I have been diagnosed with ADHD, I recognise I was extremely lucky to be able to have my diagnosis done privately and I'm extremely grateful for that. My brother also has severe ADHD which he was diagnosed with as a child, as well as having a few other things, including Aspergers. The way Alex is making a caricature of having ADHD makes me feel sick, it reminds me of when I used to tell people my brother had Aspergers and their response was 'Oh so he's really good at maths then?' or 'Is he like Bill Gates?' The media portrays ADHD as having loads of quirky hobbies and being unable to sit still for long, but it actually can majorly affect peoples lives, and it's not some cute, quirky trait to add to your repertoire.I mean this with absolutely no disrespect to anyone who has ADHD, but among influencers it is coming across a bit like 2022’s version of when Zoella talked about anxiety a decade ago and suddenly everyone decided they had an anxiety disorder and couldn’t differentiate between that and the run of the mill occasional anxious thought or feeling that’s part of being human. I’m aware of 3 including Alex recently who have received a diagnosis in quick succession - could totally be a coincidence but there is something about it that feels a bit… off. Like the things that they’re not good at or find hard or frankly don’t want to do MUST be because they have some kind of neurodiversity and therefore nobody can criticise those particular quirks.
I think Alex has some serious issues, her constant need to be posting, as well as the issues with her eating disorder, which clearly need to be worked out privately with a therapist. Oversharing the mass amount of content that she does is unhealthy and frankly verging on the side of dangerous for her younger, easily influenced followers. Some might have serious conditions but believe they can sort them by following Alex's advice, or worse, have medical issues (such as having ADHD or ADD or similar) that will go unaddressed as they believe 'Oh here's Alex showing that she does X, Y and Z and I do that too!' Also her sharing these images of her body, they are essentially the same as dieters sharing 'before and after'. It's incredibly harmful and I think post-wedding she's suffering with some major mental health issues that need to be addressed
