Acre Homestead

It took them two weeks to fill the beds with compost. Josh seems to go to the gym every day, but shoveling compost doesn't seem to be his favorite task. Her parents came together once to help with the planting, and her father came twice more alone. And yet, she's still not making any progress.

It took her two hours to think about how to plant four wine barrels. And at least that long to do it. Now she has so many plants left over that she wants to buy more wine barrels. I'm sure they're not cheap. Next time, maybe she should just check Proven Winners' website (before buying the plants); they have a good configurator for container recipes. Easy peasy, even Beckys can use it.

She said she spent an hour and a half thinking about where to plant the tomatoes. The plants have been sitting around for two vlogs, and they still haven't been planted. Becky, think less, work more. Work smarter, not harder.

Then she tipped one of the Green Stalks over and let it fall onto the rhubarb, pruning it naturally. And last but not least, she also killed the truck's battery. Let's see how long it sits between the flowerbeds until Josh fixes it.

Sometimes you'd think her vlogs aren't real, but comedy.

Almost an entire video of planting out garden centre plants. Becky is a procrastinator. I generally just shove my plants in where I kinda know they grow best. And someone in the comments told her to watch a you tuber for advice about how to configure garden irrigation and garden planning. And she only put trailing petunias in her hanging basket with nothing in the middle!! She a bit rubbish!!

I had to fast-forward to save my sanity. I don't need to see her indecision, just decide and let us know.

I think you are right @Catlady1. Procrastination would explain why she is always behind, puts in minimum effort regularly and says she didn't get to something on her plan yet.

I used to think the flurry of activity she does is because she's such a hard-worker but really I think she doesn't love cooking and wants to do everything as fast as possible to be done for the day, or many days usually. I could be wrong though, I usually try to get out of the kitchen as fast as possible too and at least she's feeding her family decent food.

They’ve got more bees they can kill!! Why is she saying it’s a dream come true. Wasn’t that last year.

I don't understand the whole bee thing anyway. What's in it for her? She doesn't use that much honey, and she hasn't taken care to provide sufficient food sources around the hives.

I didn't even watch her last cooking vlog, and I'll probably skip the bee vlog as well. Too much fake smiling.

It’s part of the homesteader kit in her mind. But she’s not a homesteader, is not in the market for putting in long hours to properly homestead, all she does is “garden” and “cook” for content.

I mean shes planted a tit ton of garden centre flowers in pots. Is that not enough food??? I personally who knows absolutely nothing about homesteading would not have bees that close to my house where my toddler was running around!

Did anyone else roll their eyes when she started the video saying they have a bunch of new family members?

Watch Becky and Josh have the lamest cheese board ever. Or don't. I recommend you don't.

Everything on the comments saying they love the testing series of lives!! I personally don’t. Also loads of mushy comments about how cute her and Josh are etc etc. Americans are really bad for para social relationships!

I just took a look at her June garden tour, and oh, what a horror. I think her raised beds have never looked so unhealthy and messy. She clearly has a massive pest problem.

Although she now has a composting system for the kitchen, she still throws uncomposted waste into the beds. Until she clears the beds of all the waste, removes the plasticpots and throws out all the infected plants, she won't get rid of her pest problem. Beer traps won't help.

She's already pulled out half of her garlic because the plants are turning brown, the zinnias are dying, and she's already had to reseed most of the beans, melons, and pumpkins. The only thing that seems to be thriving are the potatoes, which have completely overgrown her onions. And when something finally grows, like the tarragon, she pulls it out because she thinks it's a weed.

I also don't understand why she grows so many cut flowers when she's obviously letting the flowers in the bed fade and not harvesting them. Half of the ranunculus and anemones haven't come up anyway. Her chaos gardening method obviously doesn't seem to be very productive and it doesn't look appealing either.

Because she's too lazy to label the plants, she leaves the empty pots with the labels next to the plants, which also looks extremely sloppy.
I can't imagine she spends much time in her garden. Given the current state of the beds, the effort involved in getting tons of compost and pre-germinating the seeds wasn't justified.

Dear Becky, even if you're gardening for vlog content, the end result should still be presentable.

How far back is the timeline of her vlogs? In her last vlog the chicks were 1.5 weeks old - they should be at least 5 weeks old by now.

She's pulling out more diseased garlic. Even though she was sure some time ago that the problem was caused by overwatering, she didn't reduce the watering; in fact, she continued watering during three days of rain.

Lots of traveling again (one week in Montana with Josh's family, one week out of town with her family), after which her garden will surely be completely out of control again, and she'll certainly feel overwhelmed again and again and again. It's kind of the same story every year.

Josh has been working on the new chicken coop for two weeks. Nothing more than the basic framework is in place yet. The two of them really have one thing in common: they spend more time thinking about the work than actually doing it.

Are any of you still watching, or have you already given up?

Did anyone watch her laundry folding video? I didn't. Sounds worse than her cleaning and endless organizing videos.

It's always the same. She neglects the pantry, the laundry room, the garden and then vlogs about how overwhelmed she is with everything, how she likes to keep things tidy, and how she's finally going to tackle it and keep it in good condition. Three months later, the same nonsense, over and over and over again. And her deluded fans applaud her because she's such a capable housewife and mother. Amen.

If Josh fixes up the nursery at the same pace as he builds the new chicken coop, the child will already be in college by the time she has a own room.

I was wondering how many bedrooms they have on the lower level?

I hope she has an easier time with this pregnancy and also doesn't carry the newborn while cooking.

I stopped watching her vlogs after the first trimester pregnancy vlog. I'm not interested in all that pregnancy nonsense. Her gardening style just annoys me because I consider it a waste of space and resources. I feel sorry for the chicks because their brooding area is far too small. The new chicken coop, when it's ever finished, will simply be impractical and difficult to clean. Looking back, I can't remember a single recipe I've cooked or that inspired me. She has an extremely limited selection of foods that she uses. In that sense, it's been the same for years.

And last but not least, Josh is becoming more and more present in her vlogs, and I can't stand him.

She doesn't develop, she doesn't learn anything, I always feel like she's trying to be something she isn't.

I find them both too uninspiring to hate watching, and their vlogs are just a waste of time for me. I hope you enjoy watching and commenting. But I'm out.
