The trend that really irks me is labelling something as unintentional ASMR when it really isn't... also I don't really understand when people call it 'intentional unintentional ASMR' surely that's just normal ASMR?!
Unintentional ASMR is still very popular and lots of channels are trying to go back to the start of things by making 2-person roleplay vids instead of 'talking-to-the-camera-as-an-elf' vids, so they put 'unintentional' in the title to draw in that crowd.

I haven't gone off any ASMRtists because i have such a small core of favourites that are deliberately repetitive, but on the other hand I haven't really found a new ASMR channel to follow in years. WhisperAudios still makes fantastic videos for YT, I can't speak against her for that. FeMale ASMR uploads so regularly I thought I'd get burnout but even now they still put me to sleep. There's also some Turkish barber blokes that are really relaxing but I can never remember their channel names offhand!

I loved Laura back in the early days but I feel like ASMR has moved on and she hasn't. The standard of content creation is so high now, it makes her stuff feels really budget (and not in a lo-fi chills way). Everything feels quick and rushed - so many other ASMRtists treat us to thoughtfully planned out and well-edited videos.

She approaches everything in a very childlike way. I agree she hasn't moved on. I think her parents have infantalised her, which is probably why she is so dependent on others and unable to deal with most things without having a melt down and needs constant praise.

I discovered I really hate mouth sounds in ASMR.
Whispers Red ASMR has wonderful videos, and she seems very real, but she's constantly making smacking sounds with her mouth. UGH.

I'll just stick to Mother nature: thunderstorms, rain, fire crackling etc to calm my nerves.

I can’t stand whispers red. Nothing about her is appealing and I’ve not gotten any asmr from a single video of hers.

I'm not sure if I know what you mean by the tongue clicking (though I'm sure I'd recognise it if I heard it because I watch way more ASMR than I should!) but something I've noticed becoming really popular is 'TikTok ASMR' for lack of a better term. Usually really fast paced with aggressive tapping on things accompanied by what I can only describe as a stage whisper. It's so chaotic, unrelaxing and untingly, and it's everywhere.
This! I suppose it's a trend now and many artists are getting popular from tiktok and bringing this style to YouTube. It is not relaxing to me in anyway and it being all over now makes it hard for me to find new creators. Some long time asmrtists have even transitioned to this style.

Due to this plus tongue clicking I've actually found myself going back to the og asmrtists who never changed their style like whispers red. Starling ASMR also has a make up channel that's been my go to recently

I don't mind her stuff and it can be relaxing sometimes, but have you seen that video she did a while back where she visited a real life ASMR experience in California or something? It was unintentionally hilarious. They all start singing 'IS IT NOW?' over and over at one point and I still don't know what they're even asking. I don't think I'd be able to keep a straight face if I visited somewhere like that.

I love Starling! Her videos are consistently good. I found BellaBree via TikTok and I think that's one good thing to come out of it because her soft/inaudible whisper is great.

y'all itsblitzzz is truly out of her mind

she essentially said she is sick and tired of taking care of her elderly cat and feels hatred and resentment towards her. what a sicko, I linked the reddit thread someone posted about it.

She has a very strange & nonchalant approach on discussing sensitive topics~ makes her look really self entitled & insufferable

She once sent her flying monkeys to my IG page because I said it was harmful for her to say things like 'you don't need medication to get out of depression' as a non-medical professional, especially when drugs for mental health are still stigmatised. She basically acted like I personally told her that her journey wasn't valid, instead of rationally understanding that blanket statements when you have a large platform are dangerous. Glad to see she's still being a whiny witch though. She can cry her tears into her multiple mortgages now that she's fulfilled her dream about being a landlord or whatever.

There's someone on that reddit thread defending her saying it's "out of context " someone else posted the whole thing and it doesn't look any better with the context anyway 😅 I get being a new mum must be difficult but she doesn't have a job, can spend as much time as she wants at home doing whatever, has family support. I don't get how having cats can be so difficult she seemingly resents them, especially as she clearly has the money for vet bills etc

Smacking four pieces of Extra and asking all kinds of questions about LGBTQ+ people/ignorance about trans children while demanding "respectful debate" in the comments. Never, ever change, girl. Meanwhile I had to report two TERFs (straight up whining about "why are we talking about MEN again") but I know Yewchewbe ain't gonna do anything about it.

Never thought I'd see the day where bigotry was being delivered via ASMR
During Pride Month no less

No kidding.

At the time of this posting there's a known leggings scratching pest in the comments (I've seen him around frequently, he asks women why they don't turn around and show their asses) doing the "well I don't care but don't involve children," a pickme saying the only LGBTQ people who don't invite questions are loud teenagers, and another pickme who thinks acceptance means we're in a "dangerous place."

I don't necessarily enjoy reading these comments, as an agender person myself, but figured I'd better at least see what ole girl considers a comment made in love and kindness before she invariably dirty deletes, like her hospital ASMR video...

I tried to watch this but I really don't like tapping so I didn't make it really far. I did watch through her first question about how if you're a lesbian but like masculine men then aren't you heterosexual which i think is really weird to ask in 2023 but maybe she lives in an underground bunker in a cave in the north pole and uploads her videos by sending vhs tapes to youtube in the mail.

ASMR is supposed to be relaxing, why make it so controversial and inflammatory?
