Re Maya. Her claims don’t lose merit just because he has sadly died. To be blunt, the talk surrounding his death only adds to her narrative that he was unstable. I haven’t followed it much but at the end of the day, her experience is her experience and she should be free to discuss it regardless. We have a polite habit in society of positively eulogising the dead which is respectful but at the end of the day everyone has their faults. Liam wasn’t perfect as much as his fans wanted to believe he was, he wasn’t. Nobody is. It can’t have been easy for Maya to make the decision to share her story, some of these fandoms are so unhealthily invested in their idols so to speak out must have taken courage and she shouldn’t be slated for doing so because of his death.

I guess we’ll see what the truth is as the weeks go on. She said he sent her harassing text messages didn’t she from multiple phones so I assume she’ll have evidence of this to back up her side of the story. Whether she chooses to continue to share her story after his death is up to her but she should be allowed to without any judgement and blame.

I guess it’s up to her whether she continues to tell her story after his death,

Could she not have just wrote lovely things about him rather than having digs at all the scumbag media.

Like I get she’s angry but I’d be more concerned about hiding you punching a toilet attendant and calling her the N word than worrying that Bears poor Dad had his demons.

If you raise a child with empathy he’ll understand his Dads struggles & not give a shi*e about the media.
I think in saying what she did she's thinking of Bear. She's still here to able to explain her actions to Bear but who will be able to explain Liam's to him? I'd do the exact same thing. TMZ posted those pictures (think they deleted them now) they'll be out there forever. Someone said earlier that DM were outside the morgue waiting for his body to leave. You've got people posting private texts or talking to the press about how he was acting shortly before he died and no one is able to give Liam's side of it. All of it is on the internet so it's out there forever now and as Bear gets older he could find and end up so confused with everything and she wants as little of that to happen as possible. I'm not a parent but I fully understand why she said what she did and I fully agree with it.

I just wanted to echo what other people have mentioned in here - I haven’t been able to get it off my mind either. Liam’s death has struck a real chord with me. I wasn’t a One Direction fan or a Liam fan, but something about this has really knocked me. The fragility of life perhaps. Wanting to know what was going through his mind. Was he just trying to climb down the balconies to escape and fell? I don’t know. I will probably never know. But man, this is so sad.

I’m glad this thread hasn’t been closed to be honest, I kind of need it right now and it’s opened up some interesting discussions.

I see we're back to the Kate bashing 🙄 she spent two years of her life with Liam, they lived together. Her not being mentioned in tributes doesn't mean a thing!

People on here have been posting about how Liam's death has affected them and getting sympathy and understanding.

But Kate who was probably one of the closest people to Liam in recent years is getting nothing but hate because people don't like how she came across in tiktok videos, because she chose to put her own mental health first and left him to go home, because she was smiling when getting dog food, because she only posted he planned to marry her to make a play for his money/house and now because her twitter location is sent to the UK.

Like it or not Liam chose to spend his time with Kate and seemingly planned to marry her people need to stop hating on her. We talk about how Liam was likely negatively impacted by the hate he was getting online in his final few months/weeks but then people still seem to think it's ok to rip his partner of two years apart 🙄

I don’t know why but the last videos of him & Kate don’t sit easy with me. I don’t feel like she loved him. I know it’s only a short clip that we’re seeing so don’t come at me. It’s just how I feel & her statement aswell not mentioning his mum & dad. Feel like she’s away to cash out on as much as she can from his death. She just didn’t love him in my opinion.
I don’t think he loved her either, he always seemed irritated by her, esp in that video.
Cheryl’s statement is angry - not only at the press, but at Liam for not getting clean for his son and leaving her to ‘pick up the pieces.’ Her priority is Bear, she seems like a brilliant mother and I think she feels let down on behalf of their son. I can’t say I blame her.

He said 'I only live 3 minutes away from my son but I only see him once a week'?
Where did he say it?
I wonder if he had limited visits to see his son due to his drug addiction?
This is true as I used to live in Beaconsfield (can say it now he’s passed) and we saw Liam out and about a lot. He had a Bentley with the number plate 1D, so hard to miss. Cheryl used to live in Chalfont St Giles (not sure if she still does) but it’s a very short drive (albeit a little longer than 3 mins). Liam seemed really lonely; he was often in the tennis club gym with all the local mums who were doing a little workout pre school collection. We were very excited to have him in town. It’s a discreet area with a fair few celebs and many middle aged to older people; it’s not a young person place and he wouldn’t get hassled at all. It’s the sort of place you can walk into a cafe as someone that famous and no one will ask for a selfie etc. He seemed better in that stage of his life though, we think he moved there to be closer to Bear as he moved in after Cheryl. I used to say we should befriend him and ask him if he wanted to join us for coffee etc, as the parent gang there is absolutely lovely. I think that’s the hard thing about being famous (and a man) if it was a young mum often alone and looking lonely, I would have probably got chatting to them in the coffee line more. I didn’t see him with bear, but my friend did in Sainsbury’s buying a paddling pool - I thought that was really cute, and so normal and pleased Beaconsfield gave him the sanctuary to do a few things like that without being hassled.

I just feel really, really sad. I can’t get past it. I’m not usually so bothered by celeb deaths, but this just feels so, tragic. A sad life with a sad end. I wish he could have a do-over, I know it’s ridiculous but this just feels like a horrible, needless accident 💔

I always find it really gross and disgusting the way some fans get angry because cast mates / band mates etc don’t release statements immediately. I’ve even seen comments accusing people of not caring. It’s like they think they owe them their grief. It’s very sad people aren’t allowed to grieve in private, over someone they actually knew. Parasocial relationships have really gotten out of control since social media

I don't think it really matters whether it was suicide or not tbh. Either way it's a result of a tragic lifestyle and a drug addiction. Whether he meant to fall or did by accident, he wasn't in his right mind so thinking it was the former doesn't make it any less upsetting.
a quote from glee when Corey died has lived with me ever since “ it doesn’t matter how he died it was one moment in his entire life”

This thread in a nutshell is apparently all women in his life are to blame and Liam never had to take personal responsibility for his actions because he was addicted to drugs.

“Maya should’ve taken legal action beforehand” - she was in the process of doing that before he died and these documents are now being obtained by tabloids because it prolongs the story
“She should’ve helped him and got him into rehab” - He went to rehab and relapsed multiple times, she tried to get him help and he refused
“She should shut her mouth and keep quiet” - She hasn’t said a word or been seen since his death
“Kate shouldn’t have left him” - He was cheating on her, being physically and emotionally erratic and the trip went far beyond its initial run because of Liam’s issues, but her safety isn’t a consideration when she could’ve stayed with a man who wasn’t well?

Absolutely none of the vitriol directed at these women is directed at a man who actively fudged the age of his fiancé because he started dating her when she was underage, was physically and emotionally abusive, and a danger to himself and other people.

As I said, I’m not blaming her - but leaving him alone and knowing the mental state he was in, just doesn’t sit right with me. We obviously don’t know the ins and outs and if she did alert anyone / help put anything in place so he wasn’t on his own. Or if as you say, she had to leave to protect herself.

I’m just coming from it at a place of, would I leave my partner alone in a foreign city when I know he has addiction issues and bad mental health? I’d be phoning his parents, ensuring he had a minder 24/7 (which we don’t know, she might have done.)

It’s just the overall vibe I get from Kate that she wasn’t necessarily in the relationship for the right reasons. Just my opinion.
Spoken like someone who has never lived with an addict. How very lucky you are to be able to speak from that place.

Let me tell you what you’d really do. You’d try & you’d try, you’d lose every single part of yourself and you’d beg the person to stop, to get help, to love you more than their addiction. They wouldn’t, or couldn't. And then one day you find the strength to walk away and save yourself.

I‘m not being nasty, if you’ve never known that life you’re truly blessed beyond words. Please believe me when I say that one day you’ll decide to choose you because there is no saving them.

Some coked up, messed up pissed has been falls from a hotel balcony!
All self inflicted shit, but gets more sympathy in many quarters than the innocent kids being burned alive in Gaza.
What the fuck is this messed up world?
Who says he’s getting more sympathy? You because you are actively reading a thread about him so don’t act surprised. Why make it a competition?

This footage outside his hotel with fans is very sad, especially the first one with the guy telling Liam he helped save his life.
These parasocial relationships are so unhealthy IMO and shouldn’t be applauded.
can you imagine the pressure of a complete stranger coming up to you, and filming you whilst another tells you that they’re only alive because of you? Imagine if that happened to you?

I’m sorry but my god!!! How are we living in a world where it’s deemed ok to analyse someone’s dead body. Like really?? It knocks me sick I couldn’t care less if it’s a famous person or bob up the road have some fucking humanity.

I think one of the reasons the thread should remain open is because it is allowing discussion of difficult topics regarding addiction. It’s opened my eyes.
