Gimme the good HP fanfics, I've probably read them, but so many great ones I've read over and over. 😆
all of mine involve draco because i love that angsty blonde dude and “what we pretend we can’t see” is an actual masterpiece of fiction and everyone should read it.

I'm currently reading Tangerine by Christine Mangan and I'm desperate for it to finish - it's dreary despite being a thriller but I've got like 50pg to go and can't handle DNF. I've had such a good year with books - 137 books read once I finish this latest one!

I felt like that too! I love books set in hot countries when it's all cold and grey here but that one dragged on and on! It wasn't a great thriller!

I'm so glad it's not only me that is struggling! I didn't know if it's because I've been stressed with work and summer holidays but it just DRAGS. I'm the same @AllieBee I love books set in hot countries especially in the 50's/60's (aka Talented Mr Ripley, which this book is blatantly trying to emulate) but this is just a snore fest.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a hp fic, I mostly gravitate towards Sherlock/supernatural/hannibal/criminal minds with the odd sprinkling of a/b/o teen wolf 😂😂

I’m also 50% through and slightly similar.. happily reading it but not desperate to pick it up and see what happens. Although I do have a gross cold so I assumed it was a me issue.
Oh nooo I literally have this arriving in the post today!

omg some of that teen wolf fic is GOD TIER. never watched an episode of the show in my life but 👌🏻

supernatural imo is one of those fandoms where the fanworks ended up being “better” than the source material. the fact that they literally invented a/b/o changed fic forever! 👏🏻👏🏻

I could wax lyrical about Teen wolf, it’s my not so guilty pleasure and I’m probably far too obsessed with sterek (it is canon, the creators just didn’t have the balls to go through with it 😂) but agreed, some of the fics I’ve read are sublime!

supernatural was the show that got me into fandom and fanfic, its fanon is basically its own entity now 😂 “twist and shout” will forever shatter my heart into a million pieces but I will continue to torture myself and reread it.

Love everything set in The Silence of the Lambs universe, Hannibal was brilliant ! I used to read so much Hannibal fanfictions, can't believe it was 10 years ago already 😬

Thank you for feeding my addiction 😘 It will actually be my first Harry/Draco (as the main ship), exciting !

Does anyone else have the same problem in that when you're going away you have no idea what book to take with you.

The is where Kindles come into their own! Take them all!
I think to be on the safe side I am going to take a Lyn Andrews book as I have read 3 of hers before and thoroughly enjoyed them.

Yes.. I think I posted about this problem a couple of times before settling on 5 books 😂 one I didn’t touch, one I read 100 pages of. Also took my Kindle. 🫣

I’ve chosen Sunset by Jessie Cave. I have a gift card to buy a new airport book too, so I’m hoping to buy Blue Sisters.

Then my kindle 😂

should have used mr cb’s suitcase for more books as we suggested 🤣😉😉

but, same. i can never properly judge what i’m in the mood for and i don’t own a kindle so once i start i realise that i’m steadily running out of suitcase room. i’ve started just taking magazines instead 🤦🏼‍♀️ (they’re easier after a few aperol spritzes 🤣)

One of the chunky ones did end up in his hand luggage 😂

Haha yep, I need a book for morning and a book that goes with frozen daiquiris.

I finished Powerless yesterday (Lauren Roberts), and I read Fourth Wing last month and ACOTAR/ACOMAF the other month - all the 3 male antagonists were described as having swirly tattoos 😅 I'm spotting a trend, here! Good job I enjoyed them all though...

Oh and in Powerless the protagonist has silver hair and is called names relating to her hair colour, is referred to as silver tongued at some point, and in Fourth Wing Violet has the silverish hair and her dragon calls her silver one, etc.

The protagonists all seem to be about 18.
I enjoyed these stories but it might be refreshing to read a book about a 30-Something female lead who rides dragons or wields powers because I am feeling old compared to these young heroines 😅🤔

Any recommendations?

Finally finished Tangerine and gave it a whopping 1.5 stars on Storygraph. What a slog!

Now reading "Living Dolls" which is about rise of glamour modelling and sexualisation. It's pretty good, and I was of the same sort of age as most of the women the author is talking to throughout the book. I don't read non-fiction very much!

I think I put more thought into which books to bring on holiday than I do to my clothes!

This year on holiday I read Piglet, Home Before Dark and Service. Top marks to Service, it is the best book I've read this year. Home Before Dark is a great ghost story, would be a brilliant read around October. Piglet was just plain odd and the ending really pissed me off.
