All I want is a front cover with no accolades or silly quotes.

A blurb on the back which tells me about the book.

Is it too much to ask? 😆
I detest when the cover has 'now a major blockbuster film' or 'now a major Netflix series' on the cover, in the style of a sticker but it's not actually a sticker and is part of the cover design itself....like whhhhyyyyyy. Just put an easily removable sticker on it, or a sign on the shelf near the book...

Oh now there’s a question…should books have trigger warnings ?
I feel like they should. Reading is an escape for people and I know at my lowest its been a saviour.

Its one page at the start of the book, if you dont need then skip the page.

I dont need an escalator, I can walk up stairs, others do need it. If I dont want to use it, I dont.

My TBR doesnt over whelm me. I dont mind it being in the 100s or perhaps creeping towards another digit 🙈 the way I see it, I surely at all times must have something I fancy reading.

My only regret really is the kindle grave yard. I dont really regret my physical books as they are like decoration for me. Im not someone who has a lot of ornaments or bits and bobs around the house but almost every room has books and I will continue to add to them 😆

My April reads. Surprised how many I read actually as I have felt like it was a slow month.

I exported my list of kindle books into a spreadsheet today. Added physical books, found about 10 duplicates so the physicals are in a pile to get rid of. I then went to Goodreads and looked up all the ones marked as read. I’m left with 895. Some of these kindle books will be utter tripe freebies but I’ll gradually whittle that down between reading. Then I went to collect 3 reserves from the library.

Well done! Have you spent the book tokens or are you saving them to use when you’re done?
I have used some, maybe £85 worth. On books I actually 'needed,' the next one in a series, or something relevant to my healing (became paraplegic in 2021 - I am fine, please no posts about it, and I say that kindly ❤)

My mum is a very generous gift giver - Lent, birthday, Christmas she goes over the top. Then because I don't have room for stuff all of my aunts and uncles given me book tokens (and I have lots of them!) Then I have three children who pretty much give me book tokens for every celebration. I have a lot of book tokens to use. Good job they expire after 8 years! I have a pretty significant amount of tokens to use. I am looking forward to going into an actual book shop, smelling those books and choosing one.

I went from being fully mobile to paraplegic in the space of 24 hours. For a while I was in a real woe is me phase, I couldn't read anything that was about disabilities/disabled people. That is my issue and I own it. I certainly wouldn't expect to be mollycoddled by a book seller. And where do you draw the line? I was dive bombed by a seagull for my chips on Bournemouth beach when I was 8, we are now well over 30 years later and I remember it clearly. Can we please get a seagull trigger warning? 🙄

I think people need to take personal responsibility and if you are triggered by xyz there are a lot of self help strategies that you can have in the background to help you through a tricky situation, paced breathing, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 5 minute feelings and so on.

Being triggered is horrible, but equally we are all unique with our own set of triggers. Just for Tattlers alone Waterstones have written 16 postcards for one book.

My special Night Court editions of ACOTAR arrived about an hour ago!

Much more my style than the bright colours of the originals.

Strange Pictures by Uketsu arrived in a different parcel because I only ordered it on Monday and Waterstones’ computers can’t figure out how to combine 2 different orders to the same address. Looks interesting.

She is beauty she is grace she is my spanking new Ealing Library card..

Also here's the haul.. Ealing Central not as good as expected. Apparently their library has been moved and downsized from 2 floors to one but still way better than my local one (see previous posts) it had books in there I'd never seen in any library and even books in there I'd never heard of before.. Like VIrginie Despentes whose apparently written fiction.

Also I now have access to 21.. yes thats TWENTY ONE other London boroughs libraries.. I can see me going on a tour.. Harrow is reasonably reachable and from what I have seen from walking past on the way to gigs Wembley looks pretty cool as well. There's even Hammersmith for when we have a match.

I lost track of who recommended Ealing to me but are you single?? :p

I thought I had cancelled my Audible membership but got an email saying they were increasing the cost to £8.99 per month. I went to cancel and have got 3 months half price again at £3.99 a month. 🥳 I can’t justify full price for Audible so I’m forever cancelling and signing up when they send me offers.
