Cabin crew gossip

I was cabin crew for 7 years. I wish I had written down a lot of my experiences with the general public because I could write book 😂.
In the end I quit because I could not deal with how idiotic and rude people were. And if I had a pound for every stupid question I was asked I would be a millionaire…
I used to sell my old shoes and tights to weirdos on depop and make quite a bit of cash 🤢
Never have ice in your drink, I’ve seen crew use the tongs to unclog the toilets and the drawers/buckets the ice are stored in are never cleaned.
The stopovers are so fun, all crew seem to love a drink and I’ve witnessed some outrageous nights out down route 😅
After years of saying I would never date one, I’m now married to a pilot - we met and hooked up on a stopover couldn’t be more cliche 😂😅

I never use kettles in hotels nr airports after reading that stewardesses use them to wash their knickers, is this true?
Never heard of this 😂😂 i never washed anything on stopovers I would just pack enough clothes/knickers for the trip 😂🤷‍♀️

I know a girl that was cabin crew for years. She would openly tell you they all used to sell their used tights on eBay 🤮😂😂😂😂
You wouldn’t believe the amount of weirdos that would pay good money for laddered primark tights 🤷‍♀️🤢

Don’t let it put you off! Honestly, I love my job. The good outweighs the bad SO much. Everyone says they’ll only do a year or two and are still there 20+ years later ☺
I second this! I moaned a lot about it but there’s no job like it. I miss the people I used to work with everyday. It’s really good fun.
I was only supposed to do a year but stayed for over 7 …

I have a few tales on this!

someone I know (pilot) was dating a cabin crew member. When the captain found out he said “well what’s the point in dating the crew if you can’t take full advantage, I’m going to the bathroom for 15 mins” and the girl came in and gave him a blow job on the flight deck 🙈 they only didn’t bag because she was on her period

Maybe not all of them but I’d say a high percentage of both cabin crew and pilots will have been on the lash the night before your flight

Years and years ago there was a story of a girl who was too short to be a flight attendant so she had her bother leg broken and then stretch so she could be tall enough. Does anyone remember that story, it was in the press? I wondered what happen and did she actually get into her dream job.

Edit:// just found the story: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/1147874.stm
My friend was on the children’s ward with her, said she was a cat who would try and get re-admitted if she had an argument with her family!

The cabin crew I'm not so bothered about but the pilots though.....!
I'd be bothered about both, flight crew and cabin crew. If a still pissed from the night before pilot crashes a plane but there are still survivors, I would hope the cabin crew weren't also the same in order to evacuate the remaining passengers safely.

Some airports Amsterdam being one of them, will do random drug/alcohol testing on pilots. There’s a rule that they can’t have any alcohol 14 hours before duty starts. Most of them are sensible and wouldn’t risk loosing their careers over a drink. There will always be a few that do take that risk though …

Haha yeah I don’t care if you’re hanging and you have to put on full make up and heels to pick up my rubbish, but pilots need to grow the duck up right?

Cabin crew are soooo much more than picking up rubbish.

They are the ones looking after you if you fall ill or there is an emergency situation. I would rather they weren't breathing vodka breath over me and were at full capacity and not hanging thanks.

A couple of pilots were caught, and imprisoned for trying to breach drink flying regulations at Glasgow airport a few years ago.

Wow! what an insult to a group of people who are there to look after you.
Are you aware that cabin crew are trained in firefighting, Childbirth, dealing with deaths on board, evacuating hundreds of people should the plane crash on land or water, disruptive passengers and so much more? Of course pilots are important...they're flying the plane, but they sure as hell ain't gonna leave the cockpit to come and perform mouth to mouth and CPR on you or your loved ones if they were to have a heart attack ( more common than you would think) during a flight.

Thank you @Pampas . You've put it better than I ever could.
The nerve and condescending attitude of some people is absolutely unbelievable
