I know often when I go on and someone I follow posts ‘Oh sorry I haven’t been here for a week’ and it’s like ‘You haven’t? I hadn’t noticed’ even when it’s someone I like ! The drum kit thing… what on Earth? She just said they live in a tiny flat, so why is she cluttering it up with big bulky purchases that she openly admits she’ll abandon in a few weeks I’d be so mad if my husband did something like that without telling me. Feel sorry for Dave, she seems like she would be a nightmare to live with. It’s weird how all this quirky content has appeared since her ADHD “diagnosis”. Her feed mainly comprises of this now, along with endless self-pity and Betty the dog. I’m not interested in how many Everest documentaries she’s watched. And btw, fixating on something like that doesn’t mean you have ADHD anyway. I go through phases where I get really obsessed by certain things and I don’t have ADHD. Just feels like she’s jumping on a bandwagon to me.

I only found Alex’s account a few months ago and I LOVED her message about body positivity and calling out of diet culture. But recently she’s just become soooo annoying, I can’t put my finger on it? Lots of “wahoo I’m crazy and scatty” content since her reveal of her ADHD diagnosis. Think I might have to unfollow which is really rubbish cos I was so happy to have found a normal unproblematic influencer lol.

Her stories are seriously ‘thirsty’ for attention. She’s looking very very odd and I actually feel sorry for the her husband. She’s been high maintenance in the past but I feel that her recent behaviour is drama looking for likes and more followers. Reign it in Alex as I’m sure you’re reading on here.

It's all become anxiety inducing and no longer fun or interesting to follow her. She has ADHD but that doesn't mean she has to act like an excitable toddler that's had too much red bull. I completely agree that she's now fallen into the instahun of acting a fool in order to be funny/ relatable. I don't actually think she is funny and Dave even less so. All the pretending to not know he's being filmed is now just odd and her constant need to whip her camera out every 5 seconds in order to post any old nonsense is becoming really tedious.

Yeaaa I don't understand her 'fashion inspo' posts. I mean, I don't think she dresses badly or anything but she certainly isn't inspiring me.

She's good at lots of things but I don't think fashion is her jam. She needs to stay in her own lane as it's coming across a bit desperate. Obviously craving that validation from strangers.

I used to love Alex, really related to her and thought she had really thoughtful content. Had to unfollow her recently, as her following has grown she’s become really unlikeable, I also can’t put my finger on why. The attack on Charlotte Dawson was quite outrageous, I could see the point she was trying to make but she really upset that girl and given the whole message she portrays about women supporting women and “no judgement if you want to diet, I used to diet too!”, the whole thing just felt really targeted and uncomfortable. And hypocritical given she’s now promoting that stupid mirror with what feels like really disingenuous intentions.

As an aside, I got diagnosed with ADHD when I was 25 (now 29) and pre the diagnosis announcement I used to think Alex had it because a lot of what she said resonated with how I was pre-medication. But since the diagnosis she’s become this ADHD caricature and it feels really disrespectful to people who have it and manage to act like a human being with their tit together rather than a hyperactive child.

Anyway, I’m so glad there is a thread now and that other people are unfollowing her after seeing the Light..... (get it I’ll see myself out hahaha)

I mean this with absolutely no disrespect to anyone who has ADHD, but among influencers it is coming across a bit like 2022’s version of when Zoella talked about anxiety a decade ago and suddenly everyone decided they had an anxiety disorder and couldn’t differentiate between that and the run of the mill occasional anxious thought or feeling that’s part of being human. I’m aware of 3 including Alex recently who have received a diagnosis in quick succession - could totally be a coincidence but there is something about it that feels a bit… off. Like the things that they’re not good at or find hard or frankly don’t want to do MUST be because they have some kind of neurodiversity and therefore nobody can criticise those particular quirks.

And just going to add , and please don't come at me, from my experience in the school system with regards to get a child diagnosis, a privately paid for diagnosis is not worth the paper it's written on.

My son was referred for ADHD assessment back in October via school. I haven’t heard a single thing since. I have a feeling this is going to be a very long process…

Unfortunately yes which is why so many people end up going the paid private route. Sadly these private diagnosis are not always good because as with anything you pay for the key word there is you have paid for it. Diagnosis which are done through the school/ local authorities are much more accurate and respected within education and in general.

Unless things have changed usually referrals are done via GP ?
