I want to gather the courage to meet someone from an online friendship board for a real-life coffee. In 2021 I made the decision that I really should act on my feeling of having zero friends and it took a lot for me to join that board. I've been chatting there on and off with a lady and I hope that we'll meet up.

Plan a vacation of some sort. Need to see how that goes, since my partner is now self-employed and we don't yet know how this will work out. but I'm often not really enjoying myself on vacations and it feels like such a miss-out. I'd like to understand why.

Be more chill about work when I'm not working, but this is already well in the making since I left my job in August. My new job isn't as intense and I don't find myself thinking and talking about work 24/7 anymore.

One thing I will say, and this is from previous experience of my own. Be kind to yourself, a lot of these plans are about changing what we are, there isn't anything wrong with anyone. Its an ongoing thing though isnt it.

2022 was a big year for us. We bought our hopefully permanent home & we got married.

I’d like 2023 to be a more go with the flow less planning kind of year. Just a nice chilled year with lots of trips away and just generally enjoying ourselves and making the most. Life is too short.

We’ve got my husband’s 30th in July & he’s got a surprise glamping trip, plus a cruise to the Fjords that he knows about.

I’d like to squeeze a couple more trips, Amsterdam maybe & somewhere in the UK. Our new house needs some cosmetic work, but I think breaks away will take priority in 2023.✨

Travel to places on my bucket list, I have 3 holidays booked. Probably won’t book anymore next year but you never know.

Pay off the holidays I do have booked (one will be soon as it’s a monthly payment and we go in a few months), one isn’t until the end of next year and I’ve paid half off already and it’s not too much so plenty of time for that, plan is £50 a month which is what I was doing before I booked the third holiday. Third and most expensive is on a 0% credit card, 2 years to pay it off, paid off around £600 so far and have just over 2k to go.

Third goal is to save for a car as mine is very old and had a few problems in the last few months. I worked so much overtime last month and again this month and the next two months. Got paid around £1100 more than usual so was able to save them plus a bit more towards the car & credit card. Goal is £6000 by September for the car but I think I’ll be a bit off it probably. I’ll just have to be strict with my money and do more
overtime.

A small goal is not to use my credit card for anything else, don’t want to get into the habit of using it.

Become healthier (I started this in Sept but Xmas has thrown off course!)

Go for a walk every day to get fresh air (doesn't matter how long)

Go on a longer trip away than normal (I've only been away for short breaks over the past few years due to circumstances)

Raise money for charity (I have a few ideas)

Work smarter not harder

Go back to some hobbies that I'd stopped recently due to circumstances

- Go on a nice holiday somewhere, either Greece or the Canaries, haven't been abroad since 2019

- Stop mucking about waiting for the perfect man and just settle with one who'll have me 😂

Never ‘settle’. No such thing as a perfect man/woman but you will find someone who is perfect for you. It happens when you least expect it. I was single 4 years before finding my guy and he was in front of me the whole time. Good luck for next year x

I know what you mean. I tried to live my ‘best single life’ but always felt something was missing. When I finally gave up on finding someone, that’s when Mr JSquared came along. He was very persistent and wore me down 🤣

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with settling for someone that ticks boxes. I have had many relentless men wear me down too but they end up being tit in the end.. Should have went for a nice one that I wasn’t overly bothered about 😂

It’s my 40th birthday next year so I would love to visit Amsterdam. This is definitely going to a big thing as I’ve never travelled abroad alone before.
I went for the first time this year, not by myself but when I was there I thought I’d love to go back by myself,I just felt so comfy there and it was so easy to get around and plenty to do. Fingers crossed you can get there and have a fab time!

my main plan this year is to stop watching repeats on tv. I get home from work and just put on Friends or Catfish etc because it’s always on but I want to watch things I haven’t watched before (so maybe tv repeats but new to me). Maybe learn some stuff from documentaries I wouldn’t usually watch, things like that.

I also want to stop dicking around online so much and do more reading.

I always want to lose weight but I’m trying not to make that too much of a head mess up.

I don’t think we will have a holiday as such this year, maybe an overnight somewhere as I want to save really really hard to have a special holiday in 2024 to celebrate some special dates.

I'm 41 and really have got myself into a rut so making big plans for 2023 to change my outlook and the way I behave / approach things. I've basically dedicated the last 13 ish years of my life to raising my children and now I feel like I should actually spend some time on myself and what makes me happy. I've almost forgotten who I am and what I enjoy and have become very angry, jaded, and bitter. I'm also quite overweight and have a lot of debts that I'd like to pay off.

Thank you for this thread and I will be reading along for inspiration while formulating my plans.

Love this thread! My main goal is to lose 3 stone and get fitter. I'm going to Glastonbury in June and after going this year I realised how hard it was at my current weight. So I need to get down the gym and start a diet pronto! I also want to get my mojo back. I was in a messy relationship for the first half of the year and I lost myself completely so it's time to sort myself out again as a single independent woman!

all the wrong ones mean you're getting closer to the right one (all the while learning and growing if you know how to take it all on board)

Top 3 goals -

Lose weight, make progress in the gym.

Change jobs - I need more of a Challenge. I would like to make some progress in regard to my career, increase my pay

Buy A house/start the process of buying one - so I need to carry on saving 🏠

For people wanting to meet new people. I’ve seen a few videos on TIk tok of people going under the table to eat green grapes on new year. (not sure if it actually works) Apparently those who have eaten 12 grapes under the table on the countdown to midnight have met future partners

12 grapes - You need to eat the grapes with every chime from 12:00 to 12:01, each is a wish for each month!!
Apparently you’re suppose to say a wish whilst doing it

1) Make more friends/social contacts. I have found myself feeling lonelier than ever the past few months: I think a combination of the pandemic, friends having babies / settling down & not being interested in doing anything/ meeting up anymore (radio silence now from those who constantly messaged about doing stuff when they were single 🤔), & moving to a new area and wfh, so never in the office, haven’t helped.

I also find that living in London means that every few years, as friends either move back to their hometown or elsewhere in the country (due to obscene living costs), I am in this same predicament, having no one to do stuff with, so I need to find a long term hobby so I don’t find myself in this position again in 2026!

2) Linked to the above, join a book club/Meet-up group, badminton/tennis club. Things I am interested in but I waste time surfing the net instead of doing something more productive and beneficial.

3) Put myself first: I have become a lot better at this over the last few years, but I am going to improve on this in 2023. I am far too lenient with some people, and put my happiness and contentment in other people’s hands, so will continue to work on this aspect this coming year.

Happy New Year everyone!

2022 was a tough year for me. It has taken months of therapy and medication to get my mental health stable. My main goal of 2023 is to carry on with this and hopefully return to my old self.

I also want to look after my physical health - I want to eat better and move more. I do need to lose weight but in order to stick to a healthy eating plan, I need to completely change my habits. I want healthy eating/exercise to be an enjoyable experience rather than a chore.

I love the idea of a no spend January. I want to spend less and save more. Our home needs some work so will be nice to save up enough money to cover everything that needs doing.

I also want to finally make a dent in my reading list. I want to do less tech focussed activities this year.

I have been loving reading through this thread. I wish you all the very best for 2023 ♥ Here's to us all smashing our goals for the year! 🥂

Take dating seriously again after a series of very traumatic men 😂 just downloaded hinge again (wish me luck I’ll need it) no settling for man slags girls!!

look after myself, sounds a bit vain but invest in my appearance, hair care, skin care, makeup ect. I want to feel confident in 2023!!

book Amsterdam for the spring, might even book a solo holiday in the summer if I feel brave enough. Has anyone done this before?

save 10k again this year to go towards a house deposit in the future

a new car as mine is on its last fiat 500 legs 🥲 feel like it’s about to blow up everytime I do a bloody hill start.

Carry on taking the gym seriously, big bum 2023 🤣🤣

Carry on progressing in my new job and meeting new people within work, wanting to expand my friend group and meet a bunch of new people this year as sometimes I feel quite lonely. Everyone I know is in relationships so would be great for me to venture out.

overall just feel happy and surround myself with good people. Putting myself first as I would do anything for people who don’t give me a second thought. This year has been so hard and I’ve gone through so much tit alone, really hoping 2023 improves for all of us ❤
