People like Trump on television. He's funny. When they walk into the voting booth ... I'm no so sure.
They like him because he’s a racist, a misogynist, and rude and nasty. They want to be him, to get away with anything and everything. Most of them are cult like.

Erm Hitler was democratically elected….. when people hear Trumps policies they think he doesn’t mean me, he won’t come after me, he just means those horrible immigrants/black people/liberals.

Trump refuses to accept he lost the last free and fair election, he staged an insurrection because of it, he was quite happy for his Vice President to be hung - that alone should ban him from even running from President before we get to all the other shit he’s done.

But hey Harris stumbles over her words now and then and *checks notes* laughs so obviously they are both the same.
But people have a lived experience of what life was like under Trump for 4 years and what life has been like since. They are aware that their lives cost more now, that millions have been allowed over the border illegally and unnecessarily, and that the US didn’t get involved in any military disasters under Trump. The very poorest people have suffered the most under Biden/Harris. They remember the MS media screaming on about “fascist regimes” from 2016 and they lived out those years and know that under Trump 1.0 the US didn’t turn into a dictatorship. They increasingly ignore the MSM for other news sources and anyway I think many people have become immune to all media screaming. People compare their lives now and their lives under Trump, and they're deciding accordingly.

And it’s not that Harris stumbles and laughs. It is that she is a terrible candidate who simply cannot articulate her policies when asked to do so. She is not a talented politician, she cannot pivot effectively, she does not have good ideas, in fact increasingly it appears that she has no ideas at all. I say this as someone who voted Democrat for 12 years. I no longer vote in US elections but have followed this one very closely and would never vote for Harris.

The townhall with Anderson Cooper was so shocking that even CNN was hammering her afterwards. She cannot answer questions. She was asked very specifically what her plan was to reduce inflation. Her answer was to talk about stopping price gouging during natural disasters. The two have nothing to do with each other. She was asked why the Biden administration didn’t issue an executive order to stop border crossings much earlier. She laughed and blamed Trump for not getting Mexico to pay for the wall. She word-saladed through the follow-ups. This matters and it’s not good enough and it’s not winning over undecided voters which are the ones who matter at this point.

I think she will lose and frankly I think the Democrats deserve everything that is coming to them.

It’s a valid question because some people will stay home and not vote at all. With the electerol college being the fly in the ointment it’s important to vote for the Democratic candidate even if you don’t like Kamala’s laugh or her “word salad.” Otherwise you may as well vote for Trump. Which is anyone’s perfect right to do.
I’m personally thrilled to vote for Kamala and feel she has a solid chance to win. It’s past time a woman got elected President!
Yes, voter-turnout is the key. Kamala needs to be aggressive whilst the Republican's re-adjust their strategy. It was 'Strong Man' vs 'Weak Man'. Now they need to figure out a new strategy, for the rest of the week she needs to hammer Trump ... the oldest candidate to run for President. How about this line to start: "He wears more make-up than me!!" .... 😬 Trump, like most dictators has zero sense of humour, so that's a good place to hit him.

I despise Alice but I agree that if orange wank maggot wins we are done for. Not just America but the Uk as well. No offense but I don’t delve into other countries and their politics so if you’re not American or highly schooled in our politics then I doubt you have a clue how fucked we are. It boggles my mind.

Joe is such a class act. It takes a very classy man to lie about the circumstances of his wife’s and Daughters death by repeatedly falsly saying that the other man was a drunk driver. Also a wonderful doting old grandfather who has yet to even acknowledge one of his grandchildren. Infuriates gold service family members by claiming no oversea deaths on his watch. Talking of watch remember when he wouldn’t stop looking at his in the ceremony for the soldiers killed under his watch.
I also remember the time when talking about American soldiers who had died, he called them suckers and losers. There was also the time he went all the way over to France to commemorate other soldiers then didn't turn up because it was raining and said “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.”

Oh yeah, that wasn't him was it...who was it again?

Biden needs to do the decent thing and step down. It's beginning to affect the UK too, only a few days ago Starmer was publically saying how "on good form" Biden was when they met this week, then couple of days later the Putin gaffe🤦‍♀️ makes our new prime minister look thick as shit too

I do feel for Biden though - he's an elderly grandpa who should be tucked up with his feet up enjoying his last days, not shouldering the burden of being the president of the USA. And Trump may be laughing now, but he will be exactly the same in a few years, age gets everyone in the end

She’s one of the most unqualified candidates ever to have run in terms of having a clear agenda, any sort of vision, an actual grasp on policy and the ability to express ideas. And they knew it in the original primaries when she was knocked out early on.

Internationally if elected I think she is a real concern. Tulsi Gabbard has spoken on this many times.
And see, this is where it's clear, despite the exhortations that people should step out of their bubbles, you are relying on particular media sources that have an interest in selling a particular narrative. Have you ever once watched any of the clips of her in the Senate? When she questioned Bill Barr, Jeff Sessions, or Brett Kavanaugh?

It's fine that you don't like her politics but calling her unqualified and implying that's she's dumb is just patently false.

Also lol @ listening to what Tulsi Gabbard has to say about anything these days.

Real elitism is being in the immensely privileged position of sitting on the sidelines constantly shouting racism, homophobia, transphobia and disablism without the faintest interest in - or idea about - the actual daily struggles of ordinary Americans and how that might motivate them to vote.

Elitism is seeing everything through the lens of identity politics because you personally don’t really have any other problems and don’t have the imagination to see that others do. Elitism Is being amazed that women could vote for Trump - and being convinced that the only reason is that these women hate women.
Honestly, it’s exhausting - and ironic - to see you repeatedly slate other people for “not understanding” what other people’s lived experiences are etc - when you know nothing about those posters 🫣

Gosh how pathetic are Trump supporters? I’m sorry for this woman, but not taking a condolence phone call from Biden is ridiculous

I wouldn't talk to Biden either, there's growing suspicion that it's his government's policies that caused the protection for Trump to be so piss poor, and that allowed the shooter to make his shot. Also Biden will probably call and say "I'm sorry for the loss of your cat last Tuesday", such is his state of mind now.

Trump is the same guy he was in 2016 in that he talked absolute shit then and his base didn't care and the same is true now.

Look at this in 2017, he just rambles on incoherently for ages:

It's more notable with Biden as his decline appears more sharp, but you can't have the leader of the free world fucking up the autocue every week as it undermines the country and is unlimited ammunition for the opposition.

I think it's the family cat judging by the decline of the USA in the last four years.
Well based on what we saw last night the numerous videos of Biden CLEARLY showing signs of mental degradation really really aren’t “Far Right conspiracies” or deep fakes. His behaviour and mannerisms are almost exactly the same as my late grandad (great spirit) when he was first diagnosed with dementia. A. successful musculoskeletal doctor disappeared almost overnight. It was haunting to watch. He was dead within a year. Yet there are still some Democrats who are arguing up is down, left is right, shit doesn’t stink, women have penises, and Biden is as sharp as a tack.

“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” - George Orwell

Unemployment is low. The stock-market is high. Growth is good. Not quite sure what 'decline' you're talking of, especially compared to other large economies.

Can I just say, the way the declining for-profit media is covering the US election is nothing short of a disgrace. Trump will lose in massive fashion, but watching the news you'd be hard-pressed to believe it.

Bookmarked.

Trump talks more about his ear than he does his actual policies, so there's not really much else to focus on. He never holds press conferences to the free press either, where he can be scrutinized. So speculation is bound to form around certain 'inconsistences' regarding some of the claims he makes.
Sorry but are you having a laugh? He held them all the time when he was president unlike his successor. And he frequently talks about policies unlike the democrats who just seem to be running on an anti trump narritive. Probably because they have no accomplishments and everything has gone to shit since Joe got in.

It certainly can be understood but it takes a lot of work. My earlier comment was made because some of the comments on this thread are woefully misinformed.
I believe that Kamala has an excellent chance of winning because women in America are pissed off at the misogynistic rhetoric of the Republican Party. Calling governing women childless crazy cat ladies, taking away our reproductive rights, forcing their white nationalist religion down our throats, and their assault rifles that kill our children has lit a fire under our lady parts! Keep Kamala and Carry On.
Hmm, I’m not as convinced. I think it’s easy to live in an echo chamber when it comes to politics. There is also a frankly terrifying number of women who still support Trump. I hope I’m wrong but I think if she does win, it’ll be a very close call. But we will see how the coming months play out, there’s still room for change!

ETA my comments are not a slight on Harris obviously. I’d bloody love to see her take it!

You did, which is why I didn't reference your insulting sweeping statement. What I take issue with is how you start - Why do Brits think they understand American politics?

Which is akin to saying we should keep quiet and not have an opinion because we aren't American. Which makes no sense as you then go on to remind us that our lives will end if Trump gets in. Which is it, you want us to keep out of it or not? Or do you just want us to only have an opinion when it's in line with yours in which Kamala is the only answer?
The reality is we are looking at it as outsiders so it doesn’t matter what we think. But from an outsider looking in perspective the democrats really fucked this up by letting the Biden thing go on for so long. If they wanted to make a serious shot with Kamala they needed to have her up front and centre months ago. I don’t think she has the presence to defeat trump, regardless of your views on him the shooting will have mobilised voters who may not have bothered.
