Bit of a boring week!
Noticed the spin off South, where Tracy and Jamie go to London is on STV, don't think I've ever seen it.
I don't remember this at all! I was obsessed with the Damon and Debbie spin off but on a rewatch it was crap! I really really enjoyed South. What a shame Jamie didn't stay longer term; I thought he was a really likable and convincing character.

The Damon and Debbie spin off was awful! Haven't watched South yet, I liked Jamie to, sad to read the actor who played him died, only 54. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/inquest-death-actor-sean-mckee-10378671

Just finished watching the latest five. I can always totally predict when an episode has been written by Jimmy McGovern!

Lacey Turner is doing a podcast ‘We started here’ and she interviews- well I use the term interview loosely 🤣 Jimmy McGovern about his Brookside days

Not sure if baby Claire is still reading here but there was lots of front and centre acting in these episodes!

I always wonder with really young child actors if they have to sit and totally explain that it's make believe. It must be so confusing when they say things like: "There's Daddy". In one of these episodes Sheila is asking Claire what she'd like for lunch and I always wonder if the child actually then gets that! Also there's such a lot of conflict and rowing and even if they explain the pretence of it do very young children get upset in those moments?

I came here to post exactly this!
How funny, the same thoughts were going through my mind when I was watching these episodes.
How well baby Claire coped with it was amazing

That was uncomfortable viewing between Bobby and Sheila.
And poor Claire having to witness that fallout between Kathy and Jimmy.

This week’s episodes were the last we saw of Bobby Grant. Apparently Ricky Tomlinson walked off set hence why there was no proper goodbye scene. We just saw Sheila seeing he had emptied the wardrobe of his clothes. The scene earlier in that episode where Barry is listening at his bedroom door to Bobby & Sheila arguing downstairs I suspect was just a audio replay of a previous argument between them hence why we didn’t actually see Bobby

Apparently Ricky was unhappy with the direction his character had gone over the last year or two

I stole these from the Digital Spy Classic Brookside thread but the singer Sonia and one of the sisters from The Reynolds Girls (of one hit wonder ‘I’d Rather Jack’ fame), were passengers on the bus that Sheila & Kathy took on the way home from the nightclub

Sonia stood next to ‘Zak Dingle’ at the bus stop and sat in front of Sheila on the bus

and one of The Reynolds was sat behind Sheila. Here she is on the left behind the vacated seat when Sheila & Kathy get up to get off the bus

Can't blame Ricky, his character changed overnight and it wasn't nice to watch so can imagine to act it out was a tough slog.

Good spot! I was engrossed in the bus scene but didn't notice the extras. Loving the humour that has been introduced in recent episodes 😀

It was a bit of a patchy, dare I say It, boring week
I suppose if Ricky Tomlinson left unexpectedly, stort lines had to be hastily re written.
I follow the thread on Digital Spy as its so interesting to read what they think.
There are some really thoughtful posts but there's one poster, Styker who could have an argument in an empty room!
Apart from that they very often mention the same.things we do regarding stories, characters etc
