I’ve just finished Annie Bot by Sierra Greer. Not my usual thing but I’m trying to branch out. I was gripped throughout but a bit confused by the end…has anyone else read it?

I read it last year and remember enjoying it but I can't remember how it ended

Small Boat by Vincent Delecroix

I think I'm just chasing the high of The Book of Disappearance with a lot of these more topical novels and I'm not getting it

Maybe I'm just not a critical enough reader but this didn't really do anything for me? I felt that the narrator was focusing on the wrong questions and when it came to the threads connecting and the larger message it just fell short for me - the asylum issue doesn't really need to be compared to the issues we see closer to home

A few of the other books I read left me with a lot more to think about and digest which I didn't really have with this book

I've stuck my neck out and ordered a different genre from the library.. Author seems popular and has written lots of books. Hopefully it's not creepy and I have to hide under the bedclothes Not sure if time travel is my bag.

What did you think to it? I enjoy Elly Griffiths books and feel they’ve got better over time

I’ve been in Windermere for a couple of days and just picked up a great charity shop book haul..
The Vanishing Half - Brit Bennett
The Cuckoo’s Calling - you all know..
Killer’s of the Flower Moon - David Grann
Precipice - Robert Harris (of Conclave)

£6 for all!

When it comes to charity shops the choices of books recently have left a lot to be desired.

February was a great month for me reading wise. I’ve not been well so not been going anywhere and have tried to doom scroll less, picking up my kindle much more often. I’ve also started listening to audiobooks at work more which always ups my numbers.

The Gone series, Lord of the Flies and Notes on a Nervous Planet are all rereads and I’ve enjoyed them just as much the second time round (or tenth in the case of TLotF!).

Biggest disappointment was The Midnight Feast - nothing happened! I loved the first couple Lucy Foley books I read but have been disappointed by the others. I don’t think I’ll read any more of hers.

I’m counting Fear in February reads as I finished it in the very early hours of yesterday.

Started The Wych Elm by Tana French and I'm finding it a bit slow going.

I've read The Likeness and In The Woods which I liked but so far in this all we've had is 100 pages of the main character's boring life and boring friends and boring family.

Does it get better?

Never read Paige Toon so I couldn't comment.
Despite the bawling I really liked it. Read it in less than a day so I must have.

ETA. I've now moved on to Erica James latest - The Forever Home. Describes itself as an uplifting read, so I might be able to hold off with the bawling on this book
