The Secret Santa Project by Tracy Bloom, it’s a bit of a cheesy Christmas read but it’s okay so far.

Wow how did you know it was a fake? It’s cheaper on Amazon for Black Friday - £11.44. I had to do a second order and return the first as I paid £18 for mine!!

It didn’t have a hard cover and then this sticky label on the outside gave it away.

Has anyone read The Correspondent? Its my bookclub pick for Jan but I'm hoping to get a start on it today.

Just picked it up from the library, it’s going to be my Boxing Day book! Seeing it everywhere, I hope it lives up to the hype

Just read 'Franny and Zooey' by J.D Salinger. Didn't realise he'd even written any other books. I can see why he came a recluse if this was his next effort. Not read Catcher In The Rye for nearly 20 years but doesn't feel like one of those that is in need or a re-read.

Is Bookmory the one where you can do the calender that shows the book covers as you read them. I like that feature.

I have used Bookmory for about 2 years consistently.
I just use it to record my book reading, but I noticed it has other features I don't use, including the reading streak people on here have talked about.

I’m not an Elsie silver fan to be fair. I got three books into the chestnut spring series and it just does nothing for me. But they are there so I’ll probably read them at some point.
Everything on those pics now is stuff that either was a first reads purchase or I’ve heard is good.

I have ordered three today from the 99p deals - the wedding people, I think we’ve been here before and mate. I was also tempted by the Margaret Atwood and the Riley sagar ones but I’ll see how the month goes!

I'm reading Solenoid by Mircea Cărtărescu

I'm enjoying it however the way he writes about women is very off putting. The narrator is also a teacher so there are a number of references to students and even those are a bit questionable

I did some googling to see whether others felt similar and found a discussion on how it's a lot more acceptable in international fiction - someone mentioned French fiction also as an example - which I thought was interesting

It was published first in 2023, and the good reads reviews weren’t good to start with! Not sure how this year it’s magically been pushed onto everyone

I think it’s the gimmick of unwrapping a page a day. I wonder if it was originally like that

They are all a bit dramatic, aren’t they? She’s only been in Morzine for two weeks and not only has she been in love for a week already, she’s now banned from seeing him incase she faints again. And because she didn’t go home one night, and she’s not kept up with her studies. He’s such a bad influence. Are 18 year olds adults in France? Because everyone is behaving like she’s 15

I know. At 18/19 I’d often stay out overnight. I know I’m not a heart patient but still.

Just read The Distinctly Competent District Councillor, the new Jonas Jonasson book. Really short, less than 150pages, but such a fun little romp of a book.

Ooooh I'm almost finished with The Prophet and The Idiot so will have to borrow this one next! Thanks for the heads-up!
