like everyone is the same. I used to really enjoy her writing about diversity and learnt a lot but I find it all too self-serving now

You just have to look at Sudan as a perfect example. Not a single person on Tattle did a thread about it in the News section...but what thread are we on now for these influencers like Meldrum and Conway? Racism is so heavily ingrained into you that you dont even realise.

Of course people do it, which I challenge daily. The topic here is CB though, hence my comment only relating to her. To be honest, Tattle isn’t where I would come to discuss world topics such as Sudan, politics or other world issues. There are more appropriate places to do that for me. I agree that a lot of white people (including myself) have a huge amount to learn still about issues that are important to me such as feminism, racism, inclusivity, the LGBTQ+ community, diversity, ableism etc and I’m challenging myself to do the work myself and keep reading/learning. The difference between myself and a lot of influencers is I’m willing to state I’m still work in progress and will keep learning as I go...I hold my hands up when I make mistakes. I just can’t stomach how ‘preached to’ I often feel by CB. I think she assumes all white women are blinded by their privilege and fragility
She also clumps together all black women too which I got sick of. Obviously there are issues of race which may be applicable, but she used to generalise about 'black women do/think...'. There can be huge differences culture/tradition wise between women of north and South Sudan for example, so I assume Black women of Barbados have a different culture to those in Nigeria (she said herself her in laws had issues with her being Bajan) I got the impression that she felt all Black women around the world are like the women she knows in Brixton.

Because, to my understanding, this is what racism is defined as:
prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.
Candice is constantly antagonistic about WHITE WOMEN... she mentions the fact that they are white constantly and is often prejudiced and discriminatory towards them. So what if white women want lip fillers? Does it matter? Does she NEED to comment on the colour of their skin? Can’t she just say she’s against lip fillers, period? Imagine if a white woman said “oh it’s like when black women have their hair straightened” or “it’s like when black women dye their hair blonde” it’s racist! Simple as!
Racism and prejudice are different - prejudice can exist against white people on an individual level. Racism describes a system of disadvantage based on race. White people can experience prejudice from non-whites but it isn’t racism. Racism is a concept that exist on an individual and institutional level...this quote from an article explains better than I can: “At its core, racism is a system in which a dominant race benefits off the oppression of others -- whether they want to or not. We don't live in a society where every racial group has equal power, status, and opportunity.”
In simple terms, white people do not miss out on job opportunities, fair treatment by police, equal opportunities in education or healthcare because of their race. That’s racism. Individual negative thoughts or behaviours against white people is prejudice, bigotry, ignorance etc but you can’t call it racism. I hope that explains.
I've said this before probably in the Meldrums chat, I am a women of colour, and for the sake of not saying where I'm originally from (lolz) most people where I am from are MIXED race (big melting pot of races / cultures), manyyyyyy are 'coloured'. I'm not a huge fan of the word, I don't really agree with it, mostly because it creates a binary opposition of white vs coloured, or white vs black, light vs dark, etc etc.
And as for CB trying to bring race into -everything- it pisses me off. But this is her 'calling card' so why I am not surprised. Some of what she is says is very relevant (ain't no fan of hers), and she did have a point regarding maybe some women do internalise and sexualise black men, but her constant aggressiveness to belittle people and maintain a level of prejudice shrouded in being 'woke' is just BS.
I think so many of the women on the CB thread are incredibly intelligent regarding race and exclusive / inclusiveness, and it's so engaging. Maybe CB should take a look.... but yeah that's not gonna happen.

Thank you. I’ll correct myself then and say she’s being prejudiced towards white women rather than racist. I think I obviously took the dictionary definition of racism too literally.

I think a lot of what ends up as a Tattle thread is what is being talked about/trending. Not many influencers spoke about Sudan. Nilly Dahlia, Muhlia,Messiah Kaeto are the ones I follow who did.
Mainstream media has covered Sudan, they don’t cover the Meldrum saga or what tiles the Conways chose.
There are POC on Tattle who have not set up a Sudan thread, then again raising awareness of Sudan is not an issue of race as in my personal life I know people of all races speaking about Sudan. LGBQT issues, Yemen and other important topics do not have a thread on Tattle either.

I’m pretty sure as soon as you are aware you have taken something you haven’t paid for, and fail to return it, it becomes theft. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Someone could have accidentally donated them without realizing, especially if it belonged to some old lady who died and her family donated some of her things. They may not want them back but at least the charity shop could sell them. If she has been back to the charity shop and sorted it she should update her followers.
