It's why I love musicmagpie and world of books and charity shops so much. They are so cheap I can indulge in the buying books hobby so much more.
Absolutely! Abe Books are a good site too. I don't buy hardbacks or new releases in bookshops and will wait until the books I want are much cheaper. Great to get a new paperback in a charity shop for 25p though! I'm lucky as i have an RSPCA just up the road and have got some great bargains there.
I can't pass a charity shop without dropping in to have a look at the books.
There is a Cancer Research near my Grandma that is the best one near me in terms of finding good stuff, and price. Normally all books are 4 for £1. They do individual pricing on some books, that are a bit more big ticket or popular etc. but even then, £1/2 is still a good price.
Finally a Guinness World Record attempt for the likes of me!

Those of you who buy from charity shops - I volunteer for Oxfam and we were told to put our prices up to £1.99 for a paperback. Does this seem reasonable to you? I don’t buy physical books but this seems a lot to me?
Oxfam is notoriously expensive I find. Especially in their oxfam book shops - to be honest £1.99 is still cheap compared to what I've seen in their bookshops.
I buy from BHF, and they charge this for a paperback. I only buy them for this when they're like new, honestly.
Cancer Research are the worst - on average £2.50 for a 2nd hand paperback. £1.99 is OK I would say.
Agree. When I first moved to London I went into the Oxfam bookshop, saw the prices were almost the same as new so went to the Waterstones round the corner instead. Now I’m curious whether the branch is still open!
My cancer research is 4 for £1. So clearly there is some major variation depending on location
There's one in York as well, so expensive. I got one book in there recently £4.99 not too bad a price because it was similar price second hand online, and I was unlikely to find it in a charity shop. So paid it. But generally I won't pay the Oxfam prices.

In the previous thread someone posted their GR bookmark choices and said something like "Hispanic and this one covers....." another category. I can't find that post or find a crossover book and an art the stage where my eyes are aching from longing.

I am completely underwhelmed by the new GR bookmark books. So many of them are what I would call 'filler' books. Written on the wave of success from a debut book and then falling short. Curious as to what everyone else has picked? All those witchy books made my eyes hurt. The decade of books...
