Some are already being cynical about whether the young person's denials through their lawyer can be relied on, but here's the thing: if even the so-called victim, who is an adult, says nothing happened, then this greatly reduces the seriousness of the allegations made by The Sun in absence of any further material information. The Sun has already said in response to the young person's statement, rather sheepishly, that it's now up to the BBC to investigate.

As I've been saying in various comments today, too much has been read into little information and many people here have over-egged the pudding without taking a more reasonable view of the information we have. This doesn't reflect well on us.

Why has the mother gone against her own child and drag them through this? Must be so much more to it behind the scenes.

I think he's been paid off! Never thought I would be backing The Sun, but I hope they bring receipts.

This is going to be another Schofield. It will rumble on for years until something else comes out.

BBC said the boy has engaged the services of very expensive lawyers, not Hight Street ones, big hitters - how come, where did this addict get the funds? The Sun says they have seen evidence to prove that what the parents said is true.

Young person has 'high profile lawyers - multinational' - PAY OFF.
Not necessarily. With the nature of the drama around it there's more than a few firms that would love to sink their claws into this for profile alone, and could easily have approached the young fella.

I said this morning that I had my doubts about the mother, as things seemed rather off. Well well, one point to Happy. 🥳

I’m so confused.

Can we just go back to posting pictures of Huw Edwards’ a? I feel like life was less complicated then.

We have absolutely no idea what relations were between the older man and the younger person. As to "very young": this is simply not true is it. The over-egging of this particular pudding is not helping us piece together a clearer picture of the reality. Too many assumptions based on some misplaced morality about an older man buying content from someone younger. People are projecting far too much on all this in absence of more information.
I think 17 is "very young", don't you? And I'm 20 years younger than HE.

My initial thoughts are young person needs money, they don’t want to burn any bridges or have any potential blackmail brought up so probably wiser in the long term to just keep their gob shut. Mom is desperately trying to control the addiction and failing.

I feel like this person's mother was after money. Sorry to say it but that's how it reads to me.
Not sure how it reads like that when the mother said she wanted the money to stop after more money went into her son’s account. It also clearly stated she didn’t want any payment for her story. Surely if it was about money she’d have allowed the payments to continue.

Sorry if someones posted this. Does anyone remember that article about the BBC offering voluntary redundancy to the high earning stars? Wonder if this is the BBC methodically getting rid of them one way or another.
Either way bet HE is regretting not taking the money!

I believe the mother. No doubt she was extremely distressed having found out what was going on. I know I would be.

The young person may well feel this is something they do not want to pursue and/or felt it wasn't something that was wrong in any way. Only the people involved know the truth.

Hopefully the family can get the help they need and any appropriate action is swiftly taken.

Doubt we will ever know who it was and the announcement on the news just now will probably signal an end to the matter.

So the Mum is either lying (which is sick as duck), or the victim has been paid off. Does make you wonder why HE deleted his Insta though. Literally all he had to do was say it wasn't him.

I'm leaning towards pay off, solely because how can the victim afford big gun, top of the top lawyers?

Remember Hillsborough. The Sun are bleeps. They hate the BBC and ran with this story because they wanted an excuse to bash them. All the while promoting that genuine perve Schofield. Crikey I’m so worried about HE. He has a history of poor mental health.

I NEED Huw sat behind that News At 10 desk, bold as brass, to send this story into a whole new direction.
