I managed just over 100 last year and am aiming for around the same this year. I'm roughly on target having read 32 so far this year!

I’m glad I read The Correspondent before any hype about it, I’ve got the paperback of Heart the Lover on pre order.. comes out next week so looking forward to that arriving.

Uh oh Audition is my next one.. if it doesn’t make the shortlist maybe I should return rather than read it 🫣

I read about 150 a year and have done for about the last 5 years 😳😳

My mum definitely reads more than I do. My sister does at least 50 a year

One of my bookclubs we are all prolific readers so do over 50 each. My other, not so much, one new member was boasting about reading 30 books last year, the rest of her table just said HoGi probably reads that in a month 😬

I read 100+ last year with about 40 of those being audiobooks. I count them because it is still time spent engaging with the story.

My husband bless him got my old kindle, downloaded 1 book, has read a chapter, and that was a year ago. He also bought a non fiction book from a museum gift shop several months ago and the book is still in the paper bag on the shelf 😂 He says he just can't focus on a book. He reads tech stuff online and blogs etc, but just doesn't enjoy reading a book.

I barely watch any TV these days and I get to listen to audiobooks at work on quiet days so I feel lucky that I can fit it in.

I read two books on holiday and started project Hail Mary on the plane. I think I’m about 20% in, but it’s all a bit techy at the mo, so I need to figure out when to continue with it as I lose focus very easily with audiobooks unless I’m doing something like a long motorway drive.

Can anyone advise me of how borrowbox works for borrowing ebooks via the library ? My library has it and the second crescent city book is only available via ebook. Do I only get it to my phone? Not sure if I want to read on there.

and.. I have a national book token voucher to spend and I’m debating Yesteryear. But not sure I want to spend the hardback cash especially when they’re hard to hold. Saw above that Heart the Lover is coming out in paperback so might go for that.

re the women’s prize, I’ve read The Correspondent. Heart the Lover is high on my list, as is Wild Dark Shore. I’m also interested in Flashlight and A Guardian and a Thief. But generally I’m never up to date with new books as I’m a library reader mostly! I always feel a fraud voting in the Goodreads awards cos I’ve never read them usually 🤣 I try and read the winners in the following couple of years

It would come to your phone, or a tablet. You can also get the BorrowBox app on PC but I don’t know if anyone would sit at a PC/laptop to read. If you have a Kobo you can transfer BorrowBox books to it using Adobe Digital Editions but it’s a hassle if you have to renew your loan halfway through a book as you have to transfer it again as it gets a new licence.

Going back to the Women's Prize for Fiction, I have read quite a few. Not intentionally so, they have just cropped up.

I will start with my two favourites :

- The Best of Everything. This book pulled at every single one of my heart strings.Paulette is just beautiful. Gorgeous book. Read it!

- The Mercy Step. This book made me laugh and cry. Really worth a read. I think i would be friends with Mercy.

and then the rest :

Moderation. Please only read if you want your eyeballs to vacate your head.

The Benefactors. I have performed a Carapop and forgotten it the second I finished it. Unremarkable.

Wild Dark Shore. Just ok, don't understand the hype

The Correspondent. Sorry you lot, I just don't get all the likeable hype. I found Sybil utterly detestable. Distinctly average.

I’m waiting for Mercy Step to come out in paperback next week - so glad to hear it’s in your top two. I hadn’t paid much attention to Best of Everything (not sure why) but sounds like that was a mistake!

I thought Benefactors was very good - I’ve only just finished it though so maybe ask me again in a week lol
Agree on Wild Dark Shore.

Paradiso was my least favourite, it’s not a long book but the second half feels it. I think in part because it becomes very difficult to root for the main character/a little repetitive.
