Yes - still Kirsty Lang with her hints.

They’ve reduced the number of teams - no north and south or Midlands just an England team now. So it’s just the countries of Britain rather than regions.

Yeah, obvs could be due to the edit but she seems to jump in way too soon and definitely has her favourites!

The BBC announced they were cutting one in ten staff yesterday so there'll be a lot of restructuring.
I wouldn't be surprised if they're doing a full restructure of the radio stations starting with R2 off of the back of both this and Scott going. They could reduce the number of shows and therefore presenters possibly?

If the bbc are cutting 1 in 10 staff they can start with Richie Anderson. But I reckon if oj gets breakfast he get oj overnight slot as he already does one of his nights.

He was doing Escape to the Country the other day !!
Surely he’s not ready for a proper slot?! Though I’d take him in that one so as never to cross paths. Saw the daily mail bread crumbing Sara Cox for breakfast…I’d be gutted to lose her in the afternoons 🫤

I like a bit of Gary Davies, but not every weekday.
He has a squeezy voice, like a tight throat or something 🙈

Did you all see the news that Andy Kershaw passed away yesterday. He was only 66.
I used to love listening to his show when I was in my late teens / early twenties. He would get so excited about the music, and played a great mix of genres.

Does anyone else get irrationally angry when they playlist songs with words blanked out. Latest is the Mel C song that’s on radio 2 every hour or so. I think they should just record a version with a radio friendly substitute word instead of a blank space.

Normally there is a radio edit, often they don’t disclose this and when you hear the real one you get a bit of a jolt

Tony Blackburn said his Uncle left him 485 Clocks in his Will...... ......he's still winding up his Estate 6 months later 😬

A worked with a colleague who would tell me so many Tony Blackburn jokes they’d start off as a believable story and then the punchline would come 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

He’s on the new series of Celebrity Apprentice soon! He gets where water can’t. I’m sure he’s a nice guy but I wish he would stop trying so hard to launch a media career.

I was listening to Fi and Jane’s Off Air podcast earlier. They mentioned Andy Kershaw and his, let’s say - issues. They discussed whether it was ok to talk about the problems he caused now he’s dead. The BBC obituary includes it - his ex had taken out a restraining order against him and he served a prison sentence for repeatedly breaching this order. This was in 2007/8. He did return to work for the Beeb in 2011 and championed world music.

Was this a bit of double standards for the bbc? Taking back someone who repeatedly harassed their ex partner to the extent that they were jailed for it? I know the bloke is dead now but it seems a bit meh.

I don’t mind Gary on breakfast but the lack of games makes it so dry. I know they don’t want to use any of Scott’s games but can’t they come up with something?? Seems like this is going to go on a while. I miss the qi elves and the weekly pub quiz from Zoe’s show. Why don’t they bring one of them back in the interim..
Really hope Sara stays on drive time. I don’t think she likes doing mornings.
I think they are tee’ing up Greg James but they need to figure out who takes Radio 1 breakfast.

Did anyone find Vernon’s “foot” segment of the show this morning really uncomfortable and weird, or just me? It seemed to drag on for ages…

I didn't hear it but I often find Vern a bit "odd". He can get really hyper and giggly about something that just doesn't seem very funny to me but he'll seem completely caught up in it. I've possibly said here before, but it can come over like he's forgotten to take his meds or something... I'm not saying he's on medication but that's the only way I can describe it.

It's also very possible that I'm just a miserable twit.

agreed. they’ll struggle as they have NO candidates - dean usually covers for him but i feel they’ll push sam and danni.

i’ve been sticking with radio 1 due to my like for greg but i think jerry (who is currently on going home) is going to be the thing that finally ends our relationship 🤣 i physically cannot believe he’s got that job. he doesn’t know who anyone is and cannot keep up with any conversation (and not in a vaguely endearing way like jamie laing does).

i crashed my car in december and was just as angry that it happened while he was on the radio as i was about the crash itself.
