A rather eclectic haul of books I think.

Top 2 were pre orders from Waterstones.

The rest were bought from Postscript Books, mostly on sale, a few only 99p and therefore worth a try on some books I wouldn't normally take a risk on at full price.

And a little recipe book for trying new sweet treats.
Can't go wrong with Orwell.

I've got Geiger on my Kindle but haven't got round to it yet.

Forgot to share my books for May.

Cleopatra - Saara El-Arifi - 4/5
Really enjoyed this. I got a little confused with some of the people and place names but it didn't distract from the story.

Night Boat to Tangier - Kevin Barry
I think I read maybe five pages and DNF'd. The way it was written literally made me rage quit.

Kingfisher - Rozie Kelly - 4/5
I enjoyed this one too. The main character wasn't even slightly likeable but it still made me cry at the end.

Currently reading the "Booker Prize Winning" book Possession by A S Byatt.

It's a bit out of my comfort zone, but it's slowly reeling me in. I paused it yesterday to watch the film version. It's a 😥story.

This is one of my favourite reads of last year. I really got sucked in. Samuel West narrates the Audible version, and he does a very good job. I also bought the paperback afterwards to see the words on the page, because it is quite scholarly. It's definitely on my re-read list at some point. Very detailed and takes you on a journey.

The bookmarks you cannot see, and the three on the final row are

Editors' Picks - Nightcrawling by Leila Mottley 3*

Books on Books - This Book Won't Burn by Samira Ahmed 4*

AAPI Heritage - This Book Won't Burn by Samira Ahmed 4*

Summer Reading - His & Hers by Alice Feeney 3*

Escapist Reads - The True Happiness Company: How a Girl Like Me Falls For a Chilly Like That by Veena Dinavahi 4*

Pride Picks - A Family Matter by Claire Lynch 3*

And then the ones you can see:

Page Turner - just reading 2 books in April, I read 26 so.....

Speed Reader - just reading 3 books in April, I read 26 so.....

Book Boss - just reading 5 books in April, I read 26 so.....

Community Picks - Dear Debbie by Frieda McFadden 2*

Trending Books - Dear Debbie by Frieda McFadden 2*

---

I dislike Frieda McFadden immensely so why her book was picked twice I'm not sure. It may be because my rule of just 8 tbr books at any one time and I figured if I had her it would kill two birds with one stone. She hurts my eyeballs and it was a waste of reading time. 1.5* rounded up to 2*.

I think my favourite book was This Book Won't Burn it is a young adult book and does read as such. It was quite predictable, but I got a little bit teary eyed as the main character went on her journey.

Anyway, a full page of bookmarks pleases me!

I think I have to wait until 1st July for the summer challenge.

Well done! I’m on 10/12. I’m reading Fundamentally just now so if I finish that and one of the Editors Picks I’ll be done

Other than Page Turner/Speed Reader/Book Boss, I've only got two:

Marathon Reader & Editor's Picks, both from The Reformatory by Tananarive Due

I doubt I'll get any of the others.

I finished Kingfisher yesterday. Also really enjoyed it. The last paragraph was a beautiful depiction of grief

Reading 11 atm which is ‘Summer Reading’, hoping to squeeze in number 12 (Pride Pick) before 30th! Altho that’s a 500 page book so might be ambitious.

I had already read Fundamentally, annoyingly.

Actually that was my problem through a lot of the sections, I had already read the goods books that interested me so I ended up with what I would call trashy books.

Lonesome Dove / Keeper of Lost Children / Paper Girl / A Quiet Librarian I would have read those if I hadn't already. (Recommend them all, btw)
