Below Deck was so much better when they had actual yachties in the job; now, at least 25% of the cast each series has minimal/no experience and is just brought in because they think “they’d make good TV”. Like that horrendous french woman on one of the other series whose sole task seemed to be to kiss/sleep with as many people as usual.
it was one of the best reality TV shows, because it used to be one of the few that still WAS reality TV. It’s just far too fake and staged now.

I think Mike told the guests on purpose because he wanted more airtime . I think that’s his main goal really as clearly yacht work is not for him !!
it’s stupid really that people who don’t care about yachting use BD as a way to try and get famous . To be a “star” in the BD space and break through , you really need to be a repeat cast member who keeps coming back . If you’re shit at your job and get fired , you’re unlikely to be invited back . People like Mike who are just in it for the fame will generally just be one season wonders . In a years time we’ll be saying “remember that weird Geordie deck/stew who had all that botched filler? What was his name again?”

I love Betul. What an absolute superstar she is.
Eddie is rank, he’s definitely the incel type, jenna is embarrassing and just likes attention, and doesn’t actually like either of her ‘options’, daisy and Joao need to stop pissing about and get it on (GET ON WITH IT DAISY, do it for me
), Elle is, as ever, a fucking headcase and Ben is still the same sleazy bastard but without his happy go lucky moments of charm which redeemed him before. I actually sort of hate most of this crew

Nathan is a weak leader, terrified of confrontation, either backing down or lashing out. No wonder no one seems to respect him.
And let's not forget him, as an immigrant in Australia, posting an anti-immigrant rant shortly after the Bondi shootings. He was everywhere in the media hero flexing, telling the tale of letting people on to his nearby boat during the attack. I wonder if he asked to see their visas before they were invited to clamber aboard.
Also couldn't be less interested in the baby and dim, attention-seeking Gael, always hovering ready to be included in the show, either on phone calls or on screen.

The Gael/Nathan/Baby storyline is so dull. No-one cares and I doubt it would be allowed in real life. How many women take their newborn baby into Daddy’s work every day? Just get on with it at home, Gael, and stop fishing for more airtime for your “perfect” family 🥱

I also think Gael shouldn't be there, she should have stayed where she had family and friends to support her. Chartering is a full-on business and she knows how little downtime they get.
Being a mum to a newborn is shit hard, being a mum to a sick newborn in a foreign country is even worse, BD wouldn't have allowed this set up if she wasn't ex cast and it's just looking for more drama fodder.

I do like Ben but I’m team Daisy all the way in this argument
at the end of the day , her job is to ensure that the guests are have the five star + experience that they’ve paid for and that the crew are going above and beyond for them . It’s not overstepping for her to be abreast of their preference sheets and question things with the chef - ie, they’d asked specifically for a vanilla cake and Ben had just gone ahead and made chocolate . If I was in her shoes , I’d question it too
I feel like Ben has forgotten what chef work on a charter yacht is all about …. Getting that tip !! Yes of course chefs need creative freedom but if baking some cookies is the difference between a good tip and a shit tip then obviously bake those cookies !!
To be fair to him he does amend and adapt to their preferences when asked but he’s not very proactive about it . Go and have a chat with the guests about their menu , bake those extra sweet treats they’ve mentioned they like on their preference ! He’s just making his job harder by not speaking to them and then having to adapt to last minute requests . If he’d spoken to them about dinner when they first arrived , he’d have known they wanted pasta earlier and it wouldn’t have been such a rush ! At the end of the day he’s employed to serve the guests and their preferences , not just whip up whatever he fancies

Imagine how Ben would have reacted had he cleaned and prepped his kitchen and other crew and gone in, started making food with the provisos and not cleaned up - he'd have lost it.
He's also being unprofessional by empowering Ellie to be a disrespectful cunt to a HoD.
I've always had a bit of a soft spot for him, but he has fucked it.
How does Joao's rank as Second Officer compare to Ben's as chef?

Alesia's behaviour is odd. Did anyone else catch where she took Jenna's necklace from her room to give to Eddy to wear for the drag night? Jenna seemed surprised and mildly affronted, and I don't blame her. I'm sure she'd have been more than willing to lend it to Eddy if he had asked her.

My take on this ep:
- Mike's banter was funny to me, but he could see Jenna didn't get his humour and took offence, then saying that to Daisy was not on.
- Ellie is actually unhinged!!
- Daisy isn't my favourite Chief Stew, but I love that she takes no shit. Don't mess with an Irish lass!!
- Ben needs to grow up, getting with women half his age is not the answer
- When I saw João was on it this season I was dreading it, but compared to how he was in his first season he has grown soo much. He seems really sweet about Daisy and definitely has a soft spot. He messed with Ellie, but I don't think it was intentional. He's actually really funny too!
