Am I being ungrateful?

If your boyfriend is generally a thoughtful, kind and fun person and pays his way in your household then that is the main thing. It sounds like this present situation was just a mistake anyway.
Don't make this a thing and perhaps have an argument over it, it really isn't worth it.

Please be greatful you can be with your partner on Christmas... I haven't seen mine in 6 months now and counting ☹

Regarding the gift have you tried communicating with him how you feel? That might be a good start 👍

you do! We actually did this which was why I was upset x

I mean first off I apologise to the person who said first world problems that am not dying in a ditch somewhere

to the others fair enough that you’d think that, I welcomed opinions and you were nice enough it was more the issue that we’d specifically agreed ok what to get and he didn’t stick to it but regardless thanks for the comments :)

we actually do the second idea every year but this year we thought we’d do specific ones also we did set a specific amount to spend and that’s why I was upset!

this actually is what I ended up saying but didn’t get a chance to make a post yesterday! He actually just assumed the link had already inputted the size I wanted, paid and didn’t give it another thought so when he checked the email and it said 35ml he thought it was standard

We just resolved I’d keep it anyway because we couldn’t be bothered with the faff of returning it and he’d treat me to a meal sometime!
You asked for people's opinions and now you are getting upset? Right.

After being together for 5 years I’d have the balls to say to his face, look your gift was £150 and we agreed to spend the same but you’ve only spent £80? It’s not being ungrateful in my opinion it’s stating a fact.

And see all these comments about there’s more issues going on in the world, yes there are but there is nothing the OP can do about them, she is only in control of her own life. That’s like saying oh sorry you’re unwell but there’s people homeless on the streets so forget about your health and go help them.

People on here can be so judgemental.

OP said he spent £57, not £80.

I agree with you though, especially since he specifically asked for a more expensive gift

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the whole point of Tattle to be judgemental? That's why people come here so we can ag of celebrities and influencers etc etc

For my husbands birthday this year I spent close to £150 on him for my birthday he spent about £30, everything was off Amazon too. I was really hurt so completely understand where your coming from! I really hope he has either got you the bigger size or has another present hidden for you!

This happened to me once my other half bought me loads of rubbish of Amazon. I honestly think it is just laziness. I told him to take it all back as it is everything i didn't want.

The girls asking for advice, not to be judged.

Would you jump on the TTC thread and judge the women on there who are struggling to conceive? Or the covid threads where people talk about their loved ones that have died this year?

Come on, how is struggling to conceive or having lost a loved one even any where close to being in the same league as being a spoilt cat who is throwing a fit because someone didn’t spend enough money on them for Christmas?! The OP asked for opinions. Highly doubt anyone is asking for opinions on their struggles to conceive or their grief.

Your comment was ridiculous. I think everyone here with half a brain understands there is a time and place on tattle for being a judgemental twit (as we all can be) and your examples of infertility and grief were just idiotic, to say the least. I highly doubt any person on here would ever be judgemental about the things you mentioned.

As stated above the OP asked for opinions. If she already had her mind made up she wouldn’t be coming on here asking for an opinion 🤷🏻‍♀️

I personally would be grateful that people came on and gave a different perspective than me being raging about only getting 35ml perfume 🤦🏻‍♀️ can almost hear her feet stamping

Tbh, I think it’s really silly and I wouldn’t personally be upset by this. Especially because you don’t know maybe he’s got you something else too, maybe he got what he could afford. Is he usually a person who is quite tight with his money? I think it’s best to communicate. Tell him you’re annoyed about it. But you risk him being peeved at you because I think it comes across as really ungrateful. Short answer: you’re being ungrateful. Buy it for yourself instead don’t rely on others to fulfil your wants. Next time don’t spend so much on him so then you won’t feel like you’ve been cheated

someone loosing a loved one or struggling to conceive a child is stratospheres away from this petty nonsense about the cost of a bottle of perfume. No one would be judgmental about those things because those things are serious and actually matter.

Agreed!!! Christmas has become far too focused on gifts and materialistic things. Instead of looking at the price of what he bought her OP should be grateful and take into account that he’s bought her anything at all! Having plenty of others to probably buy gifts for he probably had to buy the cheapest option to afford it. Just find it so petty! It definitely could never be compared to infertility or serious matters. That’s just absurd

I wouldn't be upset, but if you're open and honest enough to choose your own gifts, and he's told you what he's bought then just tell him straight you have spent 3 x what he did and I'm sure he will get you something else. You'll know next year to be more specific on the size of perfume bottle 😂

Why don’t you just buy what you want yourselves? I find it a ridiculous process just for the act of what is essentially swapping purchases. If there’s no thought I think you should just buy it yourself.
