I’m almost certain Ronan was from Swords. Think Wikipedia is wrong there saying Kilbarrack.
i've his book on my shelf, says his parents met in Raheny. Ronan was born when they lived at wilson estate noth county dublin they moved to Bayside when he was 1, then to county meath then back to bayside then back to dunshauglin county meath. Then when he joined Boyzone he was in Swords

I finally watched the show and I have to say I am not feeling the same about Louis as the vast majority. He had a job which was to make them famous and in turn make himself a tit load of money, that is exactly what he did. In those days the way to get publicity was in the papers or on tv. The bands were not accessible as they are today with youtube, tik tok etc. and he did what most managers were doing which was peddling stories. He would be a wick in the same way that any person managing a popular band like that would probably be a bit of a wick.

I absolutely do not think he had anything to do with the Stephen outing story, which was horrendous. At the time the fear was that his sexuality would torpedo the band if it came out and I cannot see any manager doing this. They like the money too much. In fact, Louis had previously said if he had known about Stephen's sexuality at the outset, he probably wouldn't have picked him. They needed lads that looked to be available for the teen girls in the audience. His reaction to the front page was a bit odd - but i think that was his pride at getting him a good spread in the paper. I also thought Ronan's reaction to it was over the top tbh. Michelle's reaction seemed more genuine.

As for the band I think in the end their egos just clashed. Ronan had an ego from the beginning and Keith and Shane were still larking around as the 'backing dancers' and not really taking it seriously. Mikey had taken on more vocals after Stephen's death and therefore felt more pressure and igt all became a boilerplate which erupted. I will agree with one thing said, Stephen was the glue that held the band together.

Also, i found Ronan fake as duck during the whole thing. I'd say he watched all the other interviews before recording his own. He was an executive producer and still didn't come across well, to me.

All MOO

I caught up with the Boyzone documentary while off sick. It was sad in a few places, and Louis is a bleep. Stephen's lovely sister, bless her, her contributions were good. I hope Mikey can find peace and just remember the good bits.

However I loved being transported back to my adolescence. I was 15 when Stephen was outed, and I remember it was big news in my South London don all girls school classroom. However the unanimous reaction, from Boyzone fans and those who didn't care for boybands at all, was "so what? That's his business, as long as he is happy." Homophobia was no doubt rife still in those times, but us young 'uns didn't care. I'm glad that came across to him from the crowds after he had all that pressure and upset. I also hope in a roundabout way that a weight was lifted after living a lie, even if it did happen in such a gross manner.

Keith and Shane seem like such fun guys. Ronan is a bit of a gob but I still like him, there is an insecure earnest guy under that arrogance.

I actually forgot this was a thing until the documentary mentioned it 😄
This is absolute solid gold 😂 the outfits, the Irish accent rap, the girlies loving their part... I too forgot it existed. What a time.

They were both so gorgeous! And still are, but I'm disappointed Keith fixed his teeth. I have since found out he did a documentary called Keith's Teeth: A Dental Odyssey and I need to figure out how to watch this in the UK.

No way! I'd love to watch his teeth documentary strangely 😅 I did think his old teeth looked pretty cool but can see why he had them done!

LADS, emergency 🚨🚨

There's a brand new 5ive Instagram page! And Ritchie's cleared his profile in preparation for an announcement at the end of the month. Could they have persuaded J and Abs to return so we have a full reunion? Did Boybands Forever act as a healing experience and they're ready to relive the good times and pay the bills? I'm hoping so! Take my money, kings! (P.S. Abs I still love your solo album x).

Edit: yes it's all five of them! They registered a company just a couple of days before my birthday, what a gift 😍 I'm perched.

I do find it amusing how a lot of these 90s bands will trundle along in a depleted form (5ive, S Club) for years, doing the nightclub circuit, then they'll randomly reunite as a full group every few years and do a proper big comeback with an arena tour. It's the circle of life. But good for them! I'd do it for the money too, it must be nice to have that to fall back on to build up your pension :ROFLMAO:

Wonder if Cowell is behind this reunion? I assume he'd still have rights to the profits regardless?

If they've started their own company I don't think he's involved (hopefully)? But he'll no doubt get some passive income.

I got a emotional at Abs' return, then J tipped me over 😅 My finger is poised to book my tickets.
