How on earth can Bethany still claim to be a size 20+. The constant mentioning of her dress size is wearing thin. Pardon the pun. Methinks she doth protest too much
Did she talk so much about her dress size until recently? I don’t recall sizewatch until her appearance began to change. I think the only reason people are debating it is because she’s making it a thing and in the process I sense upsetting quite a few people who relate to each size mentioned and doubting themselves or feeling like they have to justify numbers.

And for me her bopo/fat positive creds are dented by not noting her weight change at all and then this fatfishing that leaves other people feeling upset about body chat. That’s dark influencing and she’s so glib about it.

That said I met her to speak with once in her Arched Eyebrow days around the start of my eating disorder recovery and it absolutely wrecked my head that she looked like she mainly fitted regular sizes and the lower plus sizes of specific brands and kept talking about how fat she was. I had worked as a personal shopper and she looked fashion plus sized which is a UK 14-16 while midsized is an 8-12.

Fashion sizing is as related to day to day sizing as comparing your car to Formula 1 and using the fashion definition and the ‘lay person’ definition to suit your brand is a common trick in all parts of the industry. See also switching between UK and US sizes so you can be two sizes at once.

And wasn’t bopo and fat positivity set up to counter that sneaky shit that made women in particular stress about body image? It does wear thin when she doesn’t even seem to do branded or sponcon posts and changing her body impacts her income which is a dilemma many got themselves into…

Please tell me she doesn’t actually write like that in her books???
I don't have it to hand so cant quote anything but the MC makes friends with a "cool fat girl" character who is constantly saying "my dude" and "boning" and all that

ooh what’s the tea here? Plagiarism? Which blogger? 👀
It's discussed in this thread from page 35 onwards..... don't get excited, it's not a blogger anyone's ever heard of :ROFLMAO: someone wrote a blog yonks ago about going in "52 dates on52 weeks", saw the tagline of BR's book and assumed it was ripped off. http://www.52firstdates.com/2022/01/and-just-like-thati-stood-up-for-myself.html

Good to see her podcast back again, they do recommend good books on there but I am literally rolling my eyes every time Alice refers to her greedy little gremlin hands grabbing for proofs or whatever. She just likes reading, she’s just like everyone else! And Bethany admitting that if a book gets a lot of hype she will just skip it is so condescending. Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face, she might miss something really great but because she hasn’t discovered it and started the hype herself, she won’t bother? These two think a lot of themselves and I would say outside of their little london literary circle, nobody knows who they are or cares about what they have to say. They’re like Pandora and Dolly, but the gremlin edition (they self identify as gremlins or goblins or whatever, I am not casting judgement on their looks)
This is ironic coming from Bethany, who writes the most commercial hyped-up fiction I've ever seen.

Does anyone listen to her podcast? I listened to one episode the other day and quite liked how they weren't positive about every single book. Couldn't tell the difference between Bethany and Alice though, bit like when I first started The High Low.
I really like the podcast, the themes are always good and I have read some great books on their recommendations. I find BR's voice and uptalk a bit grating sometimes (plus her go-to review if a book she likes is "it banged" which I find annoying but I'm not a millennial so maybe I'm just old and out of touch!) but I think it's generally a good listen and the books are carefully chosen.

I can’t believe she’s charging that much for those earrings. I follow a few ladies who make clay jewellery and their items are so creative and well made and most are cheaper.
I think it’s mind boggling there’s people out there willing to pay it! She’s not even established as a jewellery maker— nothing that merits those price points yet. It’s crazy.

Just seen on Twitter that her debut adult novel will be published next year. Thank god the earrings don't have to be her main source of income 🤣

I don't believe it for one second, as I don't believe she's really happy with her body. She's so bitter.
She would find something else anyway if she wasn't fat to be relevant
I agree Romy. A few years ago before she became an “author” out of the blue, she lost a lot of weight. Who knows if it was intentional or what but her fat influencer friends were all alluding to private tweets they were making that she was gatekeeping the fat community originally and then she had gone and lost all this weight but was still acting like a queen bee. I think she would be skinny in a second if she could, I don’t buy her body positivity stuff at all.

Also she just skims over the person that actually published a book talking about their 52 dates in 52 weeks…? Like what happened there?? Why weren’t you doing blog posts then sweetie!

It’s all a bit weird, esp featuring the “evidence” of a friendship which is just one way tweets from the blogger to BR.
