Some redditors have also pointed out that this has never actually worked in general. You kill one person, another one replaces them and so on

Apparently they have killed an ‘organiser’ already but it’s like… one of many organisers and they will just be replaced?

I know that they don’t exactly have a better choice here, but the whole situation is just stupid and Biden is coming off as some deep 14 year old with all this talk of always remembering and whatever
Its crazy saying we have the head guy, I would expect we just have one head guy in any other army, we know AlQueda didn’t vanish when they got Bin Laden…… the next in command just steps up.
this just feels attritional now and we will back within the year…..

Can’t imagine that British citizens will be getting any priority if they get to the borders - assuming they even can. Apparently a few have decided to stay willingly but there’s also some who have are sadly being left behind
Yeh and then they will be made examples of by the taliban/isis as it is guaranteed media coverage. I cannot begin to imagine how scared they must be

A whole lot of Taqiyah going on here that's for sure. Whoever does not agree stand true to your convictions. However I've noticed that tattle is not the place where it's ready to hear a non liberal view. One way ticket to getting your account banned. It's a place to pretend that you can have a discussion with disagreement (just ignore who makes you upset) but no, the majority opinion rules. As long as they can call you the R word along with other names to shut down your opinion. Although you are a VIP member it might work differently for you 😉
There’s tons of places on here that doesn’t have a liberal viewpoint.

From the other footage they seemed to have just been left on the side of the street
That’s horrendous. They are going to suffer so much. They always seem to show footage of men escaping or men on boats and I always wonder where the women are or if they can’t film them. Because the women are always the ones who suffer the most in these situations.

They may be advising people to go to the border but the taliban are controlling check points and any afghans that get across (to one of the countries, can’t remember which) are being sent back.

According to the MOD Twitter, Pen and the animals are in Kabul airport waiting to go. His team are not with him, unfortunately.

Many would still have an issue regardless of who they are, most are concerned about the increasing numbers coming here via this route.
I think people now are sympathetic to Afghans escaping and that's cool and all, but we all know how those conversations end or get twisted once the media stops covering it an awful lot. Plus, imo, we may see another rise in people crossing countries illegally because the West isn't doing/going to be doing enough to help or being very selective with who they're helping

Here's an article from 2020 about asylum seekers going through the Channel for example
Some articles from 2018-19 say that Briton's are generally more sympathetic and it's a very polarised issue which is fair and I think could be accurate, but that's still a fair amount of people who are referring to refugees as 'invaders' or whatever

The thing they normally say is the men get to a country of safety and then bring the family over. But they never take immigration laws into account so the family almost never gets to come.
They say that, but exactly, that plan dosen't exactly always work out. So best to just try bring them with you.

Ben Wallace is saying that Pen and his convoy can’t jump the queue etc etc but that was never the issue. Pen never wanted the jump the queue, he just wanted to leave with his staff and animals. If Wallace hadn’t been posturing this would have been sorted last week.

Where did you read that about the US marines? I can’t see it anyway

It's confirmed on multiple Twitter feeds too

Honest question as I’m late to this story- why would Pen’s staff be eligible to leave Afghanistan ahead of any other local? Is there a specific reason to differentiate them from other Afghans and which would justify them leaving?

Honestly wish the military could stop pratting about with concerns about animals Getting out, and focus on getting the vulnerable people out who need to be evacuated urgently.
UK closed gates in early morning of today and was only processing very few people that they had hand selected

Not sure what the state of US is but judging by the document changes, I imagine that the situation is more or less the same in a way

it doesn’t seem that we are really rescuing any ‘new’ people at this point

Lyse Doucet still seems to be in Kabul (on the news now), so I wonder what the process is for press. Apparently Sky news (or some other press people) was told to go home as the governments/military didn’t want people to see the mess that would occur in the very last days

edit - it was Sky News indeed

It’s interesting because the language in another article suggests that they were charging for getting these people to the airport rather than the flights themselves. Granted that’s still a lot of money

Nothing was ever going to be perfect - we have to be grateful that so many DID get out and hope that the taliban lot are going to be amenable to releasing the rest. They after all are fighting the isis thugs themselves so may well be grateful for assistance to rid themelves of that cancer lurking in their society.
From what I’ve read though, we’re not planning to be working with them, we are begging for release of the rest and that’s it. The Taliban are aligned with with AlQuaeda, so I doubt any western nation will align themselves to them. Russia and China are in there for the money, they can help them sort it, I’m sure they will get on amazingly discussing human rights.
And I’m going to be honest, I wouldn’t want our government to support them with isis. The world hasn’t fully left and they are allegedly at it

Are the US really threatening Isis-K?

I know it's not really ideal, but what else can they do other than just leave Afghanistan? Any fight against Isis-K will now be funding/helping the Taliban

Would absolutely disagree with his stance. The world is much 'smaller' due to education, internet access, social media. Therefore people would have some idea of what to expect if they left their home country. If I had to suddenly move to Poland, I could access a language app on my phone, I could look up where to buy clothes, food etc and if I wanted to practice a religion, I would be able to find out where to go to do this.

However, this can make people a bit twitchy because people can assimilate at a faster rate than previously and that is perceived as a threat.

There were far fewer cultural similarities in the past, Britain is much more diverse now than 1940s
I agree with the world being smaller, of course, but I think his point was (i would imagine) that most people in somewhere like the UK couldn;t imagine being in a situation like that of Afghanistan today; in the 1930s with Oswold Mosely, for example, things like fascism could have seemed much more likely so you could imagine yourself being a refugee escaping an awful racist regime, could anyone really say that now? I don;t agree that this is the right view, of course not, you should have empathy regardless but it is probably a subconscious factor in a lot of people's views on this situation

Stop making up absolute shit
I fail to see how anything can be considered a beautiful thing when it is used as a form of oppression towards women in other countries, sorry but there is nothing 'beautiful' about that. As for the argument that it won't do anything, no it won't but that isn't the point.
