Everything Schofield does is straight of the narc playbook. As a therapist my view:
- He was finished way before he admitted and left TM. To the point, it was unpleasant viewing, but his denial is that strong, he just would not back down. His comfort was far more important than This Morning and it's brand.
- Now he's cornered he minimises his conduct and plays up other peoples behaviour, making himself the victim: they are picking on me, they're homophobes etc
- The most interesting about the above is the lack of any thought for any other concerned party
- They pay lip service to their victim in an attempt to display empathy but they can't maintain that narrative because their need to look innocent overrides that lip service. So it's not a consistent position. Any pretence at caring for their victims is an act they can't sustain. Because actually, they couldn't give a sht. It's you that's ruined their life obviously.
- To a narcissist you are an object, not a sentient being: don't ever believe anything else. Relationships are cold transactions. If they get nothing from you, you're done. It's all about them.
- You must understand for whatever reason, they are the victim. If they broke their leg nicking a granny's telly, it's the granny's fault for having a nice telly, a fence etc.
- They act a lot and quite badly: they cry with no actual tears forthcoming, they send you photos of them looking sad etc
- They'll guilt trip you even to the point it clearly makes no sense. They'll continue to push a very clear provable lie. In a way that makes you think you're going mad.
Now imagine all that with the platform Schofield has. And this is why I get so pssed at Schofield apologists.
And just to add if any of you identify with these points in your own relationships do please seek therapy or confide in a trusted friend.
