Totally agreed. I can't believe she can't see that its also:
a) a little disrespectful to her friends with small businesses
b) suspicious given shes never really shown much desire to make/sell things like this before now / hasn't just addressed the fact that its a blatant cash grab given that shes lost her job and hubby likely isn't bringing in much at the moment (assumed)
c) contradictory to be using polymer clay as someone who loves to virtue signal sustainability towards other brands.

I don't agree with you both on this point.
I wasn't a fat kid either at all. Most fat adults I know weren't fat kids. And almost everybody can lose weight, especially easy when you're young!
If you get fat again (and gaining more eventually because she's obese, not just overweight), you're doing the yo yo and something is out of control (due to genetics, mind, behaviour, hormones, health reasons or whatever the reason or mix of reasons).
She doesn't need to be obese to be relevant in the BOPO world. I'm sure she would love us to think that she's in control but I just don't buy it.

It’s very disturbing that she’s posting all these cheerful insta stories at the moment when she must have heard about this. They were pretty good friends and tweeted each other all the time, and were flatmates for ages. Of course you can’t know what she’s feeling about the situation but why not just post nothing?

Oooh! I used to follow BR on Twitter when I still went over there and was actually due to go to DOMO a few times but never happened for one reason or another. Who was the chubby-chaser guy? I remember she had some super obnoxious-seeming Scandi bf for a time and was always making a huge deal of how this really hot guy fancied her. Wasn't he a fair bit older as well? Is Melly still friends with Bethany? I recall them being quite outspoken about wealthy people who clearly get ahead because of their money but never really disclose that? (If I remember correctly, I might be mixing them up with someone else) And that is definitely Bethany to a T!

I don't pay much attention to Bethany's posts (only so much earring content I can take!) so I'm not sure if they're still friends but they do still follow each other on instagram.

I lurk a little bit on the plus size threads but I quite like them all so dont tend to comment - it's only Poppy ive got an issue with really. I followed Bethany as we used to look quite similar so it was quite handy to see what types of clothes she had etc but she's changed quite a bit so not so much anymore.

I dont think I ever followed her in her hairy (lol!) days though - I found her when she was quite put together working at navabi and really liked her. I'm going to google now as im intrigued!

100% this. Bethany is incredibly privileged. Can you imagine her working in a care home while grafting to get her debut book noticed?

Merely 'being privileged' is not a reason for someone's achievements to be downplayed. She comes from a middle class background, yes, but she still has worked for what she has. She isn't like a member of the Royal Family or the aristocracy who is going to inherit vast wealth and acres of land. She is middle class, not super rich. I don't understand the resentment at her, or are only people that came from very rough backgrounds allowed any praise for their achievements?
