I’m feeling a bit conflicted as I do find Gary Barlow quite unbearably smug but Robbie is coming over quite paranoid and it’s a bit one sided. Like the manager says he’s also a bit of a wanker himself.

Aww remember Shelley’s and Ravel too?! My mum used to get her clubbing shoes from Dolcis’ 😂
Ravel was the slightly classier girls. The cool ones went to Shelley's and Faith. Dolcis a slight notch down. Mine mostly came from Shoe Express 😂

Jonathan Knight was one of my first crushes. The first of many times I fell in love with a gay man.

Just finished it all. Louis is a cunt.

I'm a bit conflicted on Mikey's stance and I think he is as well to an extent. He says the good outweighed the bad, yet he's focusing on the bad as a reason to not meet the lads for a pint. It's a sad way to leave things after 19 years together. And yet, despite his soap boxing over 3 episodes, he didn't say no to a reunion show 🙄
It wasn’t really explained why they fell out so spectacularly to never speak for so long. It can’t just be due to Ronan feeling they were unprofessional on the tour. It seems like something is being left out which for a ‘no holds barred’ documentary seems a bit off and convenient if it shows Ronan in a more positive light.

I’m a 90’s teenager who lived for boys bands so this was right up my street. My number one band were (and still are) Boyzone so the lack of coverage on them was disappointing to say the least. However, I was also a big fan of East 17 and I always feel they get overlooked when it comes to nostalgia on 90’s music. I really enjoyed seeing Tony, Terry and John taking part and being interviewed. I saw Tony being interviewed last year when the Lidl Christmas advert was released with the take on Stay Another Day. He said he only agreed to it if proceeds went to charity, so Tony is a good ‘un 👍🏻

Gary, Mark and Howard did their own retrospective in a program with Dermot O’Leary which I am sure is still available on iPlayer. Perhaps they feel there wasn’t anything new or different to add on this show.

I think with hindsight we can all see that there just wasn’t room for both Gary and Robbie in the same band. Personally I don’t see one as being better than the other, they’ve both had incredible highs and lows over the last 30 years. Yet, here we are in 2024 and both still sell out arenas and stadiums with music that’s 30 years old. There’s room for them both - Robbie and Take That. Happy days!

There‘s so much to unpick with life in the 90’s. The control by the media is absolutely insane, and it wasn’t just boybands. Everyone who was remotely famous either had their life changed or destroyed by the press. Pop stars, sports stars, soap actors, politicians, the royal family, you name it, they all had their lives made a misery. One thing I do love about the 90’s is the lack of botox and lip fillers, what a time to be alive!
Agree about the lack of Botox and fillers...
Everyone looks the same now!

Ronan is a dick but I do respect the love he had for Stephen, same as rest of the band especially when they spent the night in Church with his body :(

I nearly saw Stephen live as City in the Park Nottingham he was originally the sub headliner but something happened & we got Ronan instead.
Who actually was alright was a big allday concert on hottest day of the year

So glad I grew up in the boy/girl band era, I don't mind a lot of the music around nowadays, it'sjust not the same. You can't help but sing along to a pop song from the 90/00s.

I saw Five last night, they surprised me (in a good way). The atmosphere was buzzing.

Ha yes hormones were definitely present but I would not have fancied Tony Mortimer an at all the same way if he hadn't written lines like "Outside it's raining but insider it's wet" and "I'll butter the toast if you lick the knife".

Steam is probably the best sex song of the 90s. Let the lake of love flow 💗

I’m just catching up now, what an epic trip down memory lane! Makes me feel so old and nostalgic though. All these young kids in their heyday and now everyone is grown up and middle aged (including me 😂). Gotta say though the vast majority have definitely improved with age and come across so much better now they’ve matured. And Lee Brennan 😍

I did a bit of band following in the 90s, originally TT, Gary was always boring, Mark was always a nice boy, Jason was nice too, Howard a bit off, and Robbie, well, as you would expect. I hated him For years, but definitely appreciate his self awareness now. did a fair bit of smash hits show on the road with backstreet boys, n sync, five, 98 degrees, A1 and eventually latched on to Westside/life. Bryan was always horrible, Mark sweet, Nicky nice, Shane beautiful and Kian the most fun and had a lot of time for you in those early days, but they got big quick and frankly I was too old to carry on with that life any longer 😂

Watched all 3 episodes now. It could have had a couple more imo also but like a previous poster it's hard to get them all to agree now they have moved on. Very raw and emotional times for them all, I don't think 1 of them said it was fantastic :(

I woke up this morning and just had to find out what happened to Precious.

One of them, Kalli, is Zara Larsson's manager.

Anya who was a model in J17 etc before the band (and I feel like she dated Duncan from Blue?!) now works at Barry's Bootcamp, is still gorgeous, doesn't seem to have pumped her face with injectables yet still can slice bread with her cheekbones. I just looked it up, she was engaged to Duncan. But also I just read that Lee claims he and Duncan had a sexual relationship within the band. This is too much boyband gossip for a Sunday morning, I haven't even had a cup of tea yet.

Sophie who was also a CBBC presenter now seems to be selling snake oil with "the UK's leading female biohacker" Jude Cunningham off Hollyoaks, Davinia Taylor.

I couldn't find anything about Louise.

Jenny we all know about, of course, but I didn't know about this unorthodox wedding guest attire she wore to Natasha's nuptials a few years ago! She looks amazing but I don't think I'd ever be brave enough to get my titties out at a wedding.

I think obscure girlbands would be my specialist subject on Mastermind.

Oh that was a sad watch. Louis doesn’t come across particularly well but I suppose at least he owns it - I feel like that was very much how things worked twenty odd years ago. He’s looking very old! Poor old Mikey seems quite damaged by it all, and the stuff about Stephen was heartbreaking. I didn’t realise it was when they had reunited which makes it all the more poignant.

I really don't like Brian McFadden at all, I wish others from Westlife were involved more in the show.

He laughs and seems so offended by talking about Kerry. Say what you will about her, but he wasn't there at all to bring up their kids. I think his daughters have spent more time with his parents than him over the years.

Westlife are so much better without him.
He's an arse. At the time he said he was leaving the band to be with his family and his kids etc, next thing you know he's gone solo, split from Kerry and moved to Australia. His eldest daughter moved to Ireland a few years back and went to secondary school over here, I think so she could do her leaving cert and lived with his parents. I think she might still be here.

I'd say the others didn't do the show because they're still in the band and tbh didn't have many issues it would seem. They did so much better without him. They were together longer as 4 than they were as 5.

Nicky started up a podcast and the first person he interviewed was Brian. I haven't listened to it but from what I've/ heard I don' think he went too easy on him.
---
I just watched that part and came on to say the same thing. Seemed cruel.
He cheated at his stag as well
I've also heard that both Brian and Kerry were off their heads on coke at their wedding so he's not one to be judging her.

I seem to recall J was asked about the line "ain't got no manners cos I eat with my fingers" in one of the magazines as it was a bit tame

his reply was something along the lines of "well, I can't sing 'aint got no manners cos I'll rip your daughter's panties off'" 😆
