I've just been to Lidl with my teenager and I think he is traumatised for life after witnessing an older woman drop a roll from the bakery on the floor, look around furtively and then return it to the shelf. Not sure if he will ever eat from there again.

Went to my local branch of Lidl and they had all sorts of special buys. Not one of their fans were available around 4pm.

Did get the back brace, with cooling pad, and lots of little bits, including their version of the M&S dips. Chose the Loaded Caesar and Salmon and cream cheese dip. Only £1.99 each so the same as their "inspiration". Will report back but the pesto swirl from the bakery is delicious.

Did anyone else get a free bakery item randomly added to their card this week? I’ll be using it on a seeded sourdough as I’m obsessed with the stuff and may as well get a higher cost item rather than a pastry. I’ll be using the new app tomorrow for the first time so will see how the points add up after a weekly shop but really think it’s a downgrade from the previous system from what I’ve seen

You lot influenced me today... I'd bought a box of the M +S Rodney pies (M+S) but a couple of people said they weren't amazing....so I've also gone to Aldi and got the Jamaican Rum mince pies....

We had to brave Aldi this morning, I was thinking it’ll be nice and quiet as lots of people had their last day at work yesterday probably nursing hangovers. Nope, absolutely manic. It was horrendous still forgot bits so will have to go one last time before Christmas.

I am not a baker in any way (an attempt was made during lockdown, but the less said about that the better...) but I want this standing mixer for my pink kitchen

I bought these yesterday and live alone. There are none left today. So it's both a recommendation and a warning.

That’s why I don’t buy things like this cos I live alone and I’d eat the whole box no willpower.

M and S is quite near to Aldi and they seem to do a lot of it in there. I watch a young lad pinch 2 ltr bottles of vodka in marks and the assistant said they were not allowed to approach them. Last week in Aldi I saw a kid pinch some Haribo type sweets and 2 quite big staff members were onto him straight away as if he had pinched vodka.

I’ve a relative who works for Aldi and they say the theft is at a record high. They are told not to approach as you never know if someone has a weapon on them but they say they also can’t help when they see people visibly steal to approach and try to stop them

What is barista milk? I picked some cornish stuff up in Aldi today thinking it was similar to a jersey/ gold top but saw it said barista. Is it only for coffee? I will google!

Barista milk usually has additives that make it possible for the plant based milks to be steamed and frothed. Normal oat milk for example doesn't really work when you try to make a latte
