Well the world didn't actually end last time he was President

I would say that's a pretty low bar to clear.

But we could take a look at some stuff he did.

Withdrew USA from the climate change agreement, the only hope we have to halt global warming
Sucked up to vile dictators such as Putin and Kim Jong Un
Belittled and mocked his own allies in NATO to the point that Putin thought the alliance so weak that he could invade Ukraine on a whim.
Stuffed the Supreme court with his own cronies, to such a point that they have made an batshit crazy ruling that he can't be prosecuted for anything he ever did in office.
Ensured that Roe v Wade was overturned, causing millions of american women to not be able to receive basic medical care in their own state. Due to the overturning of Roe v Wade, IVF has become impossible in some states, thus preventing couples with fertility issues from having a child of their own.
Grossly mismanaged the covid pandemic, to the point that the US had higher deaths per capita than any other developed nation.

If you think that is a legacy to be proud of, then reason is of no more benefit in this argument

EDIT I actually forgot,
- Incited a riot to stop the peaceful transfer of power.
- Pressured his own vice president to break the law to stop the certification of the election
- Consistently put out false claims that the election was stolen, despite , when given a chance to by the courts, could provide no evidence of said electoral corruption
- Told state officials in Georgia to "find 20,000 votes" for him.

I watched Trump's 'press conference' last night and for the first time, genuinely, I thought he looked unwell. He was both mentally and physically feeble. It was encouraging to see as someone who despises him.

I thought Gary O’Donoghue was brilliant in his reporting, got loads of eyewitness accounts. I felt awful for him in the footage where he was hiding behind the car, it must have been more scary as a blind person not able to actually see what was happening when he’d just been expecting to do a small piece on a run-of-the-mill rally. Then he revealed, of course, they were stuck in the scene whilst it was all locked down.

I agree. He was getting a bit of abuse at the start (the BBC are not well liked at trump rallies - fake news etc) but he was calm and collected and I thought he managed to really connect with the people he spoke to. Whenever he came to the end of an interview he always wished the person well.

I honestly might email the BBC to say how well he did under such stressful circumstances.

This is America where they have zero gun restrictions and have a history of shooting presidents and presidential candidates. I’m amazed someone hasn’t tried to bump him off before now.

I think people struggle to show empathy towards him because he’s not a very nice person and doesn’t show much empathy or human decency himself.

Btw the bbc journalist is blind. Which in normal reporting wouldn’t be an issue but it makes that interview with the guy seem a bit weird as I don’t think the interviewee who is pointing “over there” or the general public realise this!

I have one question. Why do Brits think they understand American politics? It has taken me years to learn it all and I am an American. I don’t know diddly squat about British politics other than the Constitutional Monarchy.
Michelle Obama is not now and was never interested in running for President. It ain’t gonna happen. Kamala is it and we are 100% behind her.
I can’t help but wonder if some Brits with their dislike of immigrants coming into their country to Trump and the Republican Party in the US, since they hate anyone not white. Whatever the reason you better pray Trump doesn’t win or life as you know it will end.

We maybe don’t know a lot about it but we do hear a lot about it, especially about presidents. Trump was pretty much rammed down our throat last time he was in.
Most of us know well that we do have to care as, like it or not, American politics can have a big influence on our situation, the war in Europe being only one aspect of this.
Unlike you obviously, and rightly, we don’t even get to vote but do have to suffer any consequences.

That wasn’t my point at all. And I did state “some” Brits. I just think try getting valid information instead of listening to people with extreme biases, narratives, and agendas. No party is perfect. There is corruption to be found in any party. Men are not Gods and they are imperfect. That said, the Democratic Party has the best interest of the people at heart. They don’t have to lie and cheat to win an election. They don’t try and control women’s bodies. They don’t give huge tax cuts to billionaires.

Which is akin to saying we should keep quiet and not have an opinion because we aren't American. Which makes no sense as you then go on to remind us that our lives will end if Trump gets in. Which is it, you want us to keep out of it or not? Or do you just want us to only have an opinion when it's in line with yours in which Kamala is the only answer?

Trump reposted pics of Biden being hogtied and kidnapped. He incited violence on Jan 6th. Thought it was hilarious when Nancy Pelosi's husband was assaulted and called her a crazed lunatic. Just a few weeks back, he wanted Dick Cheney's daughter tried and executed at a televised military tribunal. Biden said one thing that he apologised for which most people know wasn't what his fans are now trying to turn it into but anything not to place the blame on where it belongs. No offense but I don’t delve into other countries and their politics so if you’re not American or highly schooled in our politics then I doubt you have a clue how fucked we are. It boggles my mind.

I know a lot about US politics (I watch Jimmy Dore, Due Dissidence etc) but life goes on regardless of who is president. Things have got worse rather than better under Biden which people don't mention due to bias or because they are rich and it doesn't affect them. The US is sinking for sure, with or without Trump. Biden needs to do the decent thing and step down. It's beginning to affect the UK too, only a few days ago Starmer was publically saying how "on good form" Biden was when they met this week, then couple of days later the Putin gaffe makes our new prime minister look thick as shit too

I don't think anyone here loves Trump and nobody would find the prospect of a civil war funny. I don't think the world is going to go down the toilet if he wins either. He said a lot of the same shit last time and the world managed fine.
The problem in America goes beyond Trump. It's the same problem that we have on this side of the world, although maybe not to the same extreme, and that's the huge division in society and the unwillingness to find common ground or compromise. To be honest you sound just as blind as some Trump supporters with your talk of fighting a civil war for democracy and how the UK will be singing a different tune. I don't get this blind devotion that some Americans have for either Trump or Harris (moreso Trump supporters obviously). Nobody in the UK talks about Starmer like he's the second coming no matter how much they hate the Tories.
