I have decided that I need to have a good clearout next year so I can't buy books until I have unhaul some. I mean I have done well this year to haul 565 books but I still need to unhaul more next year.

Is anyone still bothering with Heart for Christmas? Just read today’s chapter, I think I’m hate reading now.

75% of it was heart rate monitor chat. If I wanted that I’d strike up a conversation with a gym bro.
I’ve continued with it:

I decided to pick a book I’ve had on my kindle for ages…. Fingersmith. I’m enjoying it, but I feel like I’ve read it a lot over the last few day and I’m only a third of the way through!
I’ve got a 2.5 hour drive to do later today and I’m debating getting an audible trial. Initially it was to get Good Spirits (my obsession knows no bounds apparently) but I wonder if getting through another chunk of fingersmith would be better.

I finished North Woods yesterday, and it was.... 🤷🏻‍♀️

It got rave reviews when it came out but I'm not seeing it. It was rambling and disjointed and ultimately felt sort of pointless.

I thought I’d love this one but fell a bit flat for me. Love time jumps and connected stories so went in to it with high hopes but it was just fine.

I read this in 2023. I found it long and a bit odd. I know there was a lot of excitement about it because it was ‘lesbian Dickens’.

I finally finished the Strength of the Few. Loved it. I shouldn't read reviews though as people just annoy me with them 🤣 now a long wait for next one in the series

I knew nothing about it going in, I’m pretty sure I only bought it because it must have been on some buzzfeed list or something.
I went for good spirits in the end and oh my god the accents are so tit.

Thing is, it doesn't matter what other people think if you enjoy it.

I'm glad you loved it. I'm just quietly sat on this thread waiting for other people to read it and love it so I can rave about it with other people for the next however long until the final book comes out.

I’ve listened to The Examiner in the last couple of days and really enjoyed it. A great one for audio but I imagine the book format would be really good too.

I'm coming to the end of Last Rites by Ozzy Osbourne and I'm so glad that yet again I've not been caught by my family snivelling or giggling my way through the book.
As no one in my family is into books, behaviour such as tears pouring down one's face, or a giggle out of nowhere is considered to require a swift trip to the nearest funny farm!
This excerpt really made me giggle:
