My nails are so much better without regular gels. I had been giving my nails a rest from gel for about a month before lockdown started and now they are longer and stronger than they have been in years! Made me realise how much damage gels must do my nails. My daughter has cut my fringe and my bob is touching my shoulders- I stopped colouring my hair years ago and am so glad as my hair is naturally silver now :) I can’t wait to get a proper cut though! I’ve used an epilator on my legs for years and my hair growth is pretty minimal now luckily.

I had professional laser treatments done (3 sessions) and was so shocked and happy with the amazing results, but it was so expensive and I had to travel to Manchester every few weeks so after a lot of research I bought this one. I got it from Boots last year when they had an offer on and it gave me loads of boots advantage points. I was a bit anxious parting with so much money but I’ve not regretted it. I used to shave 3 times a week and more if I had a night out or it was summer as I’m so hairy and have dark coloured thick hair (I would even shave my face once a fornight). But now I can go 10+ days without shaving but I’ve not even finished my course. You’re meant to do it every 2 weeks, 6 times and then only once every few months to maintain it but I’m not the best at sticking to schedules 🙈. Since lockdown I’ve stuck to it and I’m so happy. My underarms hair has practically gone, I’ve not shaved them for weeks. It’s just the bikini area and arms that are still growing (I put a lower setting on the bikini area so it’s why that takes longer for the hair to stop growing). You can go halves with a friend and share the machine to share the cost. My sister has borrowed mine a few times but I wouldn’t share it with more than one person as the laser eventually wear out or becomes less effective after so many uses. Sorry for the long post but hope it’s helpful. Let me know if you want to know anything else about it or laser hair removal in general.
That’s really helpful. God I hate shaving my legs and even having to do them weekly drives me mad! Maybe I’ll invest in one x

I used to get my eyebrows waxed every 3 weeks at £15 and get shellac nails done every 3/4 weeks at £25! Occasionally got my eyelashes lifted and tinted and that was another £30.

Since being in lockdown I've been doing my own eyebrows (not difficult just time consuming... I have high maintenance brows that grow out really quickly!) and have invested in my own gel nail lamp kit off ebay for £50 altogether.. I will never again pay to have my nails done professionally when its so much easier and cheaper to do at home!

I am however missing my lash lifts and tints. Has anyone tried one of those home kits off ebay/amazon? I'm a bit skeptical of attempting to do it myself with these chemicals... knowing me I'd probably accidentally get it in my eye and blind myself! Some things might be better off left to the professionals.

I also cannot wait to have my hair cut!

I tint my own eyelashes, using rectofil. I am the clumiest oaf going so I smear loads of vaseline around my eye so if (when) I get tint on my skin it just wipes away. I apply it using a small angled brush and then go through with a spoolie.

Not tried the lift kits, as I think that is too chemically for me to do. I keep seeing an ad on fb for a lash lift and the models eyes look really swollen 😬

I bought a Cuccio nail powder starter kit, as the local nail salon closed. they are not as perfect as the salon , but in the three times I have done them I have got better. I have already saved over £30 on what I would have spent at the salon. Just got to work out on doing a set with tips !

Morning all, I finally had delivered the facial epilators, you lot are stars!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I have used it twice now and its really great, doing my tash was a bit eye watering.

My chin will need a few sessions but better already.
Yay! I knew you’d prefer an epilator to shaving. It is amazing in terms of how long it lasts!

I’ve finally taken the plunge and ordered some acetone and a cuticle pusher so that I can remove my shellac toenail polish. It’s really irritating me now looking at the cuticle regrowth gap on my big toes! 😂

Gel nails - I only started having these at the start of 2019, ruined my nails. Have had clean nail since about September last year, just about to go back to normal polish.

I've also been doing my own gel nails in lockdown and amazed at how easy it is! I will never pay to have my nails done ever again!
One thing I will say is it is so difficult to get off when its time to redo them. What have you been using? I've bought some acetone, and soak them but find it still takes sooo long. Any tips!?
Half a cotton pad soaked in acetone. Wrap that over the nail, wrap that in kitchen foil. And wait about 40 mins and it should just wipe off. I think heat works as well so a hit water bottle in a towel over your nails should help. Plus a perfect excuse to sit and watch the tv as your hands are out of action!

ETA how do you manage to paint your nails using your non-dominant hand? My left one looks acceptable
My right hand looks like a 2 year old has done it.

I use rectofil tint, blue black. You need oxidant as well. Mix it all together until it is a paste. Vaseline around the eye area so the tint doesnt stain if you blob it on your skin. (I manage to every single time) Then with a small angled brush I just brush it onto my lashes, and then comb through with a spoolie. Ta da!!

I did a patch test with both just to make sure.

I'm not sure about the lash curl and lift treatments. They seem a bit tricky to so yourself. I keep seeing one advert on facebook (unsure which brand) and the models eyes look really swollen. 😬
I'm going to give this a try thanks so much for the recommendation. And yes I completely agree re the eyelash lift thing, gonna go with my instincts and ignore that advert and stick to my trusted eyelash curlers 👍

Hey!
Just wondered what epilator you went with for your facial hair? I've been looking but there are so many and all mixed reviews! 🤦🏽‍♀️ TIA x
Hi. I got the Braun Face 810.
I used it on my chin for about the first four days to catch all the hairs ( I was shaving every day), then not for another four days and now just use it when I need it.
To say its life changing is not an exaggeration, My skin on chin is not sore.
It does not hurt on chin, a bit of a pull when doing tash.

I haven't really touched my eyebrows but they look ok.
Veeting my mustache, lol.
And had my husband trim my hair, he did a good job.

I am looking forward to going back to a hairdresser to get my highlights done and getting a massage if I’m honest.
I tint my own eyelashes and do my own pedicure and anything else myself.
I could easily spent a fortune but also resent paying money on some beauty treatments 🤣

Gawd I'm so low maintenance when I read this thread 😁 I've never even heard of half of the things mentioned.
Just all wait until it all falls out below and starts growing on your chin. I do however have very nice nails, and I've never had a manicure in my life.
Oh and a xten magnifying mirror is my best friend👓

I've been buying false nails and plucking my own eyebrows. I usually get acrylic nails and have my eyebrows threaded but my eyebrows have grown quite nice, so I'm quite pleased. Can't wait to actually get my nails done in a salon though.

I never colour my hair myself as I have very sensitive skin, so I will be getting that done soon.

A local hairdresser who does home visits has advertised for new clients for when the time comes. However, when you contact him he said he has already started working. He charges £80 just for a cut! He seems to be highly recommended in the local Forum where I saw his post.

When you say Laser Hair Removal yourself do you use a IPL type device and what would you recommend ? Ive been tempted to save for an ipl machine but then it seems you still have to shave as often so it sort of defeats purpose for me?

How does home eyelash tinting work? I’ve got a kit for brows (not used it yet) which also works for lashes but I was a bit worried about trying lashes.
