It all feels very surreal yet not surprising in the slightest.
SO many people around him enabled his behaviour during the last few years as he kept spiralling. It was so clear to see that he was an addict and had mental health problems - I mean he broadcast almost every minute of his life online. Yet his "friends" and his "fans" kept saying he is fine, he does not need help. As far as I am aware, only the "haters" tried to intervene and regularly called police for wellbeing checks whenever he zoned out on his lives or was seen driving erratically in the hopes he would get arrested and therefore get the help he so desperately needed.
I also believe he had A LOT of trauma - hence the addictions, hence him struggling with his mental health - that was never addressed. His parents basically whored him out, he was around Lou Perlman a lot and so on...

As awful as it sounds, I am relieved that he now found peace. I am also relieved that he cannot hurt other people or animals any longer. I am relieved that his son now has a chance of a normal upbringing. I know it sounds really harsh but at the end of the day you cannot help someone that doesn't want to be helped and the best thing for everyone is to let them go.

RIP Aaron - no one wanted things to end like this. No one!

His ex gf Lina has posted a wonderful tribute to him in her stories - from a time when he was sober. It’s very moving and makes this whole thing just so sad. Not just his death but the entire few years leading up to it.

Celebrity deaths don't usually affect me but his has, maybe because he was my first crush and my bedroom was covered in him! I've just watched linas story and I've cried 😢 I've always followed him and genuinely felt so sorry for him, I don't think he was a bad person just messed up due to addiction and other things 💔

She posted such a lovely tribute to Aaron, they looked so happy and healthy mental and physical. I remember reading a few years ago or maybe even say a show he was on and they warned Aaron is heart was damaged from huffing and it could just stop working. But from his erratic behaviour displayed over the years is seems he has never truly given up substances just moved from one substance to the next

That is a wonderful tribute, she obviously truly loved him. So sad 🥺

Perhaps he was self medicating his mental health issues.
Such a shame, so young.

Same for me. I had a crush on both Aaron and Nick in the 90s and early 2000s, they were both a massive part of my childhood so it’s hit me hard. Is everyone on here from the U.K.? People posting on the Dailymail saying they don’t know who he is but I think they are either in an older or much younger generation than me.

I’m from the U.K. I’m 33 so I doubt anyone much either side of my bracket would know him as we got all of his albums as teenagers

Yeah I grew up a huge bsb fan and I loved nick carter so I’ve followed his career for years, watched house of carters and I heart nick carter also. Aarons passing has hit hard as did Leslie’s, the whole family has a very sad and damaged past

I’m from the UK. Was a massive BSB fan when I was a kid and was obsessed with Nick Carter. I wasn’t so obsessed with Aaron but I definitely liked him mostly because he was Nicks brother and I loved their relationship.

I used to watch Aaron’s Insta lives a couple of years ago, was so sad to see him spiralling. I’ve followed him on and off just to check and see how he was doing.

I hope he's at peace now, the peace he could never find in life. Poor guy. I think all those siblings had a rough life

I’m due to go and see BSB on Tuesday. I honestly feel so sorry for nick :( like said above nothing but tragedy in that family. Unfortunately Aaron thought he invincible, it’s very very tragic.
I'm going too, I'm in the DNA pit, this has broke my heart, another wasted young life, its really upset me, god knows how Nick will be feeling, I'll be crying I'll find it hard to keep it in. I'm an emotional person in general. I was really rooting for him a few years ago when he did the rehab programme with his mum, I thought he came over well, it was Corey Feldman who came across the worst.

I saw a video from the BSB show tonight. Nick was crying (understandably). It seems incredibly tough having to do a show the day after your brother died. :(

It’s so complicated when you’ve been no contact with a family member and they pass. I can’t imagine the confusion he’s going through, while trying to find the strength to perform

I'm sure I saw Aaron at a theme park in Florida in the early 00s with another kid. They sneaked past the whole line and cut in the front for some shooter ride I remember vaguely recognising him at the time. He knew people were oogling at him but just smiled at everyone. Just looked it up and he was filming Slime Time at the park around this time.

It's such a shame he never found his niche. Seems like he was doing well 10 years ago on DWTS but struggled to find his place in the world in more recent times. I saw an interview where he alleges he was dealing drugs at 15 because his parents held back all his money, and his mother stole 200m from him - it seems a little embellished. But such a sad story nevertheless.

I am on my way back from seeing the Backstreet Boys at the O2. They did a lovely tribute to Aaron. There was a photo montage of him and they dedicated a song to him. Nick was hugged by the other members, I cried. Every time Nick did a solo he got extra cheers.
