To be fair to Brian & Arthur I always got the impression (long before the surrogacy) that they already seemed to look after Aoife. In fact (and I have absolutely no reason why) I always felt a little sad that she seemed to be on her own and that B&A thought so too and they seemed to out of their way to include her.

They've said she moved to London and moved in with them years ago.

I always only had the impression that Brian (& Arthur) absolutely adore all the women/sisters in their lives (and all their kids...and Donal & Sophie Skehans kids!).

I get why people could find Brian an absolute dose, but some of the cynicism people are viewing his relationship with Aoife with or his reasons for wanting kids when he so clearly dotes on the other kids in his life I don't get.

It's not aoifes egg, she's carrying it.
They know who the biological father is but they aren't sharing that information as they are both the child's father.

It’s not Aoife’s egg but just wondering how surrogacy works in Ireland. Wont she have to be the child’s mother on the birth cert as she’s giving birth to the child? I know it’s not hers biologically.

Surrogacy doesn’t actually “work” in Ireland in that there’s no regulation of it at all. So by Irish law the mother has to go on the birth certificate, not the egg donor. A birth certificate is supposed to be an accurate record of birth so it makes sense that the birth mother has to be listed on it
Aoife will be listed as the baby’s mother on the birth certificate. I assume Arthur will be listed as the father. Brian will be able to apply for guardianship/adoption of the child when it reaches the age of 2.
I know some people might think this is harsh and that two men should be allowed to be on the birth cert, but Ireland has a long horrible history of messing with people’s birth certs and leaving birth mothers off them leaving people with no idea of where they came from (like peopel born in mother and baby homes or who were adopted) so it’s important that the birth mother is on the cert.

Aoife is living the time of her life at them moment, invited everywhere they go, lunches and dinner out. I fear when the baby arrives she won't be wanted as much, what will she do then. It'll be very lonely for her.

If they carry on like now after the baby is born Aoife will essentially be the baby's mother. The child will instinctively want to be with her anyway from her smells to sound. It's not really a great situation for any of them imo.

We can all pretend in la la land this will all have a happy ending because they're a gay couple and it's amazing alot of us now know same sec couples who have kids and it's not a walk in the park most are obvious to see which woman ect carried the baby. I'm sure baby will be loved but they're too overboard it's going yo be a huge shift in all their lives and I don't think having your sister carry your baby was the right decision it's wayyý too close to home and with 2 men with big personalitys she won't get a minute from what I can see and she's too close to stay away either everyone will be told she's grand and I'm sure aoife thinks she'll be fine but nothing prepares u for those after birth hormones.

That episode was well worth a listen, it was a very good story. A lot of information in it. I still feel that surrogacy is a huge undertaking which should not be entered into lightly.

But in the podcast the sisters state that in New Zealand where they had their surrogacy journey u are only allowed carry someone else's child once you've finished your own family or at least birthed your own child as this is most ethnically appropriate situation am I right Brian's sister has no children so actually it makes this situation more real to have concerns?
