This happened to me last night! I only remembered at 11.52pm that I’d not read any of my kindle. If you ever do miss a day, you can put your kindle/phone in airplane mode, change the date to the missed day, read a few pages and then change back. I did that last night and it worked. Might take a few hours to update but when I checked this morning all was okay 😅
I tried all that this morning and it didn’t work 😭 genuinely was on the cusp of tears 😂 hopefully Amazon fix it

ETA - I go on holiday in a couple of weeks and not sure if I’ll get chance to read every day. If I keep my kindle in airplane mode or don’t connect to WiFi, will it automatically keep my reading streak?
BIB no.

If you read with it in airplane mode, it won't count at all, then when you reconnect it will give you the days you read.

I find the easiest way to maintain my streak when away is to open the app and flick forward and back a few pages every day.

They refused to fix it for me when I had that issue. I now make sure I open the app or something if I am travelling

A great month for me book wise. Everyone here is lying is the only one that was a slight let down, I love Shari Lapena but this wasn’t her best, enjoyable but not particularly memorable.

I LOVED the rest, really enjoyed Murder in the Family and the unique concept but the standouts have to be the two Elin Hilderbrand’s, my first ever books of hers and OMG I am now obsessed with Nantucket and plan to read the other million books she has written 😅
Oooo these Elin Hilderbrand books have been on my TBR list for ages along with 28 Summers. Glad to hear a great review for them!

I really enjoyed them, trust me they will make you desperate to “summer in Nantucket” 😂 I think I enjoyed the hotel one slightly more but both are brilliant. I think I’ve realised I’m not a romance girl but I am a lit-fic/chick-lit girl!

Good month for me this month, 13 books read, my favourites and 5/4.5 stars were:

The Night We Met - Zoe Folbigg
Another Mother - Susan Spindler
(Both these made me cry!)
The Marriage Portrait - Maggie O'Farrell
The Rose Code - Kate Quinn

Least favourite was The Curious Heart of Ailsa Rae and One More Lie.

All the others enjoyable and in between

Silence in Between has inspired me to read a non-fic on East Germany/the wall so have moved Beyond the Wall up my list.

For me ILUx3 was one of those books I connected with straight away, the main character is pretty much the same age as me and it brought back all the nostalgia.

I know I’m constantly saying I’m moving things up my TBR but I’m really going to have to move Nantucket up my list!
I do this - deviating off to research the theme of a book. I've lost count of what I've read on Kick Kennedy and being told by a guide of a stately home about her marriage to the son of the house etc etc.
My latest thing is the need to go to Italy to look at some portraits due to reading a book about an Italian duchess. 😁
This has also worked the other way round after visiting another stately home in August and suffering all four seasons weather conditions in one day - freaky! and the gut feeling that more than one portrait was trying to say something.
As I always "have to know why," a passing guide coughed up loads of gossip. On returning home from the trip I researched and read up on the family and the sad lady in one of the portraits, who turned out to be an American "buccaneer" with a sad life story, which if I'm right Julian Fellowes used for the back story of Cora and Robert Crawley in Downton Abbey.

I loved it!

Met the author at an event last week and she was fab. She gave an overview of her next book and it sounds so up my street I can't wait to read it.
Ooh what did she say? I loved Talking at Night 🥰

If I remember correctly, as yet untitled, woman getting married her childhood sweetheart turns up day before wedding? Week before? Something like that. Makes her relive stuff. Dual timelines I think?

Sounded ace but I was very excited and probably not paying too much attention.

Was so interesting hearing how the book came to be abd where she got the idea for talking at night etc.

I have finished exactly 0 books this month! Oops! Started a few, but finished none. 😅

Hoping for a more 'productive' reading month in August.

I have 160 pages left of Powerless (Elsie Silver) and I am bored 😭 I have been reading this book since 13th July 😂 and honestly I just am so over it. Definitely the worst one so far in the series
Bring back Cade 🤠❤

I’ve read two books this month, both by john marrs - the passengers and the family experiment, really enjoyed them both! I’m halfway through listening to clickbait by lc north and about 20% through close to home by michael magee on my kindle but haven’t read that in weeks. the slump is still slumping 🫠

What did you think of the series by Daniel Hurst? I read a few but had to stop because they were beyond repetitive.
I’m with you. I read the first 3 recently. Loved the first one, enjoyed the second then got a bit fed up by the end of the 3rd one. I have the last one downloaded on my Kindle but haven’t felt the inkling to read it yet. I see it’s the highest rated of the series on Goodreads though so I may give it a go soon.

Any recommendations for a tear-jerking book? No need to be actual good but it needs to leave me in tears (thanks in advance ❤)
