I don‘t understand her apologies. A few times she ended it with „I just came back to Youtube and have a lot to learn.“ Did she not consume any kind of media in this time? I don‘t get it. It seems like such a lazy way out to me that doesn‘t even work

I was pretty shocked by all that footage to be honest. I couldn't tell for how long her disordered eating went on for but it seemed like a long time. Why did she not get professional help earlier? Someone in the comments said that she/her family are mormons and that is why she doesn't believe in therapy, I don't know how true that is lol. Her family seemed very harsh/mean though, I don't think they are the type to encourage her to get help. She 100% denies having an eating disorder/having a mental illness, she shared her opinions about that in this live: link. I think a lot of young girls look up to her and i don't think she is a good influence tbh especially when she keeps calling herself weak and lazy

I'm very much confused by her new video that's 12 seconds long called "My weight loss transformation." Like, we've seen your episodes girl... and your instagram posts. We get it. You lost weight.

I mean she wrote a comment talking about how she's testing out YouTube shorts? (which is supposed to be like TikTok?) But, I'm pretty sure you've always been able to post short YouTube videos so I'm not seeing how this is a new feature. She also could've chosen any other subject besides weight loss like a short trailer/announcement about the new redo season of her Glow Up Diaries.

I’m concerned about the message she is portraying to her followers, she has such a huge following and a lot of them are so young. :(

I bet within a year she will be back at square one with her weight again.

The start of the latest Glow Up episode rubbed me the wrong way. The whole point is that it’s supposed to be her glow up (not anyone else’s) and her practising self-talk, so the lecture about using ‘not having money’ as an excuse felt out of place. Also when she said she didn’t have a home gym either but later showed herself running on the treadmill in her bedroom and swimming in the family pool. There’s nothing wrong with being wealthy, but she’s deluded if she can’t see that she is privileged. Yet she thinks people in worse situations are at an advantage.

I only recently discovered her and there are things I like. The Glow Up Diaries is a cool idea, and I like the way she edits her videos. I can empathise with her struggles and how her journey isn’t straightforward. She seems to have deeper issues than she’s willing to admit, and her family don’t appear to be very helpful. But seeing her go from one extreme to the next (binge eating to overexercising(?) ) is uncomfortable. She seems very sensitive to criticism and sheltered too. Was surprised to see she’d been doing YouTube for years.

looks like she's now making a part two of her Glow Up diaries. I just find it weird that these videos are filmed a whole year prior... Makes it seem like this is all planned and scripted, not her real struggles? Idk. I just feel like she's milking her ED problems for views and money?
Omg!!! Did you see how her addiction to food video was? And the drastic weight loss within months! So so unhealthy. She needs therapy not a YouTube channel. Its misguiding so many young girls to believe that being fit and hot is everything. Also her suicidal thoughts in the video was so disturbing to watch.

I've reported the video to youtube for harmful content tbh. Not only is it full of misinformation, the framing of her ED as a "weakness" is incredibly damaging

I like the new episode a lot better than what she did originally for S2, it feels a bit more like the first series.
Her editing style is really good, I like the way she chooses to present things so creatively.

It seems like she’s just swapped from food as a form of self harm to exercise. Obviously I don’t know what goes on in her life but from what comes across in the videos, I feel that therapy could help her tackle the root issue rather than ‘fixing’ it with weight loss and fitness.

Obesetobeast posted a video about Alivia. Haven‘t watched it yet because it‘s 40 minutes long. Based off of the title I assume he will heavily critique her

I agree, she reminds me of women I've known who just constantly do cycles of weight watchers/slimming world etc- they lose the weight from restricting and putting super harsh rules around food and labelling foods as "good" and "bad" and then pile the weight back on the minute they stop going to the meetings/doing the diet.

That video made me really uncomfortable, the way Steve says things as if they’re absolute fact when they’re not. I actually tried to find some scientific papers about insulin and “fat burning zone” I couldn’t find anything to support what he was saying. I did find an article by a doctor saying the link between insulin spikes and weight loss was unproven and ineffective though. I mean, it’s what insulin is there for, it’s produced to breakdown food. Also, as everyone has said before, I think she really needs professional help. The cost of Steve probably would have been better spent on a registered dietician to address her ED and establish healthy long term habits. A lot of dieticians agree that demonising foods as “good” or “bad” triggers binge eating disorders, and she seems to do this a lot.
Also, regarding Steve’s program, for me a “triangle” shaped person, he recxomds 45-50 minutes of cardio 3-6 days a week. ON TOP of weight lifting. That’s some serious exercise. I can only imagine that much over exercising would cause injuries. Not to mention I could never sustain that for a prolonged period of time.

Is anyone keeping up with Season 2 of the Glowup Diaries? She announced she would post episode 2 on Sunday, then postponed for tomorrow(aka Monday) and now it is Tuesday and she still hasn't posted it. So you will post it on Wednesday like it was scheduled originally? Just don't say anything if you know you're still irresponsible....Also she made a post on her community tab on YouTube that she doesn't have Binge Eating Disorder or any other disorder because she is STRONG and doesn't want to "identify with the disorder"........Girl you do realise you probably have it and also BED is caused by emotional/mental factors, you can't just get through it by "being strong" and forcing yourself not to binge...She is only glowing up in the sense that she is losing weight, not in the emotional and mental sphere......
The glow up is strictly physical and not mental. If tomorrow she gains a few pounds I’m pretty certain that she’ll relapse because she does have a problem that needs help! :/

Her family’s reaction to her weight gain was so disgusting. And she wasn’t even fat!!! It wasn’t like she was obese. This was so hard to watch.
i know right? she posted this video in 2019 and the title says it all:

what does alivia do for a living? she quit college, went to taiwan and just lives of youtube? and she can afford that privileged place in LA? i searched his father on google (for privacy reasons i won't put his info here, but i must admit it's quite easy to find) and apparently he's a lawyer. is that where the money comes from?

I can't watch her, she's bad for my mental health. It all comes back to weight loss with her. I use to watch them and kept thinking she needs therapy not another diet plan. Pushes herself, binges, restricts, binges. I'VE been there so I sympathies.

Are her insta posts current??? I can never tell. From that trailer video it would seem they're not as she mentioned glow up pictures coming January 13th on insta.

Hey guys, just reading all your comments- and I have to say I agree with most of it. I really enjoyed the Glow Up series so far and was looking forward to the new season, and I must admit that I get where a lot of the critique comes from, but also that it might be really unhealthy for her to hear because it is clear that she takes it very personally. My two scents, and maybe this is harsh, is that she still has issues but they come in a different form than what they used to. When the new series started again (the episodes that got backlash) she was open about sitting inside for days without sleep or food or taking care of herself because she was editing. The reposting and deleting and just behaviour in general online to me shows that even if she did a 180 with her diet, she still seems like a girl with very low self worth and perfectionistic traits that are at an unhealthy level. She is really good at editing and creating content but she does not practice what she is preaching. I think at this point she needs to just either go for it and publish consistently until the series are done, or just let it be. I get the impression that the series isn't something positive for her anymore, rather something she feels like she needs to perfect before posting because she does not want backlash.

Her "moving to a new country at 18" video was just recommended to me. It's weird that she is phrasing it like she is just up and moving somewhere else - she is doing a PROGRAM at a new university - idk I guess the way she phrased the title I assumed that she had to work out visa and housing stuff on her own and moved there. Even though she claims to do all of the financial stuff on her own (I am sure she makes money through youtube) she seems to get really offended by insinuations of privilege. I really don't know what to make of her, but I agree about her not understanding the financial challenges that others face.

Has anyone watched the new video? She responds to "everything" in it.
What she actually does is deflect and manipulate her audience once again saying "I love you guys! Your positive comments are my drive".
No offense but you have such a big following, of course people will say you changed their life when you didn't, they're still on the couch eating ice cream and feeling like shit. Just because someone writes you a paragraph doesn't mean shit, you don't see that persons life and tbh your message of just be strong and you can do anything is not new or revolutionary.
This has just solidified the fact to me that this person has no self-awareness. I am her age as well and that doesn't excuse me promoting harmful things. Bye
