I suppose a lot of it rests on what the surname is too. I knew a woman called Christine and she took her husband’s name when they married. His surname was Cross so she unfortunately ended up as “Chris Cross”.
We have a very short surname, with a J sound and unfortunately a lot of the boys names we like are short J names, so it doesn’t sound good at all

Helpful thread! Currently pregnant, haven't found out gender and picked out faves for a girl and boy that we both like. One of my good friends just told us her baby boy due in March will be called our top choice so back to the drawing board with boys names! Already find them so hard whereas if she had nabbed the girls, I had a back up haha! Find names hard as I'm a teacher so seen a lot of children who I'd never want my child to be names the same as 🤣
My tops for boys are- Ted, Arthur, Grayson, Max
Girls- Olivia, Poppy, Ivy, Evelyn, Blossom (been told no to this one on no uncertain terms but I ❤ it)
Two of my granddaughters have this for a 2nd name My Son used it first and my daughter loved it so used it as well.

I love 💗 the name Nancy. Such a gorgeous name.

I love the name lily but our surname is unusual with lots of L's....5 to be precise so lily with our surname would be ridiculous.
I also love the name Leah/Leá

I love the name Thalia, my husband isn't convinced but I have always loved it since I was young.

I love the name Gabriel for a boy ! My taste has changed over time but classic names never date .

I really love Lisa/Elisa for a girl. I know its a bit dated but I think its so pretty for a little baby girl 🥺 I've always adored the name Delilah but its becoming a bit popular among the z-listers. Hopefully it dies out a bit by the time I'm ready for babies. I've also followed a gorgeous Japanese model on instagram for years called Minori and always thought her name was adorable.

Same here! I love the name Joel but it's so similar to our surname. I also love Blake but my partner insists on not having the initials BJ 🤣

I love Jonathan too , I think it might be a future middle name we’d use for a son of ours .. our son has my husbands name as his middle name and that’s a more classic , “older” name so it would fit well I think :)

I forgot to say our first choice girls name is Martha , I always leave it off lists when I post it in case someone steals it , sometimes I forget I’m anonymous here :)

We used our only boy name we could agree on for our son, so not sure what we’ll come up with if this baby is a boy! I find girls names much easier to think of. My current favourites are:
Aria
Madeleine
Charlotte
Sarah
Eva
Evie
Harper

In the past my mum has said for ANY name we suggest “oh Andrew? That’ll be little AJ. Oh Charlie? That’ll be a wee CJ.” 🙄
I am actually pregnant and my husband loves the name Benjamin. I’m about to remind him tonight how that’ll make BJ!

When I was pregnant I really liked the name Isabella if we had a girl. My boyfriend would constantly say 'people would just call her Isabelland' 🙄

Lol, you're right. We had this years ago. My friend's daughter loved the name Nicholas. Unfortunately her surname was Willey. She'd not thought about it at all until we pointed it out. 🤣
