Anyone know anything about Kobos? I absolutely hate the naff buttons and I still have my Kindle for normal use but I was thinking of getting a cheap second hand Kobo just for library books. I dont need anything fancy or any colour or note taking etc.. or a HUGE amount of storage but i have no idea which is which models etc..

Just signal boosting my own post here as it seems to have been lost in the ether..I was hoping to find on in CEX for about 20 or 30 quid. I don't need anything fancy just something thats better than reading on my android phone. I was looking at a few places to buy online but felt i might end up buying a dud and at least with CEX there's less likelihood of being ripped off or sold something that doesnt work.Not used to second hand electrical purchase.

As it's too late to read it first (which I didn't do but think in some ways is best) I can vouch for reading it after Crown of Midnight and before Heir of Fire.

I'm generally ok, but I did get a bit paranoid after complaints about presents i'd bought people - e.g. number one bestselling book had anal sex in it and I've forgotten what the child's mother complained about in a book or video I thought was innocent.
Hence when I was going to invite friends round for a cinema evening I watched the video first by myself, and thank God I did! It was a chick-lit type film, and then out of nowhere the hero was splattered by an articulated truck! It was such a shock that I shout cried. I would never have lived the shout cry down, as it came out of me so violently, and my friends would have sideeyed me at the films I must be watching.........
I was so relieved that I'd swerved causing a sensation amongst my dramatic, delicate friends! Phew!!!

You learn something new every day. I loved Noel Streatfeild books when I was young, and still pop on to a couple of them to read read now and again (White Boots and Curtain Up my favourites) but I had NO idea she wrote under a pseudonym! Off to check this out!

I used to love The Children on The Top Floor when I was a kid. Made even more nostalgic because it was my Nans book and I would read it during my week in the summer at her house. I'm always looking for it in charity shops.

Just finished colony by annika Norlen and I really enjoyed it. I would recommend if you like character studies but a reasonably fast pace.

Oh I think somebody shared there was a deal on kindle unlimited. I had an offer for 3 months for free. And Aladaide is included which I wanted to read!

Course it is. 2 weeks after I buy the paperback. Sigh.

also i’m reading the courting of bristol keats right now (speaking of long books) and it is simply Not Very Good. another thing about long books, if they’re not great you have to decide whether to continue the journey or not i’m going to do what the editor seemingly did and do a speed run.

Oh I have that one from the few months I got Fairyloot.

Guys quick question I was looking for an affordable Kobo to just have for library books but I have seen 2 second hand Kindle Fires at reasonable prices locally. I was not really wanting to spend over £20 to £30 just cos it's like my second device.

Does anyone know if either of these are compatible with Libby/Overdrive/ Borrowbox for UK library books?
