The sun is the most deplorable paper; the mother going to them doesn’t give me “poor mother” vibes. It gives me “make a quick fortune from a paper that won’t fact check anything as long as they sell papers”

I'm just waiting for the mental health card to be played by someone in this story.

It doesn’t sound like the BBC are going to unsuspend the person just because of this letter, so if HE doesn’t show up for the 10 o’clock news…

My thoughts were similar
Young person gets into online thing with presenter
Young person decides to bribe presenter
£35k and 3 years later Young persons mother steps in and alerts the rum about the money
Young person realises if this all comes out they will be in trouble for bribery and tries to quell the rumours
You get a heart just for your user name...

The youngsters denial clears nothing up and just creates more questions. Why wait several days to announce it's untrue? Why not straight away? Why would your mother make it all up? Why would the Sun publish an article without evidence? Why are the police involved? Why was the presenter suspended by the BBC if there was no strong evidence?
According to The Sun, the celeb only contacted the son yesterday to defuse the situation. Perhaps the son was completely oblivious to the Mother's complaint until then? I don't imagine current affairs are a high priority for a 20 year old crack addict.

I know The Sun are scummy but surely they wouldn’t push this story against a heavyweight household name if they didn’t have evidence
I think going to press without acknowledging the rebuttal email from the young person was a bit iffy.

This story has never really added up has it? Each update confuses matters a little bit more
Feels like a JJ Abrams drama 😅

If the Sun has evidence then it needs to stick its money where its mouth is and release it.
I can’t stand The Sun, since I’m from Liverpool so I really hope that they’ve done their usual gutter press story and that they get sued big time for this. Hoping that the young person is ok too and that they’re telling the truth.

Also can I tell you something if you were to ask most Welsh people, Derek Brockway would trump Huw Edwards in the national hero stakes. Bet no one outside of gods country has heard of him though 😂
S’mae! I often channel cheat on Derek with ITV Wales Weather’s lovely Ruth too ❤

You know what? I’m quite happy finishing the day under the impression that Huw is not a pon.
Me too.
However it all ends there will be forever question marks over certain people's heads. Too much has gone on for too long.

BIB - because the rum is an absolute tit rag that would publish anything to sell a few copies/get a few clicks on their website.

The police are/were involved and the BBC suspended the presenter because it’s better for both to err on the side of caution, the police have to at least look into something reported to them and it’s better for the BBC to suspend than risk it being true.

If it’s HE and he’s been on onlyfans while he’s married looking at a much younger man, that’s obviously not good (I suspect also not that unusual tbh) but is it really that much different than a person looking at porn mags back in the day or subbing to the various sites out there?

Money is exchanged in all cases and nobody looking at a dirty mag or a porn vid knows whether the people involved are feeding drug habits off it? If they start binning all their presenters for watching porn, I’d be willing to bet there’d be nobody left on TV except maybe David Attenborough and Anne Widdecombe.

It’s also worth bearing in mind not every mum has their child’s best interests at heart. Genuine worried mum or one willing to completely duck over her child to potentially make a quick buck of her own? Only the people involved know.

Let’s just say that Huw hasn’t paid anyone off and this whole thing is just a fabrication stirred up by a troubled mother… Can you imagine how awful a situation Huw is in now? Career potentially ruined, dignity lost, relationship with his wife and children ruined. It doesn’t bear thinking about.
He has to take some responsibility for his ‘unwise but not illegal’ dirty little secret surely. Perhaps he should have thought about his wife and family and his high profile career before paying a young man for explicit photos. He took a risk in engaging in that type of activity, it’s now backfired. Was it really worth it? I have very little sympathy for him tbh.
