Anybody tried George’s Bakery? His ideas always look great but I can only imagine they’re sickly

Avoid at all costs vile cakes dry grainy and sickly

I love Cakes_contour. I think it’s reasonably priced and delicious. The guy always replies to messages too.

Wasn’t there a full issue with them because they used to buy their cookies from Costco

We have a thread for Finch Bakery but wanted to expand!

I tried Cookie Duck a couple of weeks ago.
And I really wanted to like them because the girl that runs it is lovely.
But they were awful the cookies were more cake like and had no chocolate or anything in, just a biscuit or piece of chocolate plonked on top

I am always curious about these online bakeries and wonder if they’re really worth it/survive the postal system so this thread interested me! I’ve followed George for a while because his bakes look lovely, disappointing to hear they are actually awful!

I’m a good baker myself so I can’t justify the prices when I know I could make something similar myself for a fraction of the price if I really wanted to. I’d be fuming if I paid a premium price for dry cake.

I get why he's fuming but why's he giving them the publicity? To set his fans on them? I wouldn't even have known about it otherwise

Because why should they get away with using the exact advert hrs put out to advertise his chocolate orange cake? It’s not about the cakes as Rich knows his are far superior, they are ripping his design. It’s not two billion dollar companies having a bit of banter over a caterpillar it’s one company trying to piggy back exposure off another using the exact formula. That is not on and totally with Rich for calling them out over it. It hasn’t bode studio bakery well either as I’ve seen nothing but negative comments which they are swiftly deleting…says it all really

I wish Get Baked would stop with the cringey customer requests for Bruce
I dunno it just seems so off brand and BASIC
All the comments on posts going ‘omg I’d love an after eight Bruce! A jaffa cake Bruce, a custard cream Bruce’
Or ones asking for a lemon Bruce with lemon sponge and meringue and custard
It’s not even Bruce anymore
Like wtf
Then they repost it and ask for comments
I don’t know why it annoys me so much

I totally agree! I think unfortunately he’s getting too big for his boots. People are getting fed up of not being able to order a slice of Bruce yet he can listen to all these crazy different flavours? What made him different was it was a simple concept. Now he’s never there and on holiday all the time the novelty will wear off. Plus he was doing a fast food outlet that never materialised. It seems his ADHD (or whatever his excuse is for being rude) is his personality now and gets far too excited when a z lister tags him

Who follows Sarah’s creative kitchen? I can’t stand the woman! Always moaning about small businesses can’t afford this and that whilst wearing Invisalign she looks about 60 (I’m sure she’s a lot younger) and always has cold sores which when she’s dealing with food just gives me the ick she just casually mentioned on her posts the other day how she was going to kill herself this time last year as business was that bad like it was normal to say. There’s just something about her. She just melts chocolate and puts bits on it and sells it again to me lol but makes out she invented it. I dunno she just grates on me

Totally agree. It is really annoying me that they are expecting customers to find their wrapping machine via different ways. Their chocolate is expensive for what it is and to put an additional % on top to find their machine-that will make them profit is scandalous. Very entitled. I won’t be buying from them anymore.

Especially as at the same time they’re supposedly moving house?? So why can’t they stay where they are and use the money for the machine? Also the holiday they’re on atm. Can’t be short of money yet begging for handouts? Nah another one on my NEVER BUY OF THESE GRIFTERS list

Has anyone heard/noticed anything about Jane ('Jane's Patisserie) getting a divorce? I thought I was going mad but she's definitely not been wearing her rings, and then I searched her socials and she's definitely mentioned her husband in the past. Had a look at Companies House and it seemed like he'd been taken off some documents. Doesn't really matter tbh I'm just nosey

Can see a storm brewing between Get Bakeds army of fans and Studio Bakery due to their launch with Tesco. The influencer comparison videos have already started, I’d put my money on Get Baked sending a few of their cakes out to influencers for positive reviews

Yeah it happened a year after they got married I noticed when she never uploaded her husbands birthday cake which she did every year and someone asked her if she’s okay since she’s not been wearing her wedding ring and she said thank you

I've seen various posts about this, I do think it's right to call out influencers on stuff like this. I saw a comment by Finch Bakery that said that cakes don't have as wide a reach as other products (because people will order a cake from someone local to them), so it's rarely worth it for them to give one for free.

Now to Get Baked, does anyone know what happened to Eve, who they hired to do their marketing? She was all over their Instagram and has disappeared.

Yeah this is right isn’t it, we’d see a cake that an influencer has and think wow that’s gorgeous, but the baker is 7 hours away so I’m never going to be influenced to buy it And Binky didn’t even share the account of the poor woman who made her free wedding cake either, which makes it even worse!

I used to love Big Bakes Bakery, their stuff tastes great, is made with decent ingredients and seemed to have lots of original ideas. Since they've started working with super scammer Part Time Working mummy I can no longer bring myself to buy from them. Bad times!

He lives near me so I've been to his markets quite a few times.
His stuff is full of sugar.
His cakes are horrible. I had one and never again.
The other stuff, I don't know anyone that's eaten it and not been glued to the toilet the next day.

His brownies and cookie dough are also horrible.

There’s a Northern Irish chain called Bob and Bert’s who do different tray bake boxes to order online that look really decent but would like to hear someone’s real life opinion before I bought them . I would recommend Mimis Bakehouse Edinburgh they do really nice different traybakes but it’s a bit pricy
