My Nan was a big reader - she was very poorly for a long time and reading was the only thing that she could manage to do and it rubbed off on me that way. Both my kids are readers - the eldest at 10 has really got into in the last year and I quite often find him still reading at 9pm

I'm so mad... i had a book on hold at my library just before it closed. I went in on the last day and they said oh its waiting collection at branch library in a location i dont have a clue where it is.. I said no I asked for it to be collected here. Librarian says do you want me to arrange for it to be sent here for when we reopen in the new location. I say yes please. I go to new library just now and its dropped off the system..

The worst hing is there's so few decent books I want to read at my local library I cant remember what it was or even the author.. I've checked loads of things to try n prompt me. - my Amazon wishlist my borrow box readings lists, my good reads. my libby. etc etc.. my last ditch attempt would be this thread or all the YT videos iv'e watched.. i'd really rather not watch all those again LOL

They must have some record at the library system but the staff there get worse- in fact I think they are just council workers roped in now.. I said oh its ok don't bother.. I have joined another boroughs library and whatever it was it's sure to turn up there

I've waited ages for books I've requested and then checked in my online account, and more and more now it comes up that it doesn't exist.
At least I know which book I've been waiting for, though.
Maybe they're waiting to see if there's enough interest for it. Some have been books that have been raved about on this forum, though.

I have always loved reading, my parents aren't readers but my mum read me books when I was little and they never discouraged me from reading. My grandparents really encouraged my reading and my granny would always take me to the bookshop in her village and let me choose a book for the holidays. Inevitably I would need to go to the library too and get a pile of books for the week. I still love reading now and even though I'm in a bit of a slump just now I'm still reading at least a page or 2 every day. It's amazing that it can totally take your mind off any problems and transport you somewhere else. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't read.
