Why are you so invested that they are the innocent party? They've obliterated the trust that their child had in them (if they had it to start with). They went to the Sun, and that I cannot understand. Go to the police if you're that concerned, not the Sun, with the best will in the world why on earth would you think that splashing the most intimate details of your child's life on the front page of the tabloids would help anything?

We can speculate on her motives in going to the BBC then the press, but I think the most straightforward explanation is just that she's not bright and she thought the BBC could stop HE, so when they didn't, she felt like she'd been wronged.
If this whole story is true, I definitely feel sorry for her. Loving an addict is horrible. I'm just saying that I think her actions seem odd because she misunderstood what her actions would cause to happen.

Both. Like I said in that post, loving an addict is horrible and I feel sorry for her. But she clearly expected the BBC could do something that they couldn't, then when they didn't, she assumed it was a neglect of duty on their part. Intelligence isn't a moral value, I'm just saying because people are asking why she behaved like this: I think she misunderstood a lot of things about how the world works.
