1. The sun has evidence to substantiate the claims
2. The BBC were given evidence that was serious enough to suspend HE
3. The victim's lawyers are high powered and multinational

Most fitting conclusion is that the victim WAS 17 when it happened, but he doesn't see himself as a victim and wanted the money.

Clearly (as per the Sun's evidence) if the victim was blackmailing HE for cash, he's money motivated, not "justice" motivated so he'd definitely take a payout in exchange for keeping his mouth shut.

Also, if the victim's income stream is OF/sex work, being discreet will keep clients.

His mum is likely justice motivated (reported that she didn't take any money for the story) so maybe she's at her wits end and wanted to see HE suffer consequences. Didn't involve the police because her son was involved in blackmailing him which is illegal. Just wanted to get him fired.

I wonder if HE split up from his wife a while ago. Before it was deleted I saw no photos of him with his wife. Lots of him posing, looking moody, showing off his body because of working out, his mum, his dog. None of his wife or kids. Could he be out as gay or bisexual to his family and friends etc? And he may have been single for a while?

Because it wouldn't change people's opinions at all?

I don't think the BBC can take him back now anyway if he's innocent, it's too controversial. But another broadcaster could if they can handle the heat- and if he's never officially named then it doesn't reflect as much on him
I agree even if it comes out no pics before lad was 18 and no other illegal behavior, Mud sticks & to me newsreaders have to be 'trustworthy'

What I’m still trying to get my head around was, why the mum didn’t go the police instead of the paper .

Sun said two concerned parents, thought it was just the mother.

it’s so confusing my head hurts
Maybe she was scared for her child seeing as they allegedly were using drugs, she may have thought her kid would be in trouble? She may have thought if she went to the source of the money to get it to stop her kid wouldn't have the funds for their habit ?

He has …based on defamatory claims
So IT is him then. I don’t even know what the story is anymore, and I had hoped it wouldn’t be him but to come on social media to like that posts does imply HE is the presenter. He could’ve easily made a tweet stating it’s not me etc or this has happened etc instead he likes those posts.

A) It hasn't been reliably confirmed if the child is a son or a daughter. Various news outlets have used both genders.

B) Just because the parent hasn’t gained anything doesn’t mean that their expectation initially wasn’t financial gain. Or it could just be that the parent has a fractured relationship with the child and wanted to project the cause of that onto someone else.

The fact is we KNOW almost nothing.
I think the BBC Culture Editor stating on Friday evening (live on air) that the victim is male is a pretty reliable source.

Oh my lord these threads are moving SO fast!
Can’t wait to see Huw is presenting Nudes At Ten.
The viewing figures will be going through the roof 😂 with everyone wanting to check.

I’ve seen comments regarding Sam Fox at 16 and other topless models in the sun aged under 18, not right at all, but at the time it was allowed.

The minimum age was raised to 18 after the passing of the Sexual Offences Act. in 2003

Is everyone still thinking it’s HE or with some articles on google naming GN that’s it’s him instead? Too many plot twists today!!!

Mum's never smelled weed before and instantly assumed the pungent aroma must be crack.
The son is just a completely average 20 year old making a killing flashing his nob to middle aged men on OnlyFarts.
Mate, my Mum is considerably older than this person's Mum but I keep going back to sitting outside a cafe being engulfed in weed smoke from the person next to us and my Mum going "It smells like a cat's had a wee here, I want to go inside".

In a way, I feel for this woman - the world is moving on at such a pace, and I'm not going to fault anyone for being scared for their kid (especially if they're doing something that would have got you kicked out and disowned at the same age), but I'm not sure good decisions have been made here. Having said that, The Sun are massively, massively at fault for running with this without solid evidence.
