I get why he's fuming but why's he giving them the publicity? To set his fans on them? I wouldn't even have known about it otherwise
Because why should they get away with using the exact advert hrs put out to advertise his chocolate orange cake? It’s not about the cakes as Rich knows his are far superior, they are ripping his design. It’s not two billion dollar companies having a bit of banter over a caterpillar it’s one company trying to piggy back exposure off another using the exact formula. That is not on and totally with Rich for calling them out over it. It hasn’t bode studio bakery well either as I’ve seen nothing but negative comments which they are swiftly deleting…says it all really

Tesco/studio will have had to have this planned for months, due to having to get packaging made and price cards etc.
I’m betting get baked has seen it or been tipped and pushed his version out earlier

I wasn't talking about the flavour, I meant the GB ad they copied.

Finally had the get baked cake today, picked it up in Manchester yesterday and I honestly don’t think it’s worth the hype. Very artificial in flavour and the layers didn’t stay together when cut

Are you sure you’re not studio bakery looking at your comments lol. I’ve had loads of Bruce and Bertha. None of it tastes artificial and there’s no way the layers fall apart it’s as solid as a rock. Bit too rich but well worth the price tag. Not everyone’s going to like it tho but what you’ve described isn’t accurate. Unlike mouldy ones from Tesco that look like Stevie wonder put them together 🤷🏼‍♀️

I got the pink one about six months ago, it’s VERY fridge. Do agree it’s pretty sturdy! I was so hyped for the pistachio one but then they decided not to do it!

Can you freeze the cake? It's only me who'd eat it and obviously the slices are massive

Just a cake lover and baker. Specifically stayed later in Manchester to try it, brought it home and the whole family said the same. When slicing it, it just fell apart and the ganache either stuck to one side or the other. Tried both cold and warm and wouldn’t rush back. Also picked up the chocolate orange muffin which was moister but again very artificial orange flavour.
I expected it to be rich and decadent but was left lacking. I’ve tried to get one on numerous occasions and been stopped for various reasons so maybe I just hyped it up too much in my head?
I will say the service was amazing, apart from some random worker who came in and started moving about cookies and wiping her hands on her outside clothes!

Tried Buzzy Bees as well while on my recent trip and would 100% recommend

Are the chocolate smiths less popular than they used to be or have the owners wound down?

I remember they even had a brick and mortar shop years back. Now i look at the website and there's no xmas calendars or special items.

They were definitely popular like two years ago but I’ve not really heard much about them since the only thing I heard was apparently she was fundraising for like a new mixer or something

Has everyone seen the binky felstead uproar?? The cake maker angesdesucre is bloody annoying!! She’s loving all this attention. She’s so passive aggressive to everyone. Another baker put one of her cakes in an online group and slated it, rightly so in my opinion as it was shitly made, and she went nuts putting it all over her socials. From counter suing someone about her cake sandwiches to charging an absolute fortune for cakes in a can. She deserves her own thread imo!!!

I've seen various posts about this, I do think it's right to call out influencers on stuff like this. I saw a comment by Finch Bakery that said that cakes don't have as wide a reach as other products (because people will order a cake from someone local to them), so it's rarely worth it for them to give one for free.

Now to Get Baked, does anyone know what happened to Eve, who they hired to do their marketing? She was all over their Instagram and has disappeared.

Wondering this myself, she seemed to fit the brand pretty well. Wonder if there’s more going on there with the owners.
I’ve come close to ordering their specials a few times, the tiramisu one and the mocha one on pre order now but it’s just so much cake and never seems to be good timing for me being able to share it with anyone!

His wife does some of the videos now which I think is a bad move as she’s got an annoying voice, she’s orange and weird looking 🙈😂

Yeah this is right isn’t it, we’d see a cake that an influencer has and think wow that’s gorgeous, but the baker is 7 hours away so I’m never going to be influenced to buy it 🤷‍♀️ And Binky didn’t even share the account of the poor woman who made her free wedding cake either, which makes it even worse!

How does GB get away with basically copying the branding of big companies and making it look like a collab? He's doing a new milky bar cake but copied milky bar branding, so people were commenting saying they're looking forward to the collab, only he's said it's not. I thought companies would have to be careful about making their product look like it's affiliated with/endorsed by a big brand?
