Nearly read all of The Paper Palace in 24 hours. I’ve struggled with my reading the last few months, I’ve been really all or nothing. Once I start reading something that doesn’t grab me I’ll get in a slump for a week or 2.

i liked the paper palace so much! i still feel slightly mad about the ending, even a year later, so please let me know what you think

also finally booked my cinema tickets for a little life today and thought of you! can’t wait to be emotionally devastated by james norton

Rarely do I enjoy a film adaptation as much as the book.

But Red, White & Royal Blue was as good, maybe even better than the book.

Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine had chemistry that was off the scale good. Right from the very beginning. They didn't miss a beat.

The intimate moments, whether captured in a rush full of desperation and lust or slow and meaningful and full of love were beautiful and perfect.

Taylor's bare arse was divine.

The humour, the jokes, perfectly intertwined, can't lie I do love a mouthful joke when referring to dick in mouth instead of long winded names.

I just smiled all the way through, even through the sad bits because the love was so clear.

I'm now sad that I've finished watching it.

Also respect to Casey McQuiston for not only getting herself a cameo at the end, but getting another of her books a cameo in the middle.

ETA: Nicholas acting and expressing so much just with his facial expressions, body language on the pontoon thing on the water when Henry was telling Alex how he felt and what he wanted was incredibly powerful. As Alex opened up, you could watch the fear build in Henry as he shut down and folded up into himself more and more. Beautifully acted.

Don’t beat yourself up! Never met anyone who read War and Peace who didn’t do the same, including me! In fact someone once told me the only way to get through it is to “read the Peace and skim the War.”

I think this is the same one I have but not sure. My kindle is quite old, paperwhite but I got it about 5 years ago. I find it not too bad but I dont use it for browing books or anything. I send them all electronically from my phone or ipad and only use it for reading the books. Is it when youre 'turning' the page its slow?

Yeah it reminds me of dial up internet days or remember the “laptops” you could get as a kid in the 90s

I am jealous when I see that you are reading 1-2 books per month.
I usually have 3 books at the same time - one on phone for killing time in public transport (15min daily), one in Sommer House for weekend relax with morning coffee (around 30min per day) one at home for when I have time.... All 3 complete different and on different language, so the challenge is real....

At the end... sometimes it takes 3 months to finish 1 single book.


Slow reader here... But still with lots of love for books and dream to finish at least one book per month

Im exactly the same with the exception of Richard Osman and Graham Norton! I think because I can totally imagine both of them actually sitting down and writing they feel authentic, others - Anton du Beke being a great example - feel like an attempt to make a quick buck based on their names.

Well I’ve been totally influenced today and bought every bloody 0.99p kindle book you’ve all mentioned that I didn’t already of have.

I have been trying to work my way through her backlist which I feel like I am not allowed to say to anyone haha but her books are quick and easy to read so it’s good when you don’t want to think too much.

I am currently halfway through Confess by her. It's a quick read but nothing has happened, loads of plot points have been started but not picked up again. I haven't read much by her but when I do I find they are quick reads that are enjoyable but don't stick with you.

I'm of the opinion it shouldn't matter what you enjoy reading whether it's literary fiction, classics, what some would term chick lit or even YA or children's literature. If you enjoy it that's all that matters. I tend to find that those that turn their nose up the most tend to read for the 'prestige' of saying I've read xyz.

I love hearing about books someone loved even it's not something I would personally pick up. It would be incredibly boring if all liked the same books and agreed on everything. I enjoy a respectful dialogue on why someone loves or hates an author or a book.

I think the librarian went into shock yesterday when I returned my books but didn't pick up any. They tried to push some books towards me like I was a starving urchin.
I've just one book left to read "The List" which seems to have had mixed reviews.

Although noticed Common Decency by Susannah Dickey is 99p. Its on my wishlist. Sad girl fiction for those who like it.

It’s only the few deals on my wish list that I saw. Amazon need to get their life in order. This shit will not stand. They’ve ruined the first of September.

I’ve recently discovered cozy mysteries and read 3 wee books last weekend. They are so light and lovely when the world can feel a bit heavy. They are not by any means literary works of art but when you just need to escape, they are very cute

I have discovered audiobooks recently , I work in a back office so I can listen as I type. I'm getting through some of the classics I've always wanted to read but wouldn't necessarily prioritise buying in paper format. Like Dickens, etc. I want to know the stories but don't want to have the books in my house cluttering up. Audible does seem to have a lot of classics included in the membership.

And physical copy wise, I'm finishing off the Strike detective series and will probably move onto PD James and Anthony Horowitz next. I have refound reading after several years of barely reading a book. I'm trying to do less scrolling of social media and more reading. And the audiobooks help me get through the work day.

WAYLAY! i kept assuming it was short for something but they never confirmed it. her mum does a runner at the start of the book though so also assume naming her daughter waylay was a metaphor of some kind

the dog is named waylon btw. i confused child and dog MULTIPLE times.

And a few more which surprised me!

I tend to stick to 350ish pages. But have read a fair few over 700 pages.

I totally get this. But mine are 0.99 kindle books. I’ve more kindle books than I could ever read in my lifetime.

I am on my Harry Potter re-read. Only read two books this month: Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince.
I don't know what others think, but OOTP is the weak link of the series. It's miles too long. Feck all happens most of the book. I never really liked how the Harry-Cho story was handled.

Half Blood Prince, on the other hand is an absolute banger!
